The Tribunate consists of 300 Tribunes elected for unlimited number of four-year terms using the Single Transferable Vote system (three seats per electoral districts). It decides about government budget, taxation, and changes in the criminal and civil codes. It cannot be dissolved under any circumstances. Tribunate can remove the Consul (by simple majority) or dissolve the Senate (by 75% majority).
The Senate consists of 100 Senators elected using the two-round system (one seat per electoral district). They serve until they reach the age of 70, unless the chamber is dissolved by the Tribunes. It appoints the Consul (head of state and of government) and provincial Commissioners, as well as several other officials. It also supervises the judiciary, grants amnesty and honorary citizenship and issues resolutions which are the basis of our long-term general policy.
Declarations of war and changes in the Constitution require the consent of both legislative chambers and the Consul.
