Does your nation have any form of witch-hunts? Kalaspia-Shimarata never used to have until the 1950's when witch-hunters were introduced by the communist government of Shimarata, now it is a quite common and illegal practise and in your nation? Most people are smart enough to know that witches don't exist

The only witches that exist in Saurisia are in fairy tales and popular media. Unless you count the female shamans of the various tribal peoples in our outer worlds as such. Thus, we do not indulge in witch hunts.

Witches do not exist except in fictional stories.

The National Socialist Grammarian Writers' Party will hunt down everyone who uses "which" when they mean "that."

Never mind, apparently they won't.

We have several elite units dedicated to tracking down those who would misuse the words 'Which' and 'Witch'.

Also ignore that ticking coming from under your chair.

No, witch hunts do not occur in Yasashii. Some people of pagan and wiccan beliefs may identify as witches and warlocks, though these people are an extremely small minority. Yasashii, even in pre-modern and pre-unification times, had no history of witch-blaming and hunting.

OOC: @ OP: You mean "witch" and "witches" not "which" and "whiches."

OOC:Thanks!

It's spelt "witch". :P

Witch-hunting is a state sponsored practice in TurtleShroom. Sorcery/witchcraft is a felony punishable by up to forty years in prison! Like any crime, police in Turtlehroom can arrest creatures for witchcraft if they have Probable Cause.

It is legal only if you are allowed by the government.

The situation in Mount Shavano is complicated, but fortunately not a major issue.

Hunting people with the intent of killing them, simply because they use magic or claim to, does not occur (although such are not generally socially accepted. We've had enough trouble with magic "shadow societies" in the past). Vigilantism against individuals known to use magic in a destructive fashion or whom are known to use evil means (necromancy, etc) to obtain said magic is fairly common when such events occur - meaning maybe once every other year since the 1997 war and is considered justified.

The pagans living in our country - almost as few of them - get somewhat shunned but maimed or killed. Good luck converting a dead man, right?

OOC: Mot folks don't know this from casual interaction with the Front Range, but nWoD is some of the source material the country is based on.

Part of Druidry, H-Alba's national and most widely practiced religion, is magic. Many H-Alban's believe in magic to this day. Witch-Hunts have never occurred in h-Alba on wide-scale levels, but have happened by the Christian and Muslim minority. The last witch hunt was in 1874, and the "Hunters" were hanged due to religious intolerance and murder.

No one can hunt a witch. Unless of course that is there government appointed position. Outside of that you do not leave your appointed housing-unit.

No. Witchcraft is common in our nation and witches are respected.

As for other kinds of witch hunts, at one point in history, but never since. When the criminal gangs were brought down, and Dagnia became a very safe nation, there was some fear of them rising again. There was never the hysteria for it to be called a witch hunt, but some possible innocent people were hurt.

McCarthy and Palmer type witch hunts were all the rage in the time of the GD. What bothers me is that everyone is taking the term 'witch hunt' all too literally.

Ahah. Witch-Hunters? You mean those idiots who try to slaughter magicians? Yes; a few of those happened upon our Steward; a Necromancer-Lord you see; and well...Lets just say they'll never be hunting anyone again, nor will their immortal souls.

Witches don't exist in Frenequesta; at least none that are native and can exercise their powers. We are certainly aware that a good number of countries are in universes where magic and witchcraft is perfectly within or a part of that universe's physical laws, although many such immigrants from these countries who were witches have found that their powers are rendered all but null upon coming here. In in unlikely event that one of her powers does function, they would be protected against vigilante behavior. Should it cause harm, they are merely charged with the harm and not the means by which it was done.

If you mean McCarthy-type political theatrics intended to uncover "treason" and scare away persons of a specific ideological group, we did once have a member of the Popular Legislature suggest that the Ministry of Law should be given the power to round up laiszze-faire capitalists, minarchists, and anarcho-capitalists for "questioning" in wake of our move to Aprioriposteriori following twenty disastrous years of following their policies, and actually was passed before being vetoed by the Ministry of Law itself.

Well the Witchcraft Act 1548 is still in force, with some later amendments, which outlaws witchcraft. As such the established Church of Harrow still appoints local Witchfinders and a Witchfinder-General in an odd tradition. The Witchfinders are still charged with investigating accused witches, strange, odd and supranatural happenings, as well as "acts repugnant to Christ". People accused of Witchcraft are prosecuted by the Witchfinder-General in court and are given a trial... usually they are innocent...

Witch-hunts are a timeless excuse for the Decemviri and the Nobility to eliminate their opponents in times of "deadly politics". In times of stability, some of the crueler nobles run them for fun.

We never had witch hunts, indeed witches were valued for their knowledge of medicines and healing methods (a 'witch' is a wise woman, not someone who does magic). In the past, when things went wrong we blamed the Jews.
