T-98 Leonidas MPABP

Postby Zeiffelheim » Mon May 30, 2011 9:14 pm

Zeiffelheim's MBT is currently the T-98 "Leonidas" MPABP (Multi-Purpose Armored Battle Platform). It is armed with: 1x smooth-bore 145mm ETC cannon capable of firing several types of rounds, including: Solid Tungsten slugs, Tungsten HESH shells, and Anti-infantry Shrapnel Burst Rounds (ASBRs). 2x Mk.7 .50 Caliber anti-infantry machine guns, mounted on opposite sides of the main turret and capable of rotating 360 degrees. 2x Type-19 Spearmaster missile launchers housed alongside the main cannon inside the top of the turret, armed with anti-aircraft, anti-personnel, and anti-armor warheads. 2x Type-84 Trebuchet heavy missile launchers mounted inside the main body of the tank, designed to act as artillery support for units in combat, and to destroy heavily fortified enemy installations. The T-98 is protected by 4.5" reactive Durasteel armor, and a Karlin EKFSN (Explosive Kinetic Force and Shrapnel Net) Point Defense System capable of detecting any incoming projectile with a mass of at least 3 kg, and defeating any incoming projectile with a velocity of up to 1200 m/s. The engine driving the T-98 is highly classified (The T-98's power system is its one drawback, as the T-98 requires a tremendous amount of fuel, and they are prone to engine overheat in the middle of combat when the tank is being heavily taxed. The tank itself utilizes a quad-tred system (with four sets of treds, two of equal length along each side) The T-98 is manned by a crew of 4, including a Commander, a Pilot, a Gunner, and a Systems Engineer. The crew positions are found in the rear half of the vehicle (the forward half being devoted to the engine and Trebuchet missiles). The pilot is seated on the left, just fore of the turret, the commander is seated to his immediate right. The Gunner is seated just beneath the main cannon, within the turret itself, and the systems engineer is seat to the rear, below the gunner (his station is bisected by the rearmost portion of the turret. There is an escape hatch to the left and above of the pilot, one to the right and above of the commander, and one to the immediate rear of the systems engineer (the gunner uses the systems engineer's escape hatch.) The gunner has control of the main cannon and the turret's swivel (the .50 cal machine guns rotate independent of the main turret). All other positions have full access to the other weapons (save the Trebuchet missiles, which can only be controlled by the commander or gunner). The pilot has full control of the tanks movements, but the commander has an override control, in the event that the pilot should be unable to continue functioning.

Potential upgrades to the T-98 include: A Mark 2 Railgun, to replace the main cannon. A Korchevski Fusion generator to replace the current engine and power system. A 2" upgrade to the exterior armor. and A Moradin-HESG (High Energy Shield Generator) to compliment the Karlin point defense system.

Currently under development is the XT-100 "Sabre", which may potentially replace the T-98 "Leonidas" as Zeiffelheim's MBT in the near future.

The T-98 replaced the Hadrian line of tanks, which included the T-32 LBT, T-34 MBT, and T-36 HBT.

Black Ops

Postby Zeiffelheim » Mon Jun 06, 2011 7:51 pm

what Special Forces groups does your nation have to defend your Nation's people and its borders in times of need?
Field operatives of the Department of Military Intelligence act as Zeiffelheim's intelligence gatherers. They operate only on foreign soil and are, essentially, spies. This is what the DMI specializes in ,while the DNI (Department of Naval Intelligence) focuses on alternative means of intelligence gathering (i.e. cyberwarfare, satellite imaging, etc.). The Special Operatives of the DMI are cloaked in mystery, but it is known that they often recieve advanced expert training in a variety of skills. Their job extends beyond simple intelligence gathering, and often into sensitive situation which require the use of individuals, where even a five man team would be too noticeable. This can range anywhere from assassinations to acquirement of specific individuals (kidnapping). They are almost always supported by analystists within DMI command, though the most elite operatives are trained to operate with total independence. They often recieve recruits from throughout the private sector, as well as the various branches of the Zeiffelheimian Military (including Special Forces units).

