The recoil is not feasible to control, and the ammunition will be not only ungodly large, but ungodly heavy. You're firing rounds with almost autocannon levels of power.

Honestly I think it's rather nicely done. You may want to clear off those rails on the receiver though. (White rectangles are a godsend.)

IMO, rear. By moving it lower and physically over the sight housing, you could claim that it still has the iron sight clear. Though raising the front slightly at the same time couldn't hurt.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment if not the phrasing of my compatriots, the best option is to do the lineart yourself.
Do it in little bits. Then, when you've completed it, you tweak every little bit, every so often, when you have time, until it's all tweaked.
Then you rinse and repeat several times, and it will be amazing.

It happens, and I keep telling people that it's how my linearts always progress.

I'm looking for something with good stopping power, as my defense tactic for the military is to turn the country into a giant bowl of sniper filled valleys. Would the SG 550 be a good choice?

Nope. You're better off just sticking to/modernizing the FAL (insofar as the FAL can be modernized) and supplementing it with above-average numbers of .338 Lapua Magnum or .408 CheyTac sniper rifles. (I'd suggest the DSR-1 for the former round, the second will require some looking.)

The closest thing to a modern FAL really is the Kel-Tec RFB, which is a bullpup weapon. Being single-fire only, it's more akin to the L1A1 variant of the FAL, but the reduced profile from becoming a bullpup wouldn't serve much purpose except for perhaps a slight ease of stowage, with your plans for long-range engagement making the CQC size-related bonuses redundant.

I should make more 'conventional' layout weapons, almost all of my rifle-type weapons are bullpup.

Made an RIS handguard for my AR-3, at long last.
It was supposed to look like this, but I got lazy and did this instead.

It's for mounting underbarrel shotguns and grenade launchers. The foregrip is supposed to become a pistol grip for said underbarrels in this configuration.

Probably not, unless there were some metric 30 rounders designed. You could probably make a 30 round mag for it if you wanted, though.

America actually makes a large portion of the world's FALs nowadays, after Brazil and Argentina, iirc.

Although I'd always thought that DSA had given up on producing locally made FN magazines after they stopped listing 20 and 25-round magazines on their website.
