Moon & Mars Colonies and Space Stations

Postby Kalaspia-Shimarata » Mon Jun 27, 2011 7:07 am

This thread applies for EARTH-BASED nations. If you are not an Earth based nation, you may still post, even though this thread does not apply to you.

Does your nation have any colonies on the moon (and by moon, I mean Earth's moon, Luna) or Mars? Perhaps you have colonies on other planets, dwarf planets or moons. Do have a space station? do you have multipul space stations? Do you maybe share a space station with another, many other nations? Discuss.

In Kalaspia-Shimarata, we have a moon a colony and a space station. Our moon colony is called Fegari, which is the greek word for moon (Fegari's Greek name is actually moon, which is "Μοον" in Greeek spelling). We have only started exploring Mars and are yet to colonise it, but when we do colonise it, it'll not be as large as Fegari as Luna belongs to Earth but Mars is its own indipendit entity. We also have dreams of colonising Mar's moons, and when we do, then will increase the Mars colony to make it a base colony. We have a space station too. Our space station is exactly halfway between Earth and our Moon colony. It is called Mesirezi. Before anyone asks, no, we are not stupid enough to colonies the dark side of the moon when are an Earth-based nation. Anyway, enough about our space endeavors, let's us hear about the space endeavors of you awsome nation!

Kalaspia-Shimarata's flag represents the Union between K&S. The dark blue represents the sea and the light blue represents the sky. In Kalashi language considers light blue and dark blue to be different colours. England colonised, and unified K&S, between 1774 and 1953, and English, light blue and dark blue are considered to be the same colour. Therefore, the contrast between dark blue and light blue represents the union, but the differences between K&S where as blue being two but simultaneously one colour represents K&S being two, but simultaniously one entity. The opposite to the symmetry represents the unity and indipendance of K&S, whilst also representing the Kalashi culture of opposite symmetry.KS is 75% Christian, hence the cross.

Not at the moment, but Nohn's space program is working on it. We're hoping to get a man into orbit by the end of the decade using adapted sythen technologies. Before the Event, on Cirundi, the syth had established bases on both of their planets moons - Alashar and Idreal - so we believe it's quite possible to use that tech to establish a base for humans on Luna.

Alas, we do not have any of these, but soon the AEther Exploration Corps. will make our nation's first foray into the AEther. The first launch is sceduled for next year (1912). Originally were going to content ourselves with merely entering the AEtheric void and returning to Earth safely, however we have decided to go the extra mile and try to make it to the Moon on our first go.

We invaded Earth, but haven't bothered with its moon due to that rock's lack of oil. Mars is looking promising; it appears there was once biolife there - and where biolife has been, there is usually oil now. Exploratory drilling will probably begin soon.

Before anyone asks, no, we are not stupid enough to colonies the dark side of the moon when are an Earth-based nation.

What'd be stupid about colonizing the dark side of the moon?

YellowApple has a number of orbital outposts around Earth and in the La Grange points between Earth and Luna (in fact, L1 is the location of Project Black). There are also a number of space stations orbiting other planets, although they are, for the most part, automated, as personnel transport is restricted to military vehicles only at this time, thus restricting civilian celestial habitation.

There are no ground-side colonies on any planetary or moon surface. However, several planets do have aerial and aquatic settlements similar to those on Earth.

Why can't Earth based nations have space colonies and space stations?

We have colonies and space stations...they just aren't on Mars or 'the Moon'.

Though they are on our's planet's moon and our planet's closest planet, which is almost identical to Mars.

We have space colonies on Mars, Venus, and Vulcan. However, the third one was destroyed by a foe of ours called the Romulans. We do also have space stations on the asteroids Ceres and Woden III, and we also have a space hotel orbiting Earth. The moon has no importance to us whatsoever and is considered a backwaters renegade colony of cultists and space pirates.

