Good vs. Evil

Compared to most modern societies, the Kel-Elysian Imperium doubtlessly ranks as lawful evil. Imperial military forces are trained to slaughter civilians from the opposing nation, the Imperium maintains death camps to systematically massacre POWs and political prisoners, and those criminals and one of its industries is trading slaves from Africa. However, all this is done for the good of the Imperium at large, which is where "lawful" comes in.

[Jerusalem and Damascus]

Honestly, Jerusalem and Damascus is more or less just occupying a different history of the Earth, and is as such subject to all the same negatives and positives that a nation in the real world is subject to. While it does its best to support people's freedoms, and work for peace, there are many, many people who would agree it is evil for whatever reason, and many people who would feel the exact opposite.

Our nation is compassionate and cares deeply about its people and their welfare, so I guess it could be called good.

On the other hand, we defer to a despotic dictator for our leadership. So maybe not so good.

New Gothland morally is in the grey area, meaning that we commit a balance of both very good and generous acts, and incredibly evil vile acts. But all evil we do commit is considered a neccissary evil by the military and the government, results of the hostile and very violent enviorment in which the nation was forged. Everything we do we do to ensure the continued survival of our nation, our culture, and our people as a whole. To our own people and allies the state attempts to be as commpasionate, helpful, and as non intrusive as possible, though at times the latter becomes more difficult. To the enemies of our state however there is simply no mercy given. A tiger does not think twice about mauling the villager who wanders to close to her cubs, and New Gothland does not think twice about resorting to genocide to ensure total and complete victory. Exist on our good side and it is sunshine, smiles, and roses, step across that line however and it is a world of raining ash, fire, and total ruin. We are a very close knit, community based, and compassionate if not a cynical society. When unknown horrors stalk the night thirsting for flesh and blood, one cannot turn their back on ones neighbors and attempt to save ones own skin, for the strong and united community is like a fortress against the encroaching darkness. Our national motto I believe says it all. "Sic gorgiamus allos subjectatos nunc", we gladly feast on those that would subjugate us. Meaning we are fine and dandy to get along with you, but tempt our wrath or force yourselves upon us, and we will destory you and your children too. Is this "extreme" or "evil" perhaps, but good and evil are relative things and extreme behavior is sometimes all that keeps the monsters at bay. So label us however you wish. To the starving Fintelwoodlian homeless man who now sits happily with a belly full of food in a warm bed, and a new job to support his kin we are saviors, the answer to decades of desperate tearful prayers. To the dissenter who now rots in a labor camp, beaten, broken, and starving we may perhaps be the devil. But would that man be in such hell if he had not simply fallen in line? If he had not been greedy or selfish? We are divine punishment for the wicked and unworthy, and a helping hand to the downtrodden and oppressed. We are the heralds of the Anukai, the prophets of doom, the choir of salvation. Despair, weep, or rejoice, either way our holy march is eternal, and our destiny inevitable. The sons of Anu will not be denied.

As AU912 has not committed many acts of extraordinary Good or Evil, it may depend on your point of view.
- AU912 might be seen as Chaotic Evil: a hive of wretched scum and villainy who have little use for law and order beyond that which allows the state to claim nationhood.
- AU912 might be seen as Neutral Evil: a land where the wealthy have few restrictions placed on their excesses, while the poor have little protection from low wages, poor health care, etc.
- AU912 might be seen as Lawful Evil: while it allows the people freedom to express themselves and explore alternate lifestyles, when those expressions and lifetyles interfere with industry, commerce, and the lives of those who don't care for their attitude, they are asked to leave.

On the other hand, AU912 might be seen as Chaotic Good: a society which provides minimal but sufficient services, freedom from unwanted intervention by foreign powers, and freedom to explore expression, opportunities, and ideas, with minimal negative impacts on our citizens and those of other nations who do not take aggressive action against us.

Most countries probably see New Chelel as evil. Our leaders view this as an understandable error, and likely due to one or mor of the following cultural differences:
- Our people may resemble imagery of mythical evil beings in some cultures.
- Our system of government is considered primitive by many.
- Holding an election is a crime here.
- Break our most serious laws and you may find yourself beheaded on the spot, forced to fight for your life on a gameshow, or sold in the slave market.
- We have no taboos against survival cannibalism, and our people have been known to hunt the citizens of other nations for food on occasion.
- We have no laws against incest, and the age of consent is 10 (and that's by unwritten tradition rather than by law).

[Ruthsen]

Although both the Ruthsenian government and its' ("civilized") citizens sees the country as Good, colonial subjects and some nations see it as Evil, for several reasons. To name a few of them:

- Horrible working conditions - Most working class people work in dangerous conditions, and are often at risk of severe injury or even death.
- Massive use of child labour - Again, this mostly applies to working class children, although some middle class kids work as well. This, combined with its' horrible working conditions is bad news indeed - many children, for example, work as chimney sweeps, and most of them die of lung cancer by the time they're 30.
- Few womens' rights - Finding a woman in a position of power is a near-impossible task when it comes to Ruthsen. Indeed, most job opportunities are closed to women, and when they CAN get a job, the pay is usually much lower than that of a man. Women are expected to be homemakers and child raisers, anything else is deemed unfeminine.
- Rampant racism - To the point where the official government stance is one somewhat supportive of racism - government funded studies have concluded many races to be of inferior intellect or strength, or both. Anyone seen of non-European descent is deemed inferior, uncivilized and barbaric.
- An extreme way of dealing with issues - Ruthsen has committed several small-scale genocides against colonial subjects who have revolted against the government.

[Zemvoray]

Zemvoray is of course the most holy and devout of nations, and the Zemvora people are blessed by the Most High.

However, other "nations" see us as a "psychotic" "dictatorship" with no "freedom". If by "freedom" they mean "sinful activities", then yes, they are correct.

[Cruciland]

CRUCILAND: Both extremely good and extremely evil.
We'd have to say "good" because we fight for what's right, and our citizens are as optimistic as hell about their empire. However, the "evil" part comes in because while we think ourselves as only good, others think that some of our policies (taking free will, corporatism, and extreme ideological intolerance) are horrific. In our defense, that's only because they're wrong.

[Teddy Bear Republic]

The TBRE doesn't fit into either good or evil - we do accept we have flaws - but we're more good than evil. Of course, what good is is debatable, but our policies are well-intentioned, our citizens are happy, tolerant, and caring.

Olthar is a good and righteous nation working towards the betterment of all. We mentally enslave our own citizens so as to focus them more effectively on worker productivity and output, raising the economy, making the nation's companies richer, and giving the nation's wealthy a higher standard of living. Plus, since our citizens literally do only what we tell them, we can simply tell them that they're satisfied with their lives, and they no longer have anything to complain about. Our citizens know only happiness.

By our time period, we don't worry about fundamentally subjective moral judgements such as 'good' or 'evil'. You may wish to read our factbook, and decide for yourself.

Hmm.. I would have to put Chaotic on Good because I am in General good and stand up to the moral high grounds but my country is simply a monstrosity when in a war, On the good fight but fighting dirty. Then again, I am the one who picks fights with larger populations so I kind of have to fight with total war tactics.
