Hello, before you read I'd like to direct you to the factbooks of my other nations, Abruzi and Vasileio. They all are part of the Anthropini Race and while all of them hate each other for various reasons, you cannot understand one without understanding all of them. As you will notice, Scandinvan, Automag, and Azura all play a part in each history (sans Azura with Rhods). The rest of my former nations shall one by one be revived and added to the Anthopini Race so stay tuned.

History

The ethnogenesis of the West Anthropini tribes is assumed to have occurred during the Proto Scandinvan-Abruzian Bronze Age, or at the latest during the Pre-Freek Iron Age. From southern Scandinvan, northern Abruzi, and western Vasileio, the tribes began expanding south, east and west in the 1st century BC, coming into contact with the Exo̱terikó̱n tribes of Inostrannye Zemli in modern Rhods.

Little is known about early West Anthropini history, except through their recorded interactions with the Scandinvan Empire, etymological research and archaeological finds.

In the first years of the 1st century, Proto-Scandinvan legions conducted a long campaign in Rhodsia, the area north of the Upper Krasnyĭ River and east of the Grün, in an attempt at a further major expansion of the Empire's frontiers, and a shortening of its frontier line. They subdued several West Anthropini tribes, such as the Cherusci. The tribes became familiar with Proto-Scandinvan tactics of warfare while maintaining their tribal identity when the final Proto-Scandinvan Expedition was accompanied by a cohort of Abruzian-Anthropini Warriors. These warriors were gradually enticed to leave their paymasters and instead join their fraternal brethren, giving the early people of Rhods the knowledge given to Abruzi by the Freeks and Scandinvans.

Modern Rhods, east of the Grun remained outside the Scandinvan Empire. By AD 100, the time of Glorreichen Sieg, West Anthropini tribes settled along the Grun and the Inostrannye Zemli, occupying most of the area of modern Rhods; the Die reichen Länder produzieren Getreide however, was a Scandinvan province. The 3rd century saw the emergence of a number of large West Anthropini tribes: Alamanni, Bauherren, Chatti, Zerstörer, and Ossis. Around 260, the West Anthropini peoples broke through the Inostrannye Zemli frontier into Scandinvan-controlled lands.

The Stem Duchies (tribal duchies) in Rhods was mainly the areas of the old West Anthropini tribes of the region. These strains were originally the Alamanni, Bauherren, Chatti, Zerstörer, and Ossis. In the 5th Century the Bauherren moved into Scandinvan territory and would have been in 443 and 458 in the area, then Lower Rhodsia. The area they had occupied in Rhods, along with the Zerstorer, was occupied by the Ossis. The Chatti which Odoacer destroyed in 487 formed a new confederation of West Anthropini in their place, the Reiche . All of these strains in Rhods were finally subdued by the growing Einheit Stem Duchy which united the West Anthropini in AD 768.

The new Dukedom of Rhods lands had a population of about 5 or 6 million. The great majority were farmers, typically in a state of serfdom under the control of nobles and monasteries. A few towns were starting to emerge. From 1000, new towns were founded around strongholds, castles, bishops' palaces and monasteries. The towns began to establish municipal rights and liberties soon thereafter. Several cities such as Kunst became Free Cities, which did not depend on princes or bishops, but were immediately subject to the Großherzog.

The towns were ruled by patricians (merchants carrying on long-distance trade). The craftsmen formed guilds, governed by strict rules, which sought to obtain control of the towns; a few were open to women. Society was divided into sharply demarcated classes: the clergy, physicians, merchants, various guilds of artisans; full citizenship was not available to paupers. Political tensions arose from issues of taxation, public spending, regulation of business, and market supervision, as well as the limits of corporate autonomy.

Kunst's central location on the Grun river placed it at the intersection of the major trade routes between east and west and was the basis of central Rhods' growth. The economic structures of medieval and early modern Kunst were characterized by the city's status as a major harbor and transport hub upon the Grun. It was the seat of the archbishops, who ruled the surrounding area and (from 1248 to 1880) built the great Kunst Cathedral, with sacred relics that made it the destination for many worshippers. By 1288 the city had secured its independence from the archbishop (who relocated to Hauptstadt).

In the early 16th century there was much discontent occasioned by abuses such as indulgences in the Scandinvan Catholic Church, and a general desire for reform.

In 1517 the Reformation began with the publication of Trotzigen Mann's 95 Theses; he had posted them in the town square, and gave copies of them to Rhodsian nobles, but it is debated whether he nailed them to the church door in Klein as is commonly said. The list detailed 95 assertions Mann believed to show corruption and misguidance within the Scandinvan Catholic Church. One often cited example, though perhaps not Mann's chief concern, is a condemnation of the selling of indulgences; another prominent point within the 95 Theses is Mann's disagreement both with the way in which the higher clergy, especially the Emperor, used and abused power.

