The black fist represents solidarity as well as militancy.

The flag of the Igovian Soviet Commonwealth of Beddgelert is based upon the red flag associated for centuries with both revolt and defiance, and, since the French Revolution, with struggle of Socialist character in particular.

The Celtic knot in the hoist (left) side is representative of the infinite (Socialist) unity of the predominantly Geletian-Celtic people and their unbreakable bonds to the Left.

The triskelion harks back to the Gaulish roots of the Geletian people and the influence of Celtic culture on the modern Commonwealth, and is also thought representative of any number of triple-faceted aspects of Beddgelen life, from the unity between worker, peasant, and soldier (or, in some interpretations, scholar) to the importance -practical and religious- of sun, moon, and earth, or the so-called triarchy of Commonwealth political leadership in the Council of State, the League of Igovian Communists, and the Council of Ministers.

The crossed hammer and falx is styled after the more famous hammer and sickle used by the Soviet Union and by various other Communist states and organisations, but substitutes the latter tool with a dual-use scythe and sword. Known to the Dacians, whom the ancestral Geletians encountered during the Gaulish invasions of the Balkans and near-by areas, debate persists over whether the Celts introduced the falx to the Dacians, or adopted it from them. In either case it has been a valuable part of Geletian life ever since, long used as an agricultural tool that could be readily adapted for use in combat. Thus the hammer and falx represents not only worker and peasant as is the case with the similar Russo-Soviet icon, but also the soldier, while the falx's dual utility offers a nod to the concept of the citizen soldier and serves to remind laypeople of their duty to fight in the revolutionary cause.

The 2 Stars around the eyes represent the 2 Freedom Wars we have been in--The Revolution and the Civil War. The other 3 represent (Middle) Civil Freedom; (Top Left) Military; (Top Right) Justice.

My flag is based on the former South African flag, but Hippostania has nothing to do with Boers or Dutchmen

The star is inverted so it is firmly rooted and centered in the black (firmly grounded in reality), and that the two points pointing up point outward, instead of straight up, like towards a heaven (how we perceive the uninverted pentagram). The points reach out to all possibilities, not just one.

In short, it is a mix of several flags and symbols, mainly the flags of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Arabic letters are those affiliated with the major terrorist groups that helped to form the nation. The Islamic crest is a reminder of the inherently theocratic Islamic rule in the nation.
