History

Founding
Tsarsgrad broke off from Russia during the revolution during the early 1900s. Although originally held by the Whites (Monarchists), Siberia eventually broke off after the USSR was established. Russians by the hundreds of thousands fled from the Communists during this period. Because of the boost in an already large population, everyone agreed that a new nation should be made. After a Congress held in Krasnyorsk, which was attended by representitives from all over Siberia, it was agreed that a new nation would be founded. It would be called Tsarsgrad, in honor of the slain Tsar Peter. However, it was still debated how the nation should be ruled. Would it be a Monarchy, like the old Russian Empire? Or would it be a Democracy?

Early Politics
Early in Tsarsgrad's history, divisions had already formed in the political landscape. Two main parties exsisted. One was the Monarchist Party, made up mainly of Conservatives. Many Monarchists were former Whites that had fought in the Russian Civil War. They believed that a new Tsar should be appointed, and that Russia should be invaded and the Empire re-established. The other, slightly larger group was the Centrist Party. The Centrist Party was made of mainly of Liberals, as well as many more middle-class citizens than the Monarchists. The Centrists were always slightly more popular in most areas, mainly due to their devotion to the populous. They believed that Tsarsgrad should be a Democracy, and that they should leave the newly formed USSR to their devices, believing they would fail soon enough. Later, each side would develop their opinions on certain issues, not always conflicting ones.

Growth and Development
Siberia has a wealth of natural resources. With its burgeoning workforce, Tsarsgrad was able to utilize these resources unlike Russia was able to do. With these new assets, Tsarsgrad grew. In the intermediate period of the early 1900s to World War 2, Tsarsgrad was able to avoid the economic depression felt by most nations. However, as the world turned, Tsarsgrad would have to make hard descisions.

Cuisine

Food in Tsarsgrad is a vary widely diverse field, due to various cultures in our nation.

Traditional Russian food is common, as Tsarsgrad was originally Siberian territory of Russia. Some of these foods include Blini (Thin Pancakes), Kotlety (Chops from various meats), Pelmeny (Small balls of minced meat covered with pastry dough), Steak (beef and pork), Beef Stroganov (beef prepared with cream sauce), and Kiev Style Chicken (a special chicken chop with butter inside).

However, not all food is so European. Much cuisine in Tsarsgrad has a heavy Asian influence as well, courtesy of a large influx of immigrants from various Asian nations. These mainly include Mongolia, China, Japan, and Korea.

The majority of immigration of China to Tsarsgrad occurred in the early 1900s, when China was ruled mainly by warlords vying for power. To flee the strife, hundreds of thousands of Chinese refugees fled North to Tsarsgrad, bringing their distinct culture and cuisine with them. Depending on what part of China the immigrants came from, various different kinds of food were brought. For example, many immigrants came from Guangdong province, an area where "Dim Sum" (literally "touch your heart") cuisine is prevalent, food usually consists of rice rolls, lotus leaf rice, turnip cakes, buns, shui jiao-style dumplings, stir-fried green vegetables, congee porridge, and different soups. Alongside with foods, a variety of ingredients and even beverages where brought to Tsarsgrad. Some ingredients include Rice, Noodles, and Soybeans, along with many various herbs and spices. Tea was also made popular during this period. However, it wasn't just this that was brought to Tsarsgrad. Many desserts were also brought from China to Tsarsgrad, including Bings (white flour cakes), Gao (rice snacks that are steamed and seasoned with cane sugar or honey), and Baobing (shaved ice topped with a thick, sweet syrup).

Another Asian nation that influenced Tsarsgradian cuisine is Japan. Many Japanese immigrated to Tsarsgrad during the waning days of World War 2 and for a while after. The Japanese brought many different kinds of food with them, including Yakitori (skewered chicken), Tempura (fried meats or vegetables in a special batter), Donburi (rice bowl), Udon (noodles), and Soba (noodles served on a plate rather than a bowl). Another popular dish is Sushi, which is raw fish or shellfish wrapped with rice. It can also contain other ingredients as well, like vegetables. Food isn't the only impact that Japan has had on Tsarsgrad. Two alcoholic beverages, Sake (rice wine) and Shōchū (a spirit made of distilled barley or sweet potato). Despite this, most Tsargradians still prefer Vodka.

Yet another nation that has influenced Tsarsgrad's palette is Korea. The majority of Korean immigrants came to Tsarsgrad during the early 1900s, when the Penninsula was occupied by Japan. Korea has brought a variety of dishes to Tsarsgrad, including Bulgogi (Korean Beef), Jeyuk Bokkeum (Spicy Pork), Bibimbap (a delicious vegetable and rice dish flavoured with the famous gochujang sauce), and of course Kimche (fermented cabbage).

Another source of culinary culture in Tsarsgrad can have its roots traced to Mongolia. Unlike Korea, Japan, or China, Mongolian immigrants have been slowly trickling into Tsarsgrad since its founding, thus having ever greater and longer-lasting influences than other cultures' cuisines. Mongolia's main contribution to Tsarsgradian cuisine is barbeque. Made up mainly of Mutton and Beef, or even Horse and Camel, Mongolian food has been part of Tsarsgrad's populous' diets for a long time. Some dishes that are popular include Khorkhog (a kind of soup), Buzz (dumplings fried in Mutton fat, called "Khuushuur"), and Tsuivan (meat with rice or noodles).