In 1521 Mann was outlawed at the Diet of Scandinvan. But the Anthropini Reformation spread rapidly within Rhods, helped by the Großherzog Charles V's wars with the Tsardom of Abruzi. Hiding in the Wartburg Castle, Mann translated the Scandinvan Bible from Scandinvan to Anthopini Commons, establishing the basis of the Rhodsian language.

In 1524 the Rhodsian Peasants' War broke out in Swabia, Franconia and Thuringia against ruling princes and lords, following the preachings of Mann-Scandinvan Catholic Priests. But the revolts, which were assisted by war-experienced noblemen like Götz von Berlichingen and Florian Geyer , and by the theologian Thomas Münzer, were soon repressed by the territorial princes.

It is estimated that as many as 100,000 West Anthropini (Rhodsian) peasants were massacred during the revolt, usually after the battles had ended. With the protestation of the Mann princes at the Reichstag of Speyer (1529) and rejection of the "Augsburg Confession" at Augsburg (1530), a separate Mann Catholic Church emerged.

The West Anthropini Confederation was the loose association of 39 states created in 1615 to coordinate the economies of separate Anthropini Common-speaking countries. It acted as a buffer between the powerful states of Scandinvan and Abruzi. Vasileio approved of it because the Vasilias felt that there was need for a stable, peaceful power in Rhods that could discourage aggressive moves by the Scandinvans or the Tsardom of Abruzi.

After Rhods was united almost a century later by Frits von Klein into the Rhodsian Dukedom, he determined Rhodsian politics until 1890. Frits tried to foster alliances in the world, on one hand to contain Abruzi, and on the other hand to consolidate Rhod's influence in Guanxi.

On the domestic front Frits tried to stem the rise of socialism by anti-socialist laws, combined with an introduction of health care and social security. At the same time he tried to reduce the political influence of the emancipated Catholic minority in the Kulturkampf, literally "culture struggle". The Catholics only grew stronger, forming the Center (Zentrum) Party. Rhods grew rapidly in industrial and economic power, matching Vasileio by 1900. Its highly professional army was the best in the world, but the navy could never catch up with Scandinvan's Royal Navy.

In 1888, the young and ambitious Großherzog Vladimir Ossip ascended to the throne. He could not abide advice, least of all from the most experienced politician and diplomat in Rhods, so he fired Frits. The Großherzog opposed the careful foreign policy and wanted Rhods to pursue colonialist policies, as Gratslavia and Scandinvan had been doing for decades, as well as build a navy that could match the Scandinvans.

In 1914, the great Gratslavian-Abruzian war began and the Großherzog was quick to offer the military might of Rhods to the Gratslavian side. His great armies marched to war beneath the colors of the Gratslavians and won victory after victory within Abruzi. West Anthropini fought East Anthropini with a savagery and brutality that has yet to be matched. Abruzi succumbed to civil strife in 1918 and Rhods withdrew her armies soon after. Upon their return home however the mighty Army of the Duke found that in their Lord's place now sat a Supreme Soviet made up of representatives from the various worker's parties of Rhods. A short civil war raged during which the old order was almost completely purged from the lands of the West Anthropini.

Four decades of Ossetist Communism followed, with unofficial ties being established with the Abruzian State. Trade, partcicularly weapons and military technologies was very high and toward the end of Communist Rhods there was a sense of desperation in the air as notoriously anti Socialist, Monarchisten Movements captured a dozen weapon's manufactories. The nation held it's breath until 1984 when the mighty November Revolution erupted on the streets of Hauptstadt.

Entire Divisions joined the growing Monarchist Revolution and the Army of the People of Rhods (APR) was quickly overwhelmed. For a decade the disastrous nature of re-transition to Capitalism plagued Rhods' economy until the rise of the most prominent figure in Rhodsian History post Von Kelin, Duke Krieger der Mächtige. Beneath the stern and watchful gaze of Krieger the ceremonial position of Duke became an almost autocratic position. Yet even his heavy handed yet sensible programs were not enough to reverse the Rhodsian slide into bankruptcy and in 1991 the official appeal to Gratslavia was made. Requesting vassailzation was a controversial move on the Duke's part yet within ten years proved to be the wisest course of action as the economy's slide downward was halted.

Modernization occurred for another odd decade until in 2001 the West Anthropini Dukedom of Rhods reported the first economic growth for twenty years. Today the West Anthropini Dukedom stands as a near sovereign nation that is notorious for it's proud historical heritage. Relations with the other Anthropini States has yet to resume.

On June 5th the government of Rhods agreed to join in cordial annexation with the Gratislavian state, which in turn established the first Gratislavian Dukedom of Rhods.
