Back in 1734, a European power went into India and colonized it. However, it was not Britain...Rather, it was France. France colonized India with the South India Company, and later (in 1784) dropped the facade of South India Company, and the French Crown took over. In 1872, a revolution occurred and India was split into various parts. One part agreed to remain in France, provided they gained more rights. The French reluctantly agreed, and this decision probably only occurred because the Emperor at the time, Emperor Francis the Fourth, was a humanist and a progressive. In 1901, Indians gained completely equal rights to the French. In 1926, the French emperor Adam Williams married an Indian woman, and their son became Emperor. This marriage solidified France and South India truly becoming a single nation.
