Marraige laws in youur country?

Postby Free Pangea » Sun Jun 26, 2011 5:03 pm

What are the laws on marraige/annulment in your nation? I won't make a poll because thereb are way too many possible options.
In free pangea you can marry whoever or whatever you want and easily get an annullment without giving a reason (only one of them has to request it). There are no laws/restrictions.

We have no marriage laws what so ever. Marriage is a religious right and thus not the governments area to control, if your region says you can marry two men and a goat go for it.

Marriage? Yes, we have that, but only between males and other males of a species capable of giving legal consent. Woman have no rights, and can have anything done to them without their consent, so marriage is unnecessary. Divorce is illegal (to keep down unnecessary marriage; you need to know what you're getting into), and one is allowed to take their daughter, mother, cousin, ect. as a slavegirl if they go through the proper purchase steps
THIS IS PERSIA!

Most marriages are legal even if the clergy might not bless the more unnatural ones, it have even been suggested that the Nicksyllvanian problem should be solved with the crown prince taking a second wife even if his current one is alive.

Marriage laws vary by state.

Now, marriage laws do not dictate with whom one may live, nor with whom one may copulate. The first is unregulated, and the second is governed by our social codes. Marriage laws simply define which couples are eligible for tax benefits and for marital privileges in civil law.

All states grant civil unions or other marriage equivalents to pairs of clinically sane, consenting individuals of the appropriate age regardless of gender. Most states allow gender neutral marriages.

For Federal tax purposes, only marriage must be between two people only. This is to prevent mass marriages of convenience and marriages to inanimate objects for the purpose of obtaining tax benefits. All states except Asyria have identical policies.

17 is the minimum age for marriage in all states except Cavisca, Suradia, Arcvera, Arolinea, Ivroa, the Komdu-Sæll Islands, Neuthena, and Iscardia, which allow marriage at 16. Exceptions for underage pregnancy are available in most states.

Anullment laws vary too widely by state and are too complex to merit listing them here.

Marriage is only allowed between two consenting individuals no matter what their gender is. The age of 18 but you can get married as young as 15 provided you have consent from your parents or legal guardians.

The only law we have is that you must be at least 14 and consenting. Other than that, pretty much anything goes.

"Marry whoever the hell ya want, its not like i care" - High General. Oashgar responding to a letter written by a gay couple

in the Branriech citizens can marry anyone they please, regardless of gender, race and speicies. although the last one rarely ever happens

marriages are also not preformed by any religious groups, citizens are married by the town mayor without religion being involved at all

Marriage law differs by province. In the Imperial Province, it is an occasionally complex affair, one also occasionally criticized as unequal.

A woman may take several men as husbands. No limit is specified, but customarily, five or six is the maximum you really see. She may also marry one other woman. If two women marry, the two may have husbands in common.

Men may not have multiple women as wives, except in the above noted circumstance wherein the wives are married to each other and have chosen to marry each other's husbands.

Divorce is also unequal in the Imperial Province. A wife may divorce a husband at any time, essentially kicking him out and retaining all property. A husband must have grounds to start divorce proceedings with his wife. Two women or two men getting divorced from each other generally works in the fashion of "no-fault" divorce common in some foreign states.

Straight and lesbian. The one in most cases who first asks for a divorce is held to be to blame and loses most of their stuff.

Marriage is a religious/ceremonial act and therefore is not regulated by the goverment, if you can find a place that will marry you then go for it. However the state does recognise civil unions between two humans. A civil union is required for a couple to be technically "married" in the eyes of the state.
