Immigration and Travel in your nation?

Postby Lovaniye » Wed Jul 20, 2011 11:16 pm

How do immigration and travel laws work in __________? What happens when someone foreign enters/exits the country? What are customs like? What are your laws reguarding citizens emigrating from your nation, or traveling to and from other nations? How does the government deal with contraband, etc?

I'll start:

Lovaniye allows its citizens to travel freely within the borders, and allows them to exit the country with special permits awarded for business trips and international deliveries. Convicted criminals of any type may not receive these permits. Lovaniye maintains closed borders, so no foreigners may enter the country without special allowances from in-nation businesses and international deliveries. Corporations often employ non-citizen researchers, for instance. Non-citizens must wear a tracking device at all times while in Lovaniye. Non-citizens in Lovaniye may not stay for more than thirty days at a time, although this law is poorly enforced. Non-citizens may not discuss alternative government styles with Lovaniyean citizens. Non-citizen will be removed and disallowed from returning if they violate any laws while in Lovaniye.

Because Lovaniye has no substance laws or gun control, there is no contraband. There is, however, an incredibly high Customs Tax for items purchased abroad or imported for personal use. Corporations and retailers may freely import items for sale, but these items must include a moderate Customs Tax in their sale price.

unrestricted, and mostly free. unarmed civilians crossing our borders don't bother us in the least. we watch them come and we watch them go and we don't interfere with their doing so.
but then, we're on lananara, and we have lion-bears. those little psionic creatures no one ever sees, because you see the illusions they project instead.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

For travel, passports are required for all nations. Citizens of some nations may be exempt from the need for a visa if only planning to stay a certain amount of time. All must pay an entry fee of 10 golds. People with criminal records are denied entry.

Most of the above is true for immigrants. Depending on the country and their circumstances, they may be required to have a visa upon arrival or they may get one in Dagnia. The path to citizenship is easy if they can speak Dagnian (and mandatory if they plan to stay, as we don't want foreigners staying too long, at least as foreigners). The path to social acceptance is harder, as they have to show that they have embraced Dagnian culture and assimilated.

Immigration isn't serious issue in Bulgharia. Every single traveler is checked by custom-house officer for drugs, alcohol, tobbaco and cigaretes. Immigrants have up to 30 days to perform altitude test or they will be deported back. Once the altitude test is completed, they are granted citizenship, and if requested, they can change their name to Bulgharian one. People traveling with pets must pay symbolic 1 dollar / lev tax. Pets are granted International Traveling Passport (ITP) as well as training, if the owners request that.

There is specially government funded program in order immigrants to get work and household. The only restrict on immigrants is that they don't receive child subsidy if they don't register children as Bulgharians. Foreigners can ask for police protection if they are discriminated.

What happens when someone foreign enters the country?
If they are coming across legally, then they'll be asked to submit their passport into the traveler registry, have their bags checked, and a criminal background check is done.
If they are coming illegally we find them, fine them, and kick em out with a note saying don't come back until 10 years after you read this.

What happens when someone foreign exits the country?
We look at their passports and cancel their visas, take them out of the traveler registry, and say a friendly good-bye.
What are customs like?
Polite people who utilize not too invasive procedures and high-tech tools to protect the borders and the country.
What are your laws reguarding citizens emigrating from your nation, or traveling to and from other nations?
You can move away from the country and we have no travel restrictions
How does the government deal with contraband, etc?
We seize the unlawful items and destroy them

Immigration is very slightly restricted while the population is under a specific limit (48,000 people). If the population reaches this limit, immigration is strongly regulated and emigration from the nation is encouraged.
This was formerly a signature. One day, it may return to its splendid past. In the meantime, enjoy some pictures of my cats.

Immigration is strictly controlled. In order to become a citizen of Hypparchia, one must pass extensive ideological, cultural and physical training programmes. Emigration is also controlled. In general, the movement of people is highly restricted.

There are no national immigration laws. The surrounding terrain is extremely difficult to pass, and the area is well-hidden and secluded. This is not to say there haven't been foreigners. The locals call them "Outsiders" and generally dislike them. However, word has somewhat gotten around in tight circles and many businesses are headquartered in within the boundaries of the nation. The market for their products has grown within the country, but most of the sales are international.

