We mostly use English and our native language Midandian, the nation's official languages.
Midandian is dying out though, and we don't really teach it in schools.
Citizens who can only speak Midandian are going to have a tough time in the nation though.

The official language is English, specifically Standard British English, and the various dialects in Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland and South Africa, though other more divergent dialects like Scots and Ulster-Scots are also spoken.
The co-official languages are Afrikaans, Irish, French, Hindi and Urdu, being the state languages of the Dominions. (South Africa, Ireland, Canada and India respectively. Australia, New Zealand, Southern Rhodesia and Newfoundland only have English, though for the record New Zealand is debating whether to make Maori co-official, and Southern Rhodesia is contemplating Afrikaans, Shona and Ndebele (Matabele) as additional official languages.)
The most widely-spoken is Hindi.

What language(s) do people in your nation speak in their daily lives and for official business?

For official business, media, and day to day circumstances, British standard English is used. For select parties, events and social gatherings, Cajun French is normally spoken.

Is your nation largely monolingual? Or are people expected to know more than one language? People are generally expected to know both English and Cajun French. Though one could easily get away with only knowing one.

Which alphabet is used in writing? Traditional Latin alphabet.

Does your nation use a constructed language or one from the real world? Real world

If it is not English: Can you translate something for the NSistoj?

Cajun French is actually pretty niche in itself. To most Parisians, it sounds like a weird 17th-century patois from the south of France.

Our national language is Italian, however, everyone is expected to have at least basic English knowledge in order to get a job. Another language is Zenéize (the dialect spoken in Genova, Italy), which citizens are not required to know but which is still considered an official language, because the majority of people speaks it together with Italian. Documents addressed to the citizens are written in all of these three languages: English, Italian and Zenéize

Yakutikov citizens tend to speak Ukrainian, Polish, Romanian, Hungarian or Slovakian, depending on where they live. This came as a result of the Pochaiv Dispute which saw many of the native Ukrainian speakers flee to Ukraine, leaving the minorities in many of the more rural areas as the new majority.
This is mostly in the rural areas and small towns/villages. In the large cities, Ukrainian is still the majority language.
To bridge this divide (no native language is spoken by more than 40% of the population), the government of Yakutikov decided to create a language for all Yakuts, irrelevant of their native language. This is now the only official national language.
The local languages are mostly used in private or in border towns, like the city of Uzhhorod which speaks mostly Slovakian, with a Hungarian minority; or the village of Astei which is 100% Hungarian, by language.

The Yakut language is written in it's own version of the Latin alphabet. It is also possible, but difficult, to write it in Cyrillic, however, because of the limited sounds in the Cyrillic alphabet, Yakut written in Cyrillic is quite complicated and words tend to be necessarily long.

Here is an example of the Yakut language. This is the Presidential Declaration that established the National Broadcasting Service.

OOC: The "Yakut Language" is actually Maltese. In my rp, Malta just speaks Italian. :rofl:

The official languages are English, Fijian and Maori but Arabic, Indonesian, French, Filipino and Spanish are also very popular. On average, the inhabitants know 2 languages but in some areas of the country they can also speak 3, 4 or even 5. Furthermore, in the Confederate State of the Comicsverse, Hsilgn is also considered as an official language, which is practically like English only that all the words are reversed and take away the final letter.
Examples:
Hello= Olle
How are you?= Uoy ear wo?
Goodbye= Eybdoo
