Actual witch hunts have been banned and unused since the year 1201 CE. Pretend, children ones are common games, however.

Despite Witchcraft still being illegal under Morridane law, Witch Hunts have not happened since the early 1700s (1930s in some places). The Witchcraft Act of 1735 effectively killed off Witch Hunts, though there have been one or two famous cases since the Act was introduced.

Though in certain rural locations local 'Folk Law' still holds true and its not uncommon to stumble across a person hanging from a tree bearing a sign that says 'WITCH!'.....though occasionally a murder trial follows on from this.

Witch-hunts in the traditional sense have yet to occur in YellowApple. However, witch-hunt-like events have occurred in the past, such as against those believed to be traitors against YellowApple. They rarely resulted in death, though, just involuntary servitude.

Religion in Goremenghast is more or less animistic with a certain amount of Ritual Magick, thus witches and wizards are important persons in our belief system. However, spells/incantations/etc. intended to cause harm a person are not permitted unless it is used to defend oneself or protect another from harm. Also, anyone caught willfully harming a witch or wizard or interfering in their magical practices (unless it is to prevent the magic user from harming another person without good reason) is considered guilty of a criminal act.

The 17th Century was the most prolific time for witch-hunts in Makaar, with several counties appointing witch-hunters to accuse and try witches. The practice died off in the 18th Century and was unheard of by the late 18th Century.

Nowadays, most Makaarians do not believe in witchcraft, and any witch-hunt would be quickly put to a stop by the police.

Witches aren't really a big deal here. They're not bulletproof so that's all that matters.

Every year there is a group of pagans that get together for their annual hunt and general party which they refer to, with some humor, as their "Witch Hunt" :)

Around the founding of the empire in the 900s AD witch and heretic hunts were VERY common, with thousands of witches and heretics being executed every year. Around the time of the fall of the first empire in the 1100s the number of witch hunts died down until the mid 1400s when a massive series of plagues caused paranoia, when the second empire was founded in 1495 all religions were made legal including those that would have been considered heretical, thus ending the witch hunts.

Seeing as a major religion in our nation is technically Wiccan - witch-hunting is STRONGLY frowned upon.

Benevolent witchcraft or magic practice is legal in the eye of the law. As for witch-hunting, the legality extend to those that commit malevolent practice of witchcraft or magic.

There are few successful witch hunting firms and organization that thrives rather well in Amanisoklavaninah such as the Mage-Busters Ltd., Pure-A-Witch NPO and Necr-Oh-no-Me-Conned Plc.
