Nope. You're better off just sticking to/modernizing the FAL (insofar as the FAL can be modernized) and supplementing it with above-average numbers of .338 Lapua Magnum or .405 CheyTac sniper rifles. (I'd suggest the DSR-1 for the former round, the second will require some looking.)

What's your point? My support weapon is in .405 Winchester... (That's a difference of ~2000 joules, and the .408 CheyTac is another 5000 above the .338.)

I'm looking for something with good stopping power, as my defense tactic for the military is to turn the country into a giant bowl of sniper filled valleys. Would the SG 550 be a good choice?

In that case, the Kel-Tec RFB might be a good choice for your army. It uses the same ammunition and magazines, but it's lighter (for a given barrel length) and much more compact. The now defunct "Sporter" version, will give the the same overall length as most other bullpups, but you'll get a 24 inch barrel instead of the usual 20 inch one.

That said, the SG 550 chambered in something like the 6.5mm MPC or Tony William's 6.5mm GPC.
