-Technocratic Socialism
-Radical Environmentalism
-Green Engineering
-Bioregionalism
-Deep Ecology
-Open Software
-Extensive Educational Programs. We target mathematics and science especially.
-Equality
-Pacifism
-Anti-Militarism
-Constructing eco-friendly, yet monumental, technological and engineering feats.
-Maintaining our large work force. Over 98 percent of the people, the ones who are able to work, are employed.
-The Green Socialist Workers Party resides as the sole ruler of the nation. The Worker Districts are commanded by elected workers from their respective industries who are subject to replacement at any time. The GSWP decides large-scale projects that benefits the nation as a whole. They also ensure the Committees stay politically equal and corruption-free.

Our leaders tend to keep the following principles in mind:

1. "Isms" are inadequate
2. People will always conform to your expectations, good or bad
3. No single person has all the answers or deserves all the glory
4. Be reasonable, and balance competing interests as best you can

Whether or not what you tried to do to us(ripping our Leader's heart out, driving stakes through the MoS's heart, etc.) would be considered civilizing us is questionable, especially as you said the only reason you wouldn't wipe us all out is so that someday we can look back upon what we did and curse our ancestors. You never managed this, of course, but is it really very honourable to threaten mass murder?

Postby Yasashii » Sat Jul 02, 2011 8:42 am

Overview

Yasashii’s flag features a white sun rising with twelve rays. Each ray represents one of the principles outlined in the historic 1864 text Principles of the State. Along with the Founding Documents of 1844, the Twelve Principles form the original Constitution of Yasashii. Of course, today’s constitution focuses more on the actual power structure and machinery of the state and is much less philosophical, but the original Twelve Principles still forms the backbone of modern political thought in Yasashii.

Principles of The State (1864)

  1. The Law of Nature
Humans seek self-preservation, peace, and happiness in each other – they seek to live. This is an inalienable truth. Life is beautiful in and of itself and needs protection. No theological belief can provide this, the state is necessary. Humankind as a whole exists in irrationality and attempts to find comfort in artificial reasoning as they cannot accept the tension of existence. Humanity’s inability to accept the beauty of existence is its flaw, religion is its crutch, and only the state it real.
  2. The State of Nature
The natural stateless condition of humankind; dangerous and violent the State of Natures runs contrary to the Law of Nature. The state must not become the State of Nature – it must not become violent into itself. It must refrain from becoming an unfair player and thus illegitimate. The State thus seek to give the people as much freedom as permissible and prevent regression.
  3. Wisdom
Wisdom, in all its manifestations, is pivotal to personal development and enlightenment. The wise, who have reached a certain echelon of wisdom, must be given the power to rule of the unwise. The unwise risk damage to themselves and others and the wise seek protection as they understand and respect the Law of Nature. It is thus the duty and right of the wise to govern and prevent harm.
  4. The Contract
People seeking protection enter into a contract with each other, as guided by the wise. This contract provides and restricts all the same rights and freedoms for all who enter it. All men and women are thus equally obliged. Each seeks to give their right to violence to a powerful state provided all others do the same. Each person has rights insofar as the next, no person has more or less than any other.
  5. The Commonwealth
The Commonwealth is a collective of all men and women who have come together for their protection in numbers. Humans are social by nature and seek common ground. They seek happiness in each other and wish well for each other, seeking to mutually advance and progress and remain secure. With a contract, they become a Commonwealth, believing in each other’s existence and safety. It is not possible to be part of the Commonwealth and not part of its contract.
  6. The State
Constructed by all persons to enter civil society and maintain the Commonwealth. The power of the State protects humans from the abuses of one another and maintains the rights given to it by the people. It exists insofar as the Commonwealth exists which, in turn, exists insofar as the contract allows it to.
  7. The Sovereign
The authority in which state power is vested. The Sovereign is human as all others and thus bound by the same laws, but given power by the wise. The Sovereign is the final arbiter and exercises control. The Sovereign is the face of protection and the guide for the State and Commonwealth.
  8. Sovereignty
Supreme authority rests in the Sovereign, which is a creation of the wise. Subjects must obey the sovereignty which they have created as it rests in the wise and the rights of the wise to protect and govern.
  9. The Law
The exercise of the general will, the machinery to prevent all peoples from harming one another. The law reflects and applies to the Commonwealth and all those in it equally. As all in the Commonwealth accept the contract, no one person is above the law. The wise and the Sovereign create the laws.
  10. General Will
Each individual has an individual will which the state must protect from harm. The collection of individual wills forms the general will. The state itself is a reflection of the general will as expressed through the wise. The State thus acts in accordance to the general will and the will of the Sovereign aims at the common good.
  11. Civil society
The result of the Commonwealth, contract, and State. With civil society comes civil freedom and is the final product of the contract. By entering the contract, humankind learns to be rational and moral, to support and enhance personal development through common respect. The State must maintain civil society.
  12. Common Good
The aim of the contract, general will, and civil society. Through wisdom and personal development, a common good can be achieved and maintained. The State, by maintaining civil society, thus maintains the common good.

Modern Applications

  • Rule of Law – As outlined by the contract and laws that thereby enforce. No person, whether common, wise, or sovereign is above the contract and thus the law. As such, the rule of law is respected.
  • Legal Realism – As the principles reject theology and religion as a guide, it thus must accept that laws are made by the state and therefore humans. As such, laws may be imperfect and require change to suite the general will.
  • Unitary State and Statism – the power to protect all people in invested in the state. Like all states, Yasashii must maintain a monopoly on violence, though these principles outline a strong state and sovereign that is the final arbiter in all matters. Political subdivisions that are non-administrative weaken the central government and dilute the general will; as such, Yasashii's divisions lack political power.
  • Secularism/Existential Absurdism Rejects the notion of divine governance and mentions irrationality of existence and that humans suffer from a tension of not truly knowing the meaning of their existence and so create their own – they typically cannot accept that existence is beautiful in and of itself without a theological meaning. It accepts that only the state is real.
  • Efficient Government, Low Taxation and Personal Freedom – From the belief that the state must not become the state of nature in two ways: either ceasing to exist OR becoming a fearful, violent bully that becomes the biggest player in the State of Nature. As such, the state must truly exist to prevent harm, not become harmful or inhibit growth.
  • Platonic Noocracy – Rule of theWise – the principles acknowledge that entering into a contract requires a certain degree of intelligence to create, enforce, and sway humanity into entering it as the unwise will have urges contrary to the Law of Nature. In modern applications, it is what explains Yasashii’s education-based and weighted voting system. (See Article 29 of the Constitution of Yasashii)
  • Social Liberalism and Social Market Economy – From the principles of civil society and common good that promote personal development, the State becomes a positive, not a negative, actor – pushing individuals to excel and develop in their own ways. The state is a springboard for individuals, not a container, though it must seek to prevent harmful tendencies by damping the greedy urges of humanity.