The Army of the Republic has its own Special Forces branch. Known as the Blue Berets and officially called the Army Elite Special Operations Force, they are the best the Army has to offer. They draw recruits from both the Infantry and the Airborne Infantry. Once selected to join the AESOF recruits must undergo three months of intensive training, designed to train already outstanding and experienced soldiers into the best of the best. Upon completing the first three months of special training, recruits must attend and graduate OCS (Zeiffelheim's OCS is the Army of the Republic Military Academy, just outside the city of New Etna), following graduation from OCS recruits return for the final three months of special training. Every member of AESOF is at least a 2nd Lieutenant. The mission of AESOF is almost exclusively combat oriented. Their job is to spearhead assaults that Command believes will result in high casualties. Because of their training they are much less likely to suffer severe casualties, or become bogged down, than any regular Army unit. Because of this, casualties within the Blue Berets are high, the average atrition rate for an AESOF unit is approximately 55%. Their dress uniform consists of their namesake Blue Beret, as well as the standard AoR dress blacks. Due to the fact that every member of AESOF is technically an officer in the regular Army, AESOF employs its own rank system to simplify unit organization. The enlisted ranks are replaced by the AESOF rank of "Trooper", either third, second, or first class. This rank is to the rank of third, second, or first lieutenant. The NCO ranks are replaced with the AESOF rank of "Section Leader" (commonly referred to as "S-L"s or simply "Sergeant"s). This billet is equivalent to the regular Army rank of Captain. The officer ranks are replaced with "Captain" (platoon leader), "Commander" (Company), both of which are still technically Captains in the regular Army. For commanders on the battalion or regimental level, they hold their regular Army ranks (thus, an AESOF "Captain" is technically equal in rank to an AESOF "Commander" by the regular army ranking system [they are both Captains], and they both receive equal amounts of privilege and respect due a Captain of the Army, though in combat [or technically anywhere else] the "Captain" will always defer to the "Commander". The same is true for "Section Leader"s, they will always defer to a higher ranking AESOF member.)

The Navy of the Republic likewise has its own Special Forces branch, the NSWD, or Naval Special Warfare Division (unofficially, they are known as the "commandos"). They draw recruits largely from the Marine Corps, but also from the regular Navy. Once selected to join NSWD, recruits must attend Army Basic Infantry Specialization Training, following which they must attend OCS at the ARMA. Following graduation from the OCS, recruits must attend the same three month secondary special training as the men of AESOF. After completing that training they must attend Naval Warfare Special Training, where they acquire skills such as diving, amphibious insertion and extraction, etc. The main job of the NSWD is to carryout raids on enemy installations. The objective of these raids is not to take and hold ground, but instead to destroy enemy personnel, materiel, and structures. In addition to raid operations, the NSWD is also responsible for unconventional means of warfare. This centers around the supply and training of guerrilla forces whom Zeiffelheim supports, either openly or discreetly. The NSWD is much smaller than AESOF, and their attrition rate is likewise much lower, rounding off at about 20%. Their dress uniform consists of the standard dress uniform (either Navy or Marines) with a deep blue shoulder sash and the crossed-anchor NSWD pin. While like AESOF all members of NSWD are officers in their respective branch, unlike AESOF, they do not implement their own ranking system. The Blue Berets only do so because they operate in large units (up to and including regimental size). NSWD only functions in small teams, usually very close-knit, and only reorganized in the event of casualties. Thus there is little chance of confusion with the chain of command, even if a team consists wholly of Captains and First Lieutenants.

