Common soldiers will use anything available - bayonets, rifle butts, combat knives, axes, spades, helmets and just bare hands, feet and teeth. While not part of standard gear, many soldiers will privately purchase large non-standard knives (with the approval of their COs) or get themselves custom-made trench knives or clubs.

Dagger, Knives, Swords, Maces, Flails, Axes, machetes, shotguns (alone or mounted on rifles) etc. Some soldiers imbue theirs with magical powers(same goes for guns, but definitely not as frequent as melee weapons), but most grunts do not. Usually seen with officers or a dedicated battle mage.

the staff of themnax, when too close to use its other functions, and that pretty much means nose to nose, makes a really dandy quarters staff. also a quick twist of the wrist makes the enter rest of the surface, aside from the function head and the designated handhold, approximate the temperature of a modest sun. thus making it relatively un-grab-away-able. this function is also commonly used to light camp fires.

For Shadowhunters, their close combat weapons are Seraph Blade. Each blade is named after an Angel and when the name is called the blade turns from a blunt; dull tube, into a wickedly sharp dagger.

For Werewolves, their close combat weapon is their claws.

For Vampires, their close combat weapon is their fangs.

For Warlocks, their close combat weapon is a Shepard's crook, which amplifies their magical abilities.

For Fairies, their close combat weapons are various knives.
