The red represents the blood and wars the nation has endured and fought to prosper.

The sword represents the destruction of our enemies.

The wings used to represent the 'holyness' of the empire, but after the beginning of the space age, they came to represent the technology and prosperity of the Intergalactic Empire.

New Asgariath is based around the idea of spreading and surviving at all costs, no matter what it has to do to achieve the goals. It started out with massive sieges where fortresses were at times just destroyed rather than taken and ended up with the destruction of entire planets.

Many variations of the flag exist. Some of the most famous are the APAF (Planetstrike force. The winds point upwards and the sword is burning, as though it was falling through the atmosphere to strike a foe), the APDF (Planet Defense force. A shield in front of the sword, signifying the role of the army to protect the planet), and the AMBF (Main Battle Fleet. This is a sword with one wing, and it looks like the sword is swinging down. There are stars in the background.)

The Union has had two flags in the past hundred years.

Image

Shown here is the flag of the Most Grand Imperial Union of Oterro, which displays the Cross of Saint Ruiseart, the founder of Oterro's former Royal Dynasty, House Bâtiment The cross is also featured prominently on the coat of arm's of the house. The gold, supposedly, represents the wealth of a united Oterro. It has occasionally been used in monarchist rebellions, though for most it as seen as a symbol worthy of hate.

Image

The Union's current flag. The centre piece is the symbol of the Parti du Bouclier, the only legal political party. The hammer represents the industrial workers, the compass represents the intellectual class who guide the workers and the rye represents the agricultural workers. The gold was removed as it was considered to be an unnecessarily vain addition to the flag and a civilized state's goal should not be infinite prosperity.
we, unlike the bourgeoisie, have nothing to lose and therefore our expression will be the only honest one, our words will be the only challenging ones and our art will be the one revolutionary expression. We need new noise and new voices and new canvases to become something more than the last poets of a useless generation.

The red and white represent the blood of our brave and the snow of our north, the lions represent strength, resolve & courage, the teapot represents civilisation, order, and shalom.

Blue stands for the bringers of order; our law enforcement and the military apparatus.
The white bar signifies our racial roots and support of white nationalism.
And lastly, the Fasces. Symbol of Fascism and our particular branch; National-Syndicalism.

This is enlightening. I always thought the symbol in your current flag was a sextant, supposed to represent adventure or a colonial empire or something.

The kangaroo sillhouette in the center represents the people, since all native macropodines are sapient kangaroos. The white background represents how all the people started with a clean slate at the foundation of the federation of the Kangaroo Republic and also represents their progress towards a better and more peaceful future, it also represents a metaphorical blank canvas that we had at the foundation of the federation on which the artist creates his masterpiece, with the kangaroo sillhouette being on it, to represent that the nation's greatness all comes from the people of the kangaroo republic, without them, a nation means nothing. The red border represents the blood of those who died during the great war in the 19th century. The four yellow stars represent the four pre-federation kingdoms that joined the union in 1934.

Colonialism? How dare you sir, how dare you equate the Union with some petty Empire, since when did spreading civilization become imperialism, how dare you, etc.

Nah but that's a lot cooler than the proper meaning actually.

I guess for me, you'll have to click on the national flag and see up close on my national page or whatever you call that.
The orange represents the NDP (which is the name of the social democratic party right now in Canada). The hammers and sickles are more universal signs I added. Freedom and peace are 2 ideologies that we follow... most of the time ;) . The writing around the red circle is our national motto: don't shoot what moves; move what shoots. This is our willingness to let other nations that respect human rights and democracy exists and fight alongside us. The kangaroo in the center represents our national animal, the red kangaroo, and the red is in the circle around it.
And by the way, corporations are not People!

The surrounding blue represents our island roots, as well as freedom and peace...The red stars represents the four provinces of Manahakatouki, as well as giving a nod to our native people's religion, devout belief in the stars in general...And, well, the scale represents are equality shown to everything, fairness proven before any other valiant task...
And so it was, that I had never changed.

It is perhaps not a flag, for we have little use of visual elements or language, but the eyes of Dream are a vision known well to all the cats in the world, passed on orally or else experienced ourselves as we sleep but cannot quite remember.