That's basically it. The businesses like their little slice of seclusion and don't make the locals too angry in case they rat them out, and vice versa. It's actually pretty strange, who knows how long this is going to go on.

it's veery complecated to immigrate
Kalaspia-Shimarata's flag represents the Union between K&S. The dark blue represents the sea and the light blue represents the sky. In Kalashi language considers light blue and dark blue to be different colours. England colonised, and unified K&S, between 1774 and 1953, and English, light blue and dark blue are considered to be the same colour. Therefore, the contrast between dark blue and light blue represents the union, but the differences between K&S where as blue being two but simultaneously one colour represents K&S being two, but simultaniously one entity. The opposite to the symmetry represents the unity and indipendance of K&S, whilst also representing the Kalashi culture of opposite symmetry.KS is 75% Christian, hence the cross.

Immigration to the FKR is somewhat restricted.
While the FKR welcomes people who flee their countries because of war and violence; the fear of unjust persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group; or because of natural disasters. Some economic migrants are allowed, usually so if poverty in their nation of origin is so extreme that they cannot support themselves or their families with the basic needs required to survive (E.G. food, water, medicine). These people are classified under the group of involuntary immigrants, the reason for immigrating is to flee from bad conditions which could threaten the survival of themselves and/or their families.

Voluntary immigration is very restricted. The FKR usually only accepts immigrants with skills that are in high demand in the nation, such as doctors, engineers, or those skilled in the IT sector. Voluntary immigrants are required to have lived in the FKR for 3 years before they can apply for citizenship status. To apply for citizenship status, they will be assessed on their language skills (Both Kangan language and English language.), and their knowledge of the nation's history, culture and political system so that it will be on par with the minimum requirement of knowledge on these subjects for high school graduates in the country.

Family reunification is also a method of immigration. If a person within the nuclear family of an immigrant has citizenship status in the FKR, then said immigrant is allowed to migrate to the FKR for the purpose of family reunification. Such migration is also allowed if a person wishes to marry a person who has macropodine citizenship.

There are no immigration or travel laws. International flights or ships are not treated any differently than domestic trips, landing in the same places, without any special checkpoints. No one checks or stamps your passport: If you want or need such a thing for your own country's purposes, you have to go to a government office and get it yourself. It is not illegal to simply not bother, though. If you want to immigrate, you simply arrive, and don't leave. If you want to become a citizen, you start paying taxes. You dont actually need to come here to do that at all: Paying taxes makes you a citizen automatically, even if you have never set foot in the country.

What happens when someone foreign enters/exits the country? What are customs like?
Tourists entering the Federal Republic are subject to a full security analysis by the Czech Intelligence Agency. Their belongings are checked for any illegal items, their passports are checked for any withstanding international arrest warrants and their personal information and any sense of privacy is hacked and stolen by Agents is checked.

Important Guests or those who are classed as 'suspicious' are tracked and followed by Agent's for the rest of their visit. If they wish to stay in the country they must undergo a loyalty test.

What are your laws reguarding citizens emigrating from your nation, or traveling to and from other nations?
Czech Citizen's travelling abroad are first investigated by the Czech Intelligence Agency to ensure their continued loyalty to the Federal Republic, the country they wish to visit is also investigated. Countries with democracy, communism and other views differing from the Emperor's are illegal to travel to. Important Citizens are followed during their trips.

Citizen's who wish to leave the country undergo the same investigation they are then executed for treason. It's impossible to leave the Republic. We don't care what happens to them after they leave the country of course, it's not like we kill them.

How does the government deal with contraband, etc?
Execution. The contraband is 'lost'. sold on the black market by the Government's Official Terrorist/Mafia Organization

Tourists are welcome except those who have served more then six months in prison, or those who are seriously ill, or insane. Immigrants without criminal records are allowed in, but don't get full rights under the civil law for the first five years. They do face a certain amount of discrinmination, but without them the nation would probebly crash. We need them to do the more crappy jobs.
Everyone can travel abroad except criminals and a small handful of politicals on a special list.

Immigration to Hakkland is still limited to skilled workers (individuals with either a university or polytechnic degree or at least 3 years of training together with job experience), students and their immediate family members. Hakkland knows 3 types of immigration titles : Visa (validity of up to 90 days), residence permit and settlement permit. Work permits – if granted – are no longer issued independently but included within the immigration title and are available for foreigners that either fall into one of the several available permit categories (IT specialists, company trained specialist within a group of companies, managing personnel, scientists, highly skilled workers with exceptional income, etc.) or can prove a public interest in the employment. The categories and all requirements are listed in the ordinance on employment.

