Whiskers and the Brain

It's about two cats in a lab who have gaine intelligence from genetic experiments. However Whiskers is a dunce, while Brain is very intelligent and attempts to take over the world.

(Pinky and the Brain basically)

Television is just a fad. I give it a decade before the glorious resurgence of theatre.

The Gregory Aleson show... basically Charlie Chaplin-esque shenanigans in silent black-and-white.

Also reruns of The Simpsons and Monty Python's Flying Circus are popular.
(new episodes of the simpsons are shown far later than in the US... we still don't know who killed Mr. Burns :lol2: )

Radio is generally more popular, both professional and amateur. Television is usually found in more affluent homes, hotels, waiting rooms, etc. There's a decent selection, but most people here don't spend too much time on sitting in front of a screen unless it's job-related. This is why it's a monthly subscription or pay-per-view style, as there isn't much demand. The benefit is that what you do watch isn't broken by commercial "breaks", although depending on what it is you're watching, there's definitely some conscious product placement in there. However, this is usually clear to anyone who is watching and is not a fool.

Television is also a way to visually explore the different facets of the nation, from a distance. As many communities are tight-knit and don't stray too far, sometimes this is the only way you get to see other places. There's also coverage of all the major events, including Operation Market Garden (the cleverly-titled annual commerce convention) and also the annual Pilgrimage to the Seal at the Bloodied Pass.
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."

The nation's top reality show has been Maraquean Idol for over a decade now. It's also the nation's most popular show overall; viewership is up to 1.2 billion an episode this past season.

The nation's top non-reality TV series is Royal Pains about the relationship between a fictitious boy king and his personal assistant; some 950 million people watch every week.

Reality TV is not particularly popular in Xanicea. Our current most popular television show is Home Front, a science-fiction show detailing the alternate universe idea exploring what would happen if the Righteous (an alien race which enslaved us thousands of years ago, and then disappeared due to political instabilities in their vast galactic empire) returned and tried to enslave us again. The show has gained critical acclaim for its realistic portrayal of characters and its realistic action scenes. The plot is considered a bit convoluted, but is also acclaimed due to its surrealism (with main characters often dying, and the view of the narrator constantly switching, creating the idea that one shouldn't become too attached to the main characters, as they are just normal soldiers and may die at any time).

Extreme Dinosaurs is a very popular show within Saurisia. Many fans express disappointment at the short length of its circulation.

As for most popular local TV show, that would be Skull Squadron, a comedy which details the adventures of a ragtag company of elite Army soldiers as they participate in exercises, experience various adventures on leave, and battle rebels, pirates, and criminals.
