How Does Your Nation Celebrate Its Founders’/Independence Da

Every realm has a day when it started. For some, sovereignty was won by blood, throwing off the yoke of tyranny from a dark realm. For others, like-minded creatures banded together to protect their rights and interests. Still others just woke up won day and found themselves in the hegemony of an order that waltzed in and took over.

No matter what, though, there is a time of commendation, and that set date is your nation’s Founders’ Day or Independence Day.

How do your people celebrate it? Are there fireworks? Picnics? Ceremonies? Is there anything compulsory that citizens must do? What is your citizenry’s general opinion on celebration of their heritage?

Founders’ Day for TurtleShroom does not have any universal means of celebration. On Founders’ Day, TS’ Flag Codes order government institutions flying the Flag of Christendom and the national flag on the same pole to lower the flags and, for the only day in the year, fly the national flag over the Christian Flag. All non-vital government institutions are ordered shut on Founders’ Day, and citizens are encouraged to celebrate their heritage and spend time with their friends and families. Common foods and drinks in celebration include cornbread, sweet tea, lemonade, barbecued pork, and lima beans.

Foundation Day isn't celebrated in any particular way; we're a party culture so we're always partying anyway. It is an official holiday though, so just about everyone has off that day. The street celebrations are quite spectacular, though.

While we do not celebrate the founding as the exact day Emanuel the first were crowned king is lost in time so are the federal flag's day celebrated with military parades, free bread and drinks given to the commoners by their nobility, flag waving, singing and similar things as everyone enjoys a day away from work as it is considered unpatriotic to not let your employees celebrate this important day while the people of Imerbürg can also enjoy being showed various curious artefacts, animals and people brought home by the royal guard and adventures from distant lands.

Military parades take place as well, but everybody knows that the fireworks are the best part. All in all, it's very similar to how the Liberions celebrate their Independence day, which, coincidentally, is today. (OOC: Liberion = America)

We have a Founders Day with picnics and tours of government as well as tours of museums. It is a day of open governance where the doors of government are opened and government officials and elected officials are required to host their constituents. Various political rallies are held as well as parades by military institutions.

Founder's Day in Ardicio is a huge celebratory experience. Since the nation is built on education and scientific/technological prowess, there are numerous science fairs and expositions to display the absolute best of what Ardicio has to offer. The day is popularly used as an annual marketing event in which major corporations and producers of new medicines, technology, etc. advertise their new contributions to the world, and let foreign nations have a chance to get their hands on such advancements. All of the marketing/advertising is done in good nature, is kept from becoming the sole purpose for celebrating the day by nation-wide picnics and open houses of every business and building that's proud of their home nation.

Due to the fact that our independence day is the day we captured the country from the native population the celebrations are very toned down out of respect. Due to the 120 years of integration tough the traditional 10th of November date is becoming less used and most people celebrate independence day on the day the vote became open to all, 13th of July.

Blues Bay's Founding Day (August 13th) is a day to relax,watch the fruits of their labor go by in Military parades,visit museums and art institutes. As we eat our national animal,plenty of turtle gets eaten in creative ways and occasionally chicken. Kids and parents alike are allowed to get a closer look at the Military vehicles the soldiers that keeps them protected. Fireworks are quite common as are artillery barrages for fallen soldiers.

And to round up a good day,the day after Founding Day,That Guy On The Throne will be overseeing the Military Technology Expo which shows off all those great machines seen on parade with the stats and price.A week after Founders day we annex another small annoying nation and add it to the collective.

Fireworks of course!

While New York and New Jersey initially seceded from the United States on separate dates we celebrate our unified declaration of independence from the US and declaration of alliance with one another which occurred on September 17, 2063. This is done with parades, carnivals, picnics, BBQ's, and culminates with fireworks that evening. It is a national holiday and all commerce is prohibited except essential services to keep infrastructure working e.g. public transit, utilities companies. Select government services and emergency services remain open, schools both public and private must be closed.

