I need to get my Saiga out to the range. Had it over a year, haven't shot it. :(

I keep meaning to get the parts, and find someone, to modify mine with a pistol grip, instead of gripping it by the stock, ala the one you linked. I also need t get a drum mag....sweet, sweet 12 gauge drum.

Atlantic Firearms sells converted SAIGAs for around $1,100. Doing the conversion yourself costs maybe $150 (at least on the SAIGAs firing rifle rounds; since the shotguns use SAIGA mags, I doubt you need the bullet ramp, so that's one less part to get).

There's plenty of places that can show you how to do it. To my understanding, it's a relatively simple process.

Why do you think I condone spending $800 on an Arsenal AK over spending $600-650 on a do-it-yourself conversion? I don't trust myself either, regardless of its difficulty level. When it comes to my firearms, I want zero errors present. However, if you do undertake it yourself, if you plan on buying more than one SAIGA, you basically get to get three converted rifles (done yourself) for the price of two "made" at Arsenal.

Indeed. My intention is to buy the parts, and have one of the guys up at the shop handle the conversion for me.

If there's one thing I know how o do, and do well, its throw money at a problem. :P

Well, strictly speaking, SA is just the company name applied to all small arms.
Should things like SAMs and ATGMs be produced by a small arms manufacturer, or an armoured vehicle manufacturer?

So, for any type of rifle, it's just AR.

CP - combat pistol
CS - combat shotgun
AR - assault rifle (applies to battle rifles)
MAAS - modular accessory assault system (underslung modules, also includes standalones like grenade launchers)
SAW - squad automatic weapon (any kind of machine gun, except autocannon and HMG)
SR - sniper rifle (applies to DMR)
CSW - crew-served support weapon (anything that requires more than two people to operate, including AMRs and ATGM/SAM)

Also, interesting historical titbit, Ernst Rohm was a "voracious homosexual", as were a fair number of the SA/SS upper echelons about the time of Kolibri.

I don't think it matters. As long as the company actually makes them well, it shouldn't matter who is doing it.

Kouralia designates them as whatever I think is cool, but generally MP for SMGs and R/AR/BR for rifles.

Also, interesting historical titbit, Ernst Rohm was a "voracious homosexual", as were a fair number of the SA/SS upper echelons about the time of Kolibri.

Well, he did. Hummingbird (Kolibri) was largely to remove the SA because of how excessively violent and uncontrollable they'd become, but also served as excellent pretext to remove the homosexual and other 'undesirable' commanders within both the Brown and Black Shirts.
Although, one of Hitler's highest commanders (it may well have been Goring) was of Jewish descent, and Hitler forced his mother to sign an affidavit stating she was not Jewish (or that Goring was not her child, I don't recall which), in order for Hitler to retain him, on the basis he was chief of the air force.

Rohm was removed as part of the Night Weekend of the Long Knives. It was because of the continuing arguments about the Army and SA which he was removed. Hitler had to choose between the SA and Army, and he chose to cull the SA and other people he didn't like (like Schleicher).

For Triplicate's stuff, I give everything a T prefix and then add an acronym for whatever specific kind of weapon it is, followed by some number that a multiple of 12 because the UIF's numeric system works in the much more sensible base 12 instead of your silly base 10 (we can divide be 3 without breaking the universe!). Originally I was going to make that number indicate the year the weapon was introduced but given Triplicate's existence has spanned two centuries, combined with the fact that not all of the UIF measures the year according to Earth's calendar, that could get difficult.

If it's a variant of another weapon then there's an upper-case letter after the number to differentiate. An assault rifle variant with an integrated UGL will have a G; a carbine will have a C, and so on. Finally, if a design is modified or updated then a lower case letter will also be added to denote which iteration of the weapon this is, sort of like saying "Mk II" or something along those lines.

So the result is that you have guns like the TMP-144a Machine Pistol, which is an update on the design of the original TMP-144 because I added more rails. Similarly, the TBR-288C (bottom) is the carbine variant of the TBR-288 Battle Rifle (top). If I ever update the design then that new version would become the TBR-288a and TBR-288aC. At some point I'm going to have problems though when I make the DMR variant of the THR-432 Heavy Rifle. I'm not sure whether it should be the "TSR-432" or the "THR-432S"

I know no one really cares, but since we're on the subject...

I'm not really overly complicated when it comes to naming my small arms, though Trans has a thing where everything has to be named for what it is, as opposed to a simple "model" designation (Which means I actually need to hand wave or change my M-12 rifle)

However, when it comes to vehicles, this shit gets stupid. I'm using the Advancement and Enhancement system, like in WW2. Good examples, my nations primary fighter aircraft is up to F-41A1E1, the A1 being a change from a PESA to an AESA radar, new engines for moar trust and 3D TVC. The E1 was simply swapping out from fly-by-wire to fly-by-optics, and several other electronics upgrades.

Worse, if the weapon or vehicle does something special, that has to be denoted in the name. Example. if a plane has a twin seat variant, its got a T at the end, so, for example, I-4T. Our current production strike fighter is the F/A-67A1, but because the newest version has a second seat version, its the F/A-67A1T.

Theres shit with parentheses denoting things, dashes denoting things, its retarded.

ALCM-44DE1(C) (Air launched cruise missile, model 44, equipped with a Dispenser, carrying (C)luster munitions, Enhancement 1.

Its retardedly complex, I love it.

I use the hilariously complex 'Mod' designation for variations of a single system. In fact, with the HAV-2 battle tank, the Mod number goes backwards because of the introduction of the HAV-2-X.