Since the first landing on Mars in 2020 we have always had a perment presence on Mars (although our colony is just few mars direct habs) We have also done the same on the Moon and have a large 24 person space staion in earth orbit once again using the Mars direct derived hardware. Thanks to large military cuts missions to Jupiter and Saturn have also ocured.

We are in a solar system on the outer rim of the galaxy. Most of our people live on one planet, but there are space stations and colonies on moons, other planets in the system and floating cities over gas giants.

As for the poll, I think it might have been better if we could choose multiple options.

The C-21 Viking is the most populated Marisenan colony on the moon, with a population of 9,600. There are smaller colonies such as:
C-24 Odysseus, pop: 3,581
C-36 Artemis, pop: 5,216
C-39 Mayari, pop: 914
C-41 Gleti, pop: 851
C-42 Phobe, pop: 419
Total Lunar population: 20,581

There are two Martian colonies which are linked by the high-speed Via Boann Railway, M-19 "Wilhelma" and M-21 "Brinnicus", and have a total population of 32,814.

These colonies make up the Intervallie Republic and and have a seat in the Imperial Council.

In Lelf, we have colonies on the moon, and mars. A space station is currently being constructed on Pluto, to be completed in around 10 years. We look to the stars mainly so that in the event a global catastrophe, we are able to just leave. Our population that is non-earth based is around 10,000.

In our corner of this particularly broken reality, Mars has a thriving population of dozens of nations, and has been somewhat terraformed. It has an operating government of sorts in the Duma, and our nation has holdings there, along with various alliance ties and other folks.

Saturn and its moons are controlled by the Triumvirate of Yut - our first alliance, and from whence we got a start on advanced technology. We also have holdings here on Titan, and in a large space station complex at the L5(4? It has been a while) Legrange point - Machiavelli Station.

Venus is also divied up by a number of nations, some of which are allies. We have no holdings there.

Mercury is acknowledged to be controlled by an ally - The Caloris Basin, and we have a small holding there.

The moon Io is NDA-controlled overall, but there are other interests we recognize with holdings there (believe it or not, it is a very long, drawn out history and heavily rp'd in the past), and Jupiter and its overall system, when last we checked, were more or less controlled by various factions involved in the Jovian League.

Some of our other holdings are extrasolar in nature, so need not be gone into detail here. We are, of course, first and foremost Earth-based, and always have been, located comfortably in what some 'realists' recognize as the Mediterranean area.

I think that about covers it, recognizing of course that given how reality is broken, it allows for overlap in claims without necessarily meaning one side or another is 'wrong' - it simply exists for some in one way, and for some in others, without necessary interaction or conflict.

Moon & Mars Colonies and Space Stations

Postby Parhe » Tue Jun 28, 2011 1:21 am

Parhe and Silla has many colonies. The bigger moons of Jupiter and Saturn have been terra formed by Parhe and Silla. Other countries of our Solar System(Very similar to regular Earth, except for some human history) has terra formed other parts of the Solar System, such as America terra forming Mars and the moon, the Soviet Union terra forming Pluto and Venus, China terra forming Mercury, and the European Union controls the satellites of Uranus and Neptune.

The are several instalations orbiting Earth. Our first Lunar base will celebrate its 2nd anniverary in 5 months. A mission to send the first Savedlish man to mars is under development. We expect a sucessful landing in the next 5 years. Plans for martian colonies are also under develoment.
The United Federated Districts of Hevora. Or Savedland, as it is often hideously anglicized...

We are a large, free, powerful and beautiful country with a very long history that stretches back thousands upon thousands of years.

We are a union of many nations and cultures. The most dominant and shared by almost everyone is that of the Hevoran (Savedlish) People. It has its roots lying in an ancient creole culture that emerged from extensive contact between a bronze age hellenic and norse civilization which evolved convergeantly on an fictional, alternate universe Earth.

Bit weird, I know. But we're a lovely culture if you care enough to get to know us! :D