There is a third Zeiffelheimian Special Forces unit, the Field Reconnaissance Force, or "Ghosts" as they are appropriately known. The FRF takes recruits from all branches of the Zieffelheimian Military. Another unique aspect of the FRF is that unlike AESOF or NSWD, the Ghosts do not require all of their members to be officers. The only stipulation for being a member of FRF is to have seen active combat. Training for FRF recruits begins with a five-month elite infantry training course. Following the initial training recruits must take the two month stealth operations training, and then graduate the SEER course (Survive Escape Evade Resist). The primary mission of the FRF is self-evident, reconnaissance. Their job is to infiltrate enemy territory and see what their is to be seen. They are also often involved in sabotage, kidnapping, or assassination missions. Still, while they excel at those mission types their main job is nothing more than to be invisible, to see and not be seen. The Ghosts often consider it a failed mission if they return with fewer rounds of ammunition then they had when they left. The FRF is the smallest of the Zeiffelheimian Special Forces units, and arguably the most elite. Their attrition rate is very low, approximately <1%. The FRF dress uniform is non-existent. Ghosts simply wear small pins (a skull with a crossed arrow, pointed down, in the background) on their collar-points (for enlisted men) or their left breast (for officers).

(AoR dress uniform: Black Jacket and Trousers. Infantry have a red leg stripe, Artillery have a blue leg stripe, Armor have a white leg stripe, and Airborne have a gold leg stripe. All enlisted personnel have black epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels; NCOs have red epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels; Junior officers have white epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels; and Senior officers have blue epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels.

NoR dress uniform: Blue Jacket and Trousers. Enlisted personnel have no specific insignia, NCOs have red leg stripes, epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels, Junior officers have white leg stripes, epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels, and Senior officers have gold leg stripes, epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels.

RMC dress uniform: Red Jacket. Enlisted personnel have blue trousers, Corporals have blue trousers with red leg stripes. NCOs have white trousers with red leg stripes, Junior officers have white trousers with blue leg stripes, Senior officers have white trousers with gold leg stripes. All ranks have gold epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels.

RAF dress uniform: White Jacket and Trousers. Enlisted personnel have black leg stripes, epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels; officers have blue leg stripes, epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels; and senior officers have gold leg stripes, epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels.

Sentinels dress uniform: Gray Jacket and Trousers. Enlisted personnel have black leg stripes, epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels. Officers have gold leg stripes, epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels.

Home Guard dress uniform: Green Jacket and Trousers. All enlisted personnel have black epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels. NCOs have red epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels. Junior officers have white epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels. Senior officers have blue epaulets, cuffs, and shoulder tassels.)

Republic of Zeiffelheim has one true Special Forces Branch of its military
What is their official designation?
Black Operations is their official designation, unofficially they are known as Night Watch
Do they allow men and women? If so which do they consist mainly of?
Both: 72% male 28% female
What do you use your special forces for?
Black Ops is used for a variety of mission types, mainly militarily based. They operate in small units, their job is to go places where no one else can go undetected, or even survive. They carry out raids, assassinations, hostage & POW rescues, and sabotage. On occasion they will provide support for direct combat units. Operatives are hand-picked from combat veterans from any of the branches of the Republican Military. After being selected they endure 3 months of intensive training, followed by some genetic augmentation and neural implantation (this allows small units to communicate subconsciously and currently is being field tested with three different teams). They are equipped with an upgraded and customizable version of the standard C-42 Combat Rifle, as well as any personal weapons, and also the Mk.10 Field Combat Power Armor Suit. The Mk.10 runs on a minuscule fusion battery, it enhances the operative's natural strength and speed by up to 30%. It also comes with a personal shield generator, and the armor itself can stop anything up to a conventional 20mm slug at least once.
How many are estimated to be apart of said Special Forces?
Approximately 2800, but that is including all logistics and support personnel, there are about 800 actual operatives, maximum
Who is in command of them?
General Major Leopald Briarson
When were they founded?
2132
Zeiffelheim's original Spec Ops division was known as the Blue Berets. To become a blue beret, one had to have combat experience, then attend a 3 month specialized spec ops training, as well as OCS. The Blue Berets were founded in 2013 and disbanded in 2128. Their main armament was the AK-18 carbine. The old Blue Berets made up the core of the original Night Watch, and some of them are still on active duty as training officers.
