The Enlightened Region of Smithsonia
I. Geography:
Smithsonia is a medium sized land mass located in the Central Pacific. It is Islandic and has no bordering nations or regions. The climate is usually mild year-round. This climate boasts healthy harvests of produce in the summer months, and allows a very productive and calm rainy season that lasts 4 months of the year. There exists in the region one elevation extreme that is simply a natural wonder to behold, which is, Mount Macedonia which has a sharp rise of 2,954 kilometers of natural granite rock. At the top of this magnificent plateau is a 24,000 square mile surface area that is home to some of the sharpest minds that live in the region. Most onlookers would call this nation of Mount Macedonia a standing tribute to Mount Olympus, where only the GODS dwell. Smithsonia added to its territorial claims the island nation of Promotopolis, located Northwest of the mainland of Smithsonia. This region boasts of it’s riches in gold, silver, massive uranium deposits, recently discovered platinum mines, diamonds, and a very well used and respected metal of copper. Because of the position of the region of Smithsonia, during the rainy season, all four united coastal lines endure major storms produced by hurricanes, flash floods, typhoons, and every once in a while, because of underwater disturbance, mega tsunamis. Smithsonia has taken initiative and have created the Regional Smithsonian Institute of Meteorology (RSIM), to study and create advance warning systems to protect the people of coastal areas, and to constantly study weather patterns that fuel such natural occurrences.

II. Economic Structure
In Smithsonia, each nation participates in the regional market socialist system. Even though each nation has it’s own way of governing itself in regards to their personal economy, in the year 1846, the nations of the region agreed to this approach for the general wellbeing and defense of the region. Thereby the Regional Economic Pact of 1946 was 3.24developed and signed by all nations. The pact specifically states that in a time of regional crisis of any kind at any time, a Smithsonian Regional Board of Governors (SRBOG) will be activated by a quorum of the nations, and headed by three member nations, Kamallah, Greater Swaziland, and Minor Myanmar. Each nation will then submit a regional delegate to serve as the legislative body, and New Vatican Rome will serve as the judiciary of the Board of Governors. Through this pact, we ensure the survival of the region as a whole, and we rebuild in the spirit of unity. The GDP of Smithsonia’s Regional economy is 13.4 Billion graugs a year. The graug is the regional currency, and is compared to the U.S. dollar as 1 graug=3.24 dollars. The condition of the economy is very structured, strong, and diverse. Less than 20% of the region is below the set poverty line, as the gap between the rich and poor is very small. Inflation barely exists in the region and there is no current debt owed to any nation or region in the name of Smithsonia. All debts, if any are controlled individually by nations, and all foreign aide is only provided to regional governments and not individual nations.

III. History
Smithsonia began as an incorporated monarchy in the year 1851. All land titles were distributed by the ruthless tyrant of England Strauss Moore. After the brutal "Night of Death" was imposed, where all firstborn female children were executed, settlers decided to flee the country of darkness and chart for new land. They stumbled upon an unclaimed island of rock, which was later identified as granite sea stone, a priceless and most precious mineral used for jewelry in England. Here the people settled and marked off sections of the land and built massive and major infrastructure in a very short amount of time. When England caught wind of this, they prepared to invade, but because it was during the rainy season of the region, the massive English fleet was defeated by God himself causing England's navy to disband and never pursue Smithsonia again.

IV. Military
Smithsonia possesses a regional military called The Smithsonian United Armed Services (SUAS). The SUAS are well trained and prepared with an incredible five prepared branches that include, an army, a navy, an air force, the marines, and a coast guard regiment. The military population is 38% of our total population, and it's instituion is 53% of our annual GDP. The military's readiness is at a constant 90% readiness, and becomes more ready as the DEAF CON system is updated. We are allied with one current region which is 3rd Corner, and we look forward to being able to expand our peace accords with other regions in the near future.

V. Government and Political Structure
The Official name of the region is “The Enlightened Region of Smithsonia,” which is commonly reffered to as Smithsonia in its short form. The style of government is a representative democracy. The executive power of the regional government rests and abides with the Nation State of Kamallah. The legislative power is by national representation from each country, and the judiciary rests with a rotating circuit of 7 judges with every country receiving an opportunity to serve in the judiciary. The region was formally united and founded on July 25, 1851 in which the same year it also incorporated itself as an incorporated monarchy under the rule of its mother country, England, before it declared its independence and broke away. It is currently affiliated with the World Assembly and is a member in good standing.

VI. People and Population
The combined regional population is 182,000,000. The region is composed of nationalities that are native to Europe, Northern and Central Africa. The language that is accepted as the national standard is Broken English by influence of the Americas. We only require 4% of each nation's population to be devoted to the regional military. That means that Smithsonia has a standing military force and reservist military force on staff that totals 7,240,000. Other initiatives are in development to boost the military population.
