I'd say I'm a competent RPer, but my stories invariably scale down from entire armies to a single squad. I don't even know how or why, I just seem to prefer to focus on the individual than the full battle.

I know, but I can understand why Europeans, who have fought harder and longer than you Americans ever have, get annoyed at the suggestion that they cannot fight. Look at how the Poles did against the Germans, or how well the Fins did against the Russians, or how well the French actually fought, rather than what the stereotype says happened. After all, the stereotype says that the Americans were the sole reason why WW2 was a win for the allies.
