Thank you for your time, in advance.

Hmm...What exactly are you replacing, and what are you looking for?

An StG-44 knock off with a marginally better (read: the mosin round) in it.

Preferably something in a traditional layout with a decent stopping power, easily usable, reliable and I don't have to replace every time a grain of sand gets into the assembly.

Well that excludes all my weapons. Mostly for the usable part.

Bullpups are generally used by school crossing guards in the Grendels.

Er...you know that the StG-44 fired an extremely shorter version of the 7.92 round, scaling back up to the 7.2x54R round would present problems.

Doesn't matter now, since you're gonna replace it.

H&K 416?

M4 style rifle with H&K reliability, can be realistically chambered in 5.56, 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel. Also, the Hk417 could be chambered in .308, which, with adjustment, could fire that Mosin round you're using now.

Also in .308 come the older G-3 and FN FAL, excellent battle rifles, if not a bit old. I'm fairly sure neither one of those are maintenance hogs.

it doesn't get much easier than the AK series, the AK-12 (5.45x39) comes in synthetic black and actually has rails :o

AK-10...something is chambered in 7.62x39 if you want an AK in a larger round....they also have attachments for rails and lost the wood back in the 1990's

Oh, oh, jumping back again, AR-10! For the win! Specifically the 1995 and forward version discussed in the article

"Based on" would've been perhaps a better choice of words but yes I'm aware of the Kurz round.

I'll look into each of these; thanks.

On the AR-10, I've heard that it has a tendency to jamb under repeated firing. However I have also heard that this problem can be over come with some simple changes to the gas-spring what you macall it. (sorry can't remember name of piece just remember that the person said the problem was fixable)

I have no practical experience with one, you may be right. I wonder if the new run models worked that out, since it resumed civilian and LEO production in '95.

I've always liked your works, this is no exception. It follows the (imho) lovely aesthetics of a traditional bullpup, with the sleek look of the future. Looking into this picture, how is your ammo stored? It looks like it might be telescoped like the G11's rounds, but considering you have an ejection port, I doubt they are caseless.

Out of curiosity, why is the second knife so lolhueg at one end?

Now something new to make my 500th post something special. Bam. Since we needed a Gyrojet Sniper Rifle so badly. Shown without preferred optics, with wooden furniture. The weapon is issued in such limited quantities to my armed forces, they can afford to have wood furniture.*
Five round box magazine, with a grip built into either side (to allow not awkward mag removal).

EDIT: Some additional info, bolt action was chosen because the way the prototype gyrojets 'ignited' their ammo was, imho, really dumb.
...which rotates back and hits the nose of a rocket, pushing it toward the stationary firing pin. Primer in the base of a rocket ignites the rocket charge, and sends the projectile accelerating down the "barrel" tube. This movement cocks the hammer and also frees the space for next rocket to rise from magazine into firing position.
Source

In addition, since the aforementioned is dumb, there is not enough initial energy (like from a standard cartridge) to use gas to have a semi-automatic variant. Hence, bolt-action.

firs off: :o  Thanks very much this is my crowning achievement as of yet
second: I was a little worried about the stock I've seen some bullpups with collapsing stocks get some not-so-great comments
third: yes telescoping rounds make it look more futuristic
fourth: It's a fighting knife and is inspired by Lyras' Lycos machete which has a similar sort of bulge and well if imitation is the most sincere form of flattery

also the reason I wrote "lol" for the url is at the front of the gun near the barrel :p

In Halo that tube's a flashlight.

If it were up to me, it would be a metalstorm grenade launcher.

Well, three things you could do would be to adjust the gas plug (reducing the aperture through which gas can flow will increase the pressure on the bolt group, but reduce the particulate that makes its way into the system, use a longer barrel with a gas port further along the barrel to ensure the propellant has burnt properly (again, reducing the particulate), or use a faster-burning propellant.

I think. But I don't think the first one applies to the AR-10.

You're getting better!

The sights are too low to use comfortably, and it could use a bit of cleaning up in a few places. Also, the rails are not the right shape to be picatinny rails, but I can't imagine some far-off FT nation using them, so...

Raise the sights for their profile to be about an inch clear of the top of the receiver, move the magazine and action an inch or two forwards (so that the rear of the magazine is 12-15cm from the rear of the receiver - unless you're using a non-conventional action) and make your rails taller. Each 'brick' wants to be about 5mm tall and 7mm wide. The bricks on the side rails want to be about 20mm tall and 7mm wide.

I'd also recommend looking at some references for the flash hider. Aside from that, it's a very nice looking rifle.
