We don't have any elections for offices right now, but the initiative to split up the Ministry of the Economy is leading "yea" 57%-43%.

The composition of the Popular Legislature almost directly reflects the last election polls, and is represented by 35% Socialist Republican, 21% Prosperity, 11% Novelty, 10% Frenequesta Pride, and 27% other or unaffliated.

With a districte parliament and senate, exact percentages mean very little.

Parliament (projected)
Christian Democrats 142 seats
Socialists 49 seats
Liberals 41 seats

senate (projected)
Christian Democrats 33 seats
Socialists 19 seats
Liberals 7 seats

Technically our "Novelty" party is an anarcho-syndicalist party. They want to at least cut the powers of the central state if they can't convince the people to just abolish it by initiative. They do, however, tend to side with the more statist Socialist Republicans on a good number of things. It's called politics.

The Social Democratic Party is once again dominating the House of Representatives and the current President is the leader of the Social Democratic Party, after spending 25 years out of office and in the Opposition in the House.

The current polls show that the public is very happy with President Aragon Brisingr's work so far, showing an approval rating of 69%.

In the last parliamentary elections, the Social Democratic Party won 2100 out of 3000 seats, and 77% of the votes in the presidential elections.

no polls

Postby Beach Pirates » Fri Jun 03, 2011 11:58 am

We don't have polls in our country, or political parties.

We have Centuries (10 groups of 99 randomly selected citizens each) Each Century nominates on candidate. There is only 40 days between nomination and election, and with all the candidates being average joes not perfessional politicans, it doesnt leave much time for polls to be relavent.

3 of the ten candidates get elected via an instant runoff ballot using the sequential elimination method. This complicates the process of polling--who did you vote for? your second choice? third?...

Currently PM Ms. Enitram Wisbeck and the ruling Psychotic Party have a commanding lead in the polls, but her arch-rival, Evita Roturas of the Evil Party, says, ‘Our party does not care about polls, or elections either for that matter. We shall win through brute force, ruthlessness, and deception, as always.’

We have free, fair, and competitive elections, but the Union of Christian Democrats parliamentary group has a seemingly permanent majority in the House of Representatives. The National Assembly, our upper house, is non-partisan and is representative of the desires of the municipal councils.

Percentage of expected seats in the Great Council:
(Islanders') Community's Union: 29.5%
(Centrist) Community's Union: 24.3%
Eco-Country Party: 18.0%
the Progressives: 14.9%
Labour Union: 13.4%

The current Laeder of Alterrea belonged to the (I)CU (the Leader has to step down from His Party after election), but He has not real power.
The Alterrean Democracy is not competitive, but consociative: all Parties, which reach a sufficient amount of Parliamentary seats, are allowed a seat in the Government. Normally, at least 40 seats (14%) in the Grand Council are needed to be entitled to a Ministry: the Labour Union probably will lose its seat in the government (the Ministry of Labor and Employment), which will probably be awarded to the (C)CU.

We don't have any Federal elections coming up. However, we have a state election coming up for the Skundland State Parliament (State elections don't coincide with Federal ones). The Governor's seat (chosen through a Two Round system), all the seats in the Skundland State Assembly (chosen through Two Round Voting) and half the seats in the State Council (chosen through Proportional Representation). Skundland is a significant bellwether State; the city of Bismouth is a bastion of support for the National Liberal Party, while the rural and suburban areas provide strong support for the National Conservative Party. The forests up in the north have a high population of swing voters.

Skundland is normally controlled by either the Skundland Conservative Party or a coalition of the state's Social Democratic and Green Parties. The Conservatives have always won a plurality in the elections.

Current polls are:

Governor
John Burroughs (SCP) - 40%
Stephen McClemore (SSDP) - 38% - Incumbent
Ellie Gathurst (SGP) - 22%

Lieutenant Governor
Sarah Raymonds (SSDP) - 54% - Incumbent
David Duke (SCP) - 46%

Legislative Elections
Conservatives: 45%
Social Democrats: 24%
Greens: 21%

These suggest that the Social Democratic/Green coalition will lose seats, but are likely to stay in power.

The Royal Legislature has an approval rating of around 52% as of June 3, 2011. As the Royal Legislature is made up of independent individuals and not members of parties, it isn't possible to poll by party.