As Hakkland does not allow immigration without cause, it is necessary to be either enrolled with a school or university, have a specific job offer that fits the requirements of one of the work permit categories or intend to reunify with close family (spouse or minors) already within Hakkland (family reunification visa).
After obtaining a university degree, foreign students may stay for one year to find a job that matches their qualifications.
Any person married to a Hakklensk person may immigrate to Hakkland.

A person who immigrated to Hakkland may choose to become a Hakklensk citizen. To be granted the right to become a Hakklensk citizen, a person must:
have the "right to reside" in Hakkland
live in Hakkland legally for at least eleven years
not live on welfare as the main source of income unless unable to work, for example, because they are a single mother with small children
be able to speak Hakklensk and French
pass a test with questions about the history, culture and politics of the country. This test must be passed unless the applicant can prove that he is not able to learn the necessary facts because of an illness, a disability, or old age.
not have committed a felony
swear to commit to democracy and the Hakklensk constitution
give up the citizenship of other countries

Under certain conditions children born on Hakkland soil are automatically granted Hakklensk citizenship and, in most cases, also hold the citizenship of their parents' home country. Between 18 and 23 years of age, they must decide which citizenship to keep. However, if they hold the citizenship of a country that does not allow citizens to give up citizenship or if there are special circumstances that make it unacceptable for them to give up the citizenship of the other country, they may keep both.

Illegal immigrants are sent back home and are prohibited from coming to Hakkland for 15 years.

P.S : Hakkland provides free Healthcare to everyone (Citizens, Immigrants, Illegal immigrants)

Immigration is generally free in Minoa with a few exceptions, including restrictions under Section 86 and internationally or nationally agreed sanctions. Minoa's immigration policy is a patchwork of legislation and foreign policy decisions.

Travel is generally free in Minoa as with most western European countries.

What happens when someone foreign enters/exits the country? A non-issue in the Socialist Republic of Rustonia. Travel to and from Rustonia is rather unrestricted. Immigrants are required only to provide some form of identification, and a DNA sample to be placed in the National Anti-Crime Database. Tourists are only required to provide indentification. Emigrants are not required to provide anything.

What are customs like? Very neat and clean. Every person is given a brief search (people are allowed to opt instead for an X-ray) and any luggage is searched.

What are your laws reguarding citizens emigrating from your nation?Emigrants are required only to fill out a form asking if emigration is permanent, and anything they are taking out of the nation. As well as if they are seeking to revoke their Rustonian citizenship.

Traveling to and from other nations? Tourists are only requested to provide identification and fill out a form asking how long they will be in Rustonia, and why there are in Rustonia.

How does the government deal with contraband? Contraband falls into 2 categories; Class A and Class B. Class A contraband (such as foreign drugs or ammunition) are seized and held by Rustonian authorities until such a time that the person in possession of contraband leaves the nation. Afterwards it is returned. Class B contraband (such as firearms, bombs, child pornography) are immediately seized and destroyed.

People are free to travel through Rustonia without State scrutiny.

Tourists are only allowed on New Lyrane in groups and they must always be accompanied by at least one official guide. Each tourist group must consist of at least 50% women and tourists are required to comply with our dress code while onplanet. Tourists are not required to stay with their group, but they must have an official guide with them when they go exploring. Customs inspections are rather thorough; tourists and all their luggage are x-rayed and luggage is opened and every item inspected to make sure there is no contraband. Contraband is confiscated and may be destroyed.

So far, there are no restrictions on Lyranians leaving New Lyrane, whether for a time or permanently. Returning citizens are subject to the same inspections as aliens.

Contraband includes items that are likely to be dangerous to Lyranian biosphere, including: nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons; cell cultures; live plants or animals; projectile and beam weapons. Projectile weapons may be returned to alien visitors after the completion of their outbound inspection; any other contraband is confiscated by the government and may be destroyed.

Who actually control Immigration in your nation?
The Department of Border Security and Immigration (DBSI), a branch of the Department of the Interior.

Is it required to have VISA to visit your nation or is it negotiable through bilateral agreement?
Yes, you must have VISA to visit.

How long does it usually be given to tourist(s) by Immigration Staffs to stay and remain in your nation? As long as the person wishes.

Do immigration have strict rules and/or regulations to abide for tourist or student for example? Yes, they must abide to our laws and regulations, of course!

Tell us more about your immigration.
The vast majority of immigrants are Reptilians fleeing various nations from across the Galaxy (in some cases, the Multiverse), either because of anti-Reptilian (anti-non Human) oppression or because they see Saurisia as a perfect place for them to live in.