It's a thanks to the civilians as an honor to pass down the generations of re-building and strengthening helghan.

Sovereignty Day, which falls on 90 Unuary (20 March in the Gregorian Calendar System), is often celebrated with a day-long, nation-wide festival, including a number of national festivities.

The day's festivities begin at 0600 UTC with a nation-wide broadcast of a live performance of the National Anthem of YellowApple by a selected music ensemble (last year being the Symphonic Band of the Trololopolis Academy of the Arts), followed by a moment of silence in honor of all fallen YellowApplan soldiers. At this time, all video and audio broadcasts switch to their respective live reports of the events on both local and national scales and continue to do so throughout the day. After the conclusion of the 5-minute moment of silence, a breakfast is served, which lasts until 0800 UTC.

At 0800 UTC, local parades begin throughout YellowApple, showcasing locally-stationed regiments of the YellowApple Aerospace Marines, YellowApple Aerospace Defense Corps, and YellowApple Domestic Security Corps, as well as various performances by Intermediate Education performing arts programs, youth organizations, military alumni, popular recording artists, and other miscellaneous parade performers. This also includes various street vendors who will travel as part of the parade, selling various food and souvenir items to those watching the parade. The parade continues until 1200 UTC.

The YellowApplan Aerospace Defense Corps begins flying demonstrations at 1300 UTC throughout YellowApple (the hour of time between the parade and airshow is for those who haven't eaten yet to do so, and for the spectators to travel from the parade sites to the outer areas of their respective cities and settlements). The demonstrations showcase the many aerospace vehicles used in the defense of YellowApple. The most popular are the acrobatic formations and exercises performed by squadrons of Blade-class and Blade-II Interceptor squadrons, as the colorful engine streaks are great for creating skywritten patterns. These demonstrations continue until 1600 UTC

At 1700 UTC, the YellowApple National Pageant begins, highlighting the level of beauty throughout YellowApple. The local preliminary rounds have already taken place during the previous week, leaving one young woman per city or settlement group to compete in the national finals. The winner (chosen by Administrator Amarillo Manzano himself) is crowned Miss YellowApple and is rewarded with lifelong residence alongside Adm. Manzano, as well as the title of Honorary Diplomatic Representative and some (extremely limited) power in the YellowApple Department of International Relations; additionally, the winner is sent forth as YellowApple's contestant in various international pageants until the next Miss YellowApple is nominated. The pageant ends at 2000 UTC (the winner is not yet declared).

The last event, the National Recognition Ceremony, begins at 2100 UTC. Here, Administrator Manzano gives various awards and medals to YellowApplan individuals and organizations which have demonstrated themselves as positive examples of YellowApple as a whole. The most prestigious award, the YellowApple Medal of Honor, is given to those who have earned it at the end of the ceremony. Other awards announced include the title of Miss YellowApple and the YellowApple Certificate of Academic Achievement.

By 2300 UTC, the award ceremony is over and the events are officially over.

We have picnics, parades, fetes and political protests on the 25th May, the day of the founding of the union. Even before that, it was the day of several revolutions.

Foundation Day - September 8th - is celebrated across the country with fireworks displays: a lot of these also have music and mobile theme park rides. There's also usually a round of football, rugby union, netball and field hockey games as well (those four being the most popular sports) on this day.

It's also a Bank Holiday, so most have the day off.

The colony of Hensiferia was founded on November 10th 2015 (current date: July 4th 2022).
It isn't celebrated by any type of vacation, national holiday... fireworks, military parades or anything like that.

Well for starters we haven't had any founding day celebrations yet though the planned celebrations include the coronation of the Grand Duke/Duchess (we're still searching so if you have someone who can become Grand Duke/Duchess just click the link in my sig, it's all in there), followed by the signing of the constitution. Surrounding these great events of national importance are other events including sports, art, music and off course at the end of the day a great deal of fireworks in all of the major cities and especially in the three capitals. It's also the first day of the new year. Within the ensuing week the parliamentary elections will also take place.
We don't know what will happen next year though.
