Well yes, if the person watching survived long enough to go insane. Most likely, their head would simultaneously self-combust as their brains exploded, creating a huge, fiery explosion within the room where they were watching the television.

I could see Firefly being popular in Radictistan. It's anti-authority message and dash of moral amiguity would resonate with a lot of Radictistanis. I can't think of any other real life shows right now. Crime shows are out, along with anything that's too idealistic.

Somehow, past all the censorship and repression, the old regime managed to hammer out a localized version of Law & Order. It is still the most-watched TV show in Thurask for around 15 years and counting.

Anyway, most of the "IRL" stuff available in the US and the rest of South America is available on satellite (or cable). Including TeleSur.

Almost all of our English channels are rebroadcasts of American TV channels from Alaska... so we get ABC, NBC, PBS, CBS, Fox, CW, Discovery, History, Animal Planet, CNN, Fox News, Telemundo, Spike, Comedy, Syfy, Bravo, MTV, etc. Additionally, a few international channels, like Sun News, BBC World, ABC News 24, NHK World, Sky News, and Russia Today are permitted on the air. However, a few networks with a perceived left wing bias, such as Current TV, MSNBC, and the CBC, have not been granted licences to broadcast on the isle.

OOC: We have no "real" TV shows, as this is a fictional nation with no ties whatsoever to the real world.

IC: All our TV shows are "real". They have real actors, real writers, real directors, real advertisers. Even the animated shows are real because real people did the animation. The only thing we do not have is that abomination called "reality TV". Those are very unpopular, and not a bit silly.
