Immigrants are rare, as this is a difficult place to find and fairly closed off. However, business incentives and technological advances mean some have taken advantage of the opportunities to have headquarters in the area. There is some animosity between the Originals and the Outsiders. Something's got to give. Compromise is possible, but it might not be accomplished with diplomacy.

Terra Mariana wrote:No minorities in Terra Mariana, save for a few thousand outsiders residing here as diplomats or business liaisons. There used to be quite many before they were expelled in 1948 for causing too much headache with their refusal to assimilate.

Now it's nearly impossible to immigrate legally (unless you can provide a really good reason of being here), and illegal immigrants are shot on sight as outsider spies.

Some may say we're missing out on the diversity, but least we got rid of those pesky Englishmen with their penchant for football hooliganism and indecent exposure near our national monuments while drunk, of the worthless Russian alcoholics and their shitty techno music (not that it wasn't invented yet back in the 40's), of the filthy stealing, swindling, dope-dealing Gypsy scum, and most of all, of the sneaky, greedy, wretched traitorous Jews. An outsider cannot be expected to understand how it is to deal with foreigners that haven't got a trickle of loyalty for this nation.

Not to question your policy, but wouldn't this lead to eventual inbreeding? Unless your people have many children, the only way to keep up a steady population is via immigration.

As for Xanicea, many ethnic, political, and social minorities exist here. They are treated with a modicum of respect, and our people are encouraged to explore other cultures and be internationalist in their thoughts and actions.

Assimilation is compulsory. Everyone talks the same, dresses the same, and thinks the same. Since we still have different races here, we hope that in the future, everyone will mix up and look the same.

There are largest populations of members of the Omnian Church in the southeast - About 30% of Bornia and Chundermia, 35% of Hoelland and 40% in West Areland.

Although they are generally well treated in the country, this has not been the case in West Areland, since the Omnians there want the state to seceed and join the neighbouring country of Areland. The Objectant majority are unionists. They have traditionally held the dominant positions in society and the wealth disparity is wide: the median income in West Areland is AM$34,000 for Objectants and AM$24,000 for Omnians - and that's just today. In Hoelland, the rates are AM$32,000 and AM$30,000 respectively.

Kaichu is a homogenous country. Foreigners account for less than 0.1% of the population. They are mostly diplomats. Those diplomats live in isolated walled-off neighborhoods. Other foreigners are travelers. Those travelers are carefully watched by the military and the security services. Permanent immigration is illegal. Illegal immigrants entering our islands are shot on sight. Foreigners don't have any constitutional rights and can be searched and imprisoned by the authorities without any warrant or trial. When a Kaichuanese is caught doing a crime, he/she is sent to a working camp. A foreigner caught doing a crime is shot the same day and the country where he comes from get a bill for the cost of the bullet. In general, Kaichuanese treat foreigners with respect, the population of the country being very polite and respectful. Although foreigners are treated with respect by the Kaichuanese citizens, they tend to be ignored and avoided.

What if the country refused to pay for the bullet. Case in Point: Xanicea has no spare money for such trivial affairs. We're too busy building our military and educating our people.

No. I think Kaichu won't face a starvation crisis because of an unpaid "one bullet" bill :p

Over a bullet? That seems a bit extreme. I mean, if it were like a few dozen bullets, I'd understand, but over a single bullet?
