Although I recently had to make a controversial decision regarding female wages, males and females are regarded as equals. E.g. In Former Principalities at least 50% of the agricultural workforce, and over 30% of the industrial workforce, are females. We do not allow females in the armed forces as front-line soldiers, but instead as field surgeons (this encourages them to use our free state-provided education system).

My nation is not like my nation page at all, it contradicts itself, we don't EVER eat kangaroos, that's just very sad. Also vegetarianism is compulsory yet it still says it's the nation's favourite main course and all and stuff.

Our laws do not delineate between women and men. Most of the male-centered camps of society have eroded. Women are almost always equal, not just under the law, but also in terms of society: they are paid the same, and tend to be considered equal. Men often become stay-at-home dads: this is not unusual, and often times at least one adult (either mother or father) stays home with the children until the youngest is past 10 or 12.

In terms of government, our ruler is the first born child of the last: male or female. Then when that person marries, they rule mostly jointly with their spouse. Though legally we have just one ruler, power is shared.

The clue is in the title - The MATRIARCHY of Uthan Belentor.

Each family is headed by a matriarch, who has custody and stewardship of the family's land and property. By the right of primogeniture the status of matriarch passes from mother to eldest daughter, although it can pass to another daughter or a sister if the eldest daughter is unable or unwilling to perform that duty. Recent legal reforms mean that a mother can now pass the 'matriarchy' to her son, although this is rare.

The government is still headed by The Matriarch, and each regional Council by a Governess, although recent reforms have given men the right to vote on equal terms with women and to stand for election to the Congress (formerly the Congress of Sisters).

Traditionally men were regarded as little more than useful additions to the labour force, without the intellectual capacity to understand the compexities of finance or politics. Their education usually stopped at age 12, while their sisters - especially those designated as matriarchs-in-waiting - often went on University.

Belentorian men have made significant steps towards equality in recent years.

The Status of Woman, in Raysia

On the law books, men and women have equal rights. The government does not define what a marriage is, nor do they define what a family is. The government, however, does seek to protect children, and will relocate them to more suitable families if they find evidence that a child is being abused or raised by inadequate or incompetent parents.

Women are treated with respect in all cases. According to recent studies, most Raysian men treat women (both stranger and familiar) with a level of respect somewhere between co-equal and goddess. Men are looked to by women as providers and defenders, though many women do share the burden, most often by choice. Men consider themselves duty-bound to be the providers for the women and children, and as such most women do not feel the need to work outside the home. However, most single women do participate quite strongly in the workforce or militia. Some married women also choose to participate in non-homemaker roles, and are treated at least as equals in every place.

The age of consent is 16, plus or minus 2 years depending on the other party to whom they are consenting (ie, a 14 year old girl can marry a 16 year old male, if they choose to do so. An 18 year old boy can have sexual relations with a 16 year old girl, or a 16 year old with a 14 year old... but not an 18 year old and a 14 year old, or a 20 year old and a 16 year old.)

Raysian philosophy and Religion holds that all females have the potential to become goddesses after mortality, and as such they are often treated like the royalty they should be treated as, or at the very least as an equal to the equally-promised males.

Women are banned from the Holy Monastic Republic, excepting rare and highly unusual situations revolving around the Archregimancy's quixotic participation in international sport, specifically as regards permitting the entry of female players on international football/soccer teams during qualification for the NationStates World Cup.

It's not that women are lightly valued - their equal role in secular society is recognised - but the Archregimancy is not a secular society. The Holy Monastic Republic is dedicated to the Mother of God, and to guarantee her primacy of honour, the Theotokos is the only woman usually permitted (as an icon) in the country.

And if you're wondering 'where do baby monks come from', the answer is the Holy Empire; the Archregimancy is essentially a huge seminary for that nation.

Women do have the same rights as men in the Vamperial Kingdom. In the past, we have had a number of Queens, female Commanders and a number of women have climbed the ranks of the Vamperial Kingdom with much success. However, combat doesn't really stand out to women and they tend to do office duties and the like.

Service in The Ambrosian Defence Corps. is compulsory, male or female. At age 18, males are required to enlist for four years, while females enlist for a required two years. Most females in the ADC occupy administrative or secretarial positions, however more and more women are finding their calling in combat and field positions. Civilian freedoms for females are considerable, albeit not as considerable as males. Since HM Camilla's coronation, females are receiving a better voice in Ambrosian society.

Legally, women have the same rights and are equal to men. Culturally, this is true for pretty much the entire nation. Women hold the same jobs as men, earn the same wages, and are treated equally. However, there are a few communities in the south and east that act much like the Amish, where the men mainly work and the women usually stay home. This, however, is not an absolute, a quite a few women have run businesses and participated in local government. In addition, women in these areas are treated with a high deal of respect, as the local cultures forbid such acts as wife beating and rape, and are often steeped in chivalry.

French men and French women are completely equal by law. There are supremacists, sexists and the like on both sides, but such is thankfully rare.

Completely equal in the eyes of the law. Some find Callisdrunian society to be "matriarchal," and it used to be, in reality. Divorce law especially used to be heavily tilted to favor women, who could divorce their husbands for any reason while keeping everything. Now things are more fair.

Pay is equal, there are no "male jobs" and "female jobs," and women have served as monarchs, prime ministers and in almost every conceivable political position. They are also front line troops in the military, which is fairly equal in numbers from each gender.

Among the moroii, some matriarchal ways of the past still persist.
