What language(s) do people in your nation speak in their daily lives and for official business? Shurturian High German and High Gothic are used in Shurtur. High German is the official language of Shurtur, while High Gothic is used mostly in small villages to the south-east of Shurtur. Shurturian Hieratic Latin is used in religious context.
Is your nation largely monolingual? Or are people expected to know more than one language? People are taught all three languages in school.
Which alphabet is used in writing? All three languages employ the Latin alphabet.
Does your nation use a constructed language or one from the real world? Shurturian High German and Hieratic Latin are real languages (Old High German and Classical Latin, respectively). High Gothic is a conlang, based on Gothic and Polish.

Axeshi speaks the Axeshine language throughout the country, though using local dialects of the language casually. The Standard Dialect of Axeshine is the dialect spoken in the capital.

Writing Axeshine involves the use of an abugida-syllabary hybrid writing system (not finished). A vowel and optionally an initial consonant are represented by a base symbol, whilst diacritics are used to: add an extra consonant to the beginning (before the consonant in the base symbol), add an extra vowel (after the vowel in the base symbol), and add a consonant to the end of the syllable.

Axeshine is a WIP constructed language.

What language(s) do people in your nation speak in their daily lives and for official business?
  • Беларуская (Belarusian)
  • Українська (Ukrainian)
  • Nyskandinavisk (Neo-Scandinavian)
Is your nation largely monolingual? Or are people expected to know more than one language? Belarusian and Ukrainian are mutually intelligible to some degree. But most people can also speak Neo-Scandinavian, and that is used as the common language.

Which alphabet is used in writing? Belarusian and Ukrainian use a Cyrillic alphabet. Neo-Scandinavian uses a Latin alphabet, but with the extra letters {æ ø å} and without {c q w x z}. In school, Neo-Scandinavian is first taught in Cyrillic so students can focus on the more important vocabulary and grammar; they learn the new alphabet after they have basic mastery of the language.

Does your nation use a constructed language or one from the real world? Belarusian and Ukrainian are natural languages. Neo-Scandinavian is an artificial language, but it retains most of the words and pronunciation of Norwegian Bokmål.

If it is not English: Can you translate something for the NSistoj? The phrase "freedom or death" in all 3 languages:
  • Belarusian – Свабода аво смерць!
  • Ukrainian – Свобода аво смерть!
  • Neo-Scandinavian – Frihet eller død!
Свабода аво смерць! – Свобода аво смерть! – Frihet eller død!
Name: Free State of Belarus and Ukraine
Capital: Miensk
Official languages: Belarusian, Ukrainian, Neo-Scandinavian
Regional languages: Bulgarian, Crimean Tatar, Czechoslovak, Hungarian, Lithuanian, Polish, Romanian, Yiddish
Main foreign languages: German, Italian
Leader: Chancellor Maksym Petrovyč
Government: single-party presidential republic
Ideology: liberal nationalism

(I don't actually speak Belarusian or Ukrainian IRL, so I apologise if I butcher your language!)

The language of commerce and communication on the national level is the East Angrian Standard of Low German (Stanaart-zesiʃ). It's a real-world language, based mostly on the North Low Saxon and Eastphalian dialects of Low German. But it is engineered and officially regulated for use in all relevant fields. It includes gender-neutral pronouns, scientific, political and medical terms, a bunch of abbreviations and a standard phonology.

Various Low Franconian, West Central German, Low German and Frisian dialects are spoken across the country. These are all West Germanic languages and largely mutually intellegible. Then there is Jutlandic Danish in the north, which is a North Germanic language. Dozens of minority languages are being spoken across the country, which have been brought there by immigrants from all over the world.
Minority languages and local dialects have a high degree of prestige and are widely used in everyday life. These dialects are completely unregulated and natural. Their development depends on the speakers and the use of the language alone.

East Angria has no orthography, but an official script. It's a stripped-down version of the International Phonetic Alphabet, which accounts for all phonemes across the territory's languages. The "correct spelling" of the national language is derived from the regulated phonology.
the People of East Angria, a.k.a. the Anarchist Commune of Sassony a free territory covering most of the Low Countries, northern and western Germany, and continental Denmark, with a distinct social anarchist, pacifist, and solarpunk vibe.

What language(s) do people in your nation speak in their daily lives and for official business?
Spanish and English are used by almost all Abarrians for daily communication. English is much more prevalent in official business.
Italian and French can be heard in the largest cities.

Is your nation largely monolingual? Or are people expected to know more than one language?
Abarri is mostly bilingual.

Which alphabet is used in writing?
The Roman alphabet, of course.

Does your nation use a constructed language or one from the real world?
Real world languages; interestingly enough, the now-extinct Abarri Creole was formed by combining Spanish and Italian vocabulary and employing verb conjugations just like that in English.

What language(s) do people in your nation speak in their daily lives and for official business?
English and Colorresque are the main languages of Colorra. People use Colorresque more than English for everyday situations. English is used by the government, businesses, and for using the Internet.

Is your nation largely monolingual? Or are people expected to know more than one language?
Largely bilingual, with 48% of the kingdom. 27% has only a mastery of English, while 25% has a solid comprehension of Colorresque only.

Which alphabet is used in writing?
Regular Roman script. Most Colorrans use cursive handwriting for English, though.

Does your nation use a constructed language or one from the real world?
A "constructed" language, Colorresque is actually a rip-off of Spanish that borrows words from French and Latin. Some Spanish verbs and expressions cannot be translated to Colorresque.

If it is not English: Can you translate something for the NSistoj?
"Unity through indifference" in Colorresque is <<Unidad pour indiferencea>>.
"Kingdom of Colorra" is translated as <<Reino colorrense>>.

Writing resembles English letters, though there are some very unique characters not found in the English language.

Most non-governmental agencies, corporations and organizations carry out operations in Salian, as does the government of the Realm and the majority of the public.
Is your nation largely monolingual? Or are people expected to know more than one language?
The Royal Commission for Salian Language Education mandates that all Salians be fluent in the Salian language; however, the Ministry for Education has "Moderate to high English competency" as a high school graduate's benchmark.
Which alphabet is used in writing?
The Latin alphabet, as modified for the Salian language.
Does your nation use a constructed language or one from the real world?
Salian is, to the best knowledge of linguists, either an isolate or related only to the Darian and Asilian languages spoken in western Kanaria and is an a priori constructed language.

Obergefell v Hodges wrote:No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.
The judgment of the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit is reversed.
It is so ordered.

What language(s) do people in your nation speak in their daily lives and for official business?

The majority of the population speak a variety of Continental Celtic languages, with German, Basque, Slavic, and Arabic regional minority languages.

Garios Regiz, "Standard Speech", is a universally-taught register based on 16th-century Arvernac Gaulish that is used in most formal and official circumstances.

Is your nation largely monolingual? Or are people expected to know more than one language?

The nation is mostly multilingual, and only speaking Garios Regiz is usually seen as an indicator that one is a foreigner or foreign-born.

Which alphabet is used in writing?

Though a romanization exists, the Celtonetez - Celtic Syllabary - is almost universally used.

Does your nation use a constructed language or one from the real world?
