Reposting from other thread:
STR6-5 Bullpup Carbine, 6.5x46mm Hodoran

To do list:
- Fix optic reticule
- Fix grip
- Fix bayonet lugs
- Fix bayonet

A few things I want to know:
Did I draw the ejection port correctly?
Did I draw the sling points correctly?
Did I draw the magazine correctly?
How viable is the bayonet mounting?

SA-AR-1 Mod 2 family's SMG and Carbine variants fixed.

Carbine SuperShort with 'MkIII' (IC'ly) SA80-alike stock, 7.62mm receiver

Carbine SuperShort with 'MkIV' EM2-alike stock, 7.62mm receiver

Carbine UltraShort with 'MkIII' stock, 9mm receiver - Battle Rifle-standard flash hider removed, barrel threads exposed
Image
Carbine UltraShort with 'MkIV' stock, 9mm receiver - Battle Rifle-standard flash hider removed, barrel threads exposed

The Mark 3 and 4 stocks are, IC'ly, designed for the CSS and CUS Carbine platforms. Since the 9mm Parabellum round has a very low pressure compared to 7.62 NATO, the 9mm and 7.62mm barrels have the same external dimensions, the 9mm just has different bore and chamber. It also has no gas tap, being a blowback operation. This way, the same receiver can take two different barrels without modification, though the side effect is that the 9mm barrel is heavier than it could be made.

I'm considering an alternate receiver, similar to interchangeable upper receivers on the AR-15 platform, so that this can mount a .50 and/or .338 barrel. The .338 would be similar to the 7.62mm, in that it's effectively a necked-down version of the larger bore barrel (though the .338 barrel would be a necked-down .50 barrel while the 9mm is actually a necked-up 7.62mm).
This would turn the SA-AR-1 Mod 2 DMR (SA-SR-3) into the SA-SR-5 (SA-AR-1 Mod 2 SRS), interchangeable between .338 and .50 rounds (Lapua and BMG respectively). Note, this would make it an entirely separate weapon system, as only the (modified) trigger group and top panel would remain - new barrel receiver module and stock/action modules would be needed.

Still to do:
  • Work on alternate charging system for DMR and SAW variants
  • Create Casket mag for the SAW in new scale
  • Experiment moar with camo patterns
  • Fine detailing (sights, fire selectors)
  • Parts sheet detailing interchangeable receivers, stock/action modules, gas blocks and systems

While you can get an explosive warhead onto a 7.62mm round, it's not going to achieve a significant increase in damage at any rate.
Plus, it's just expensive for minimal gain.

Doesn't look like it can mount a proper bayonet but that's not really important.

Oh yes it is. The bayonet is a key took of warfare.

Nope. I'm one of the staunchest pro-bayonet people here, actually. Hell, I played FanT specifically so I could justify using legitimate swords even though I was mostly MT. And now I'm focusing on PT so I can have more slashy and stabby bits. Plus, my FT was all-melee.

Speaking of bayonets, do any MT nations here use anything similar to the Lord Elcho bayonet? It looks perfectly suited to NS warfare.

It's too hacky for a bayonet, IMO. It's built more like a utility tool than a weapon.

If anyone on NS is purposely using bayonets designed to be utility tools instead of weapons I declare war on them. All of Tetrakon does because I'm unilaterally declaring myself Warmaster of Tetrakon.

That's pretty much why I think that it would work well. Most of the time bayonets are used as tools, which the Elcho does very well at, but it's still capable of being used as a bayonet (it was described as being adequate).
