Discovered by early explorers as a group of uninhabited islands in 1452, many early settlers were amazed at the variable weather in New Hayesalia, with coniferous forests, deserts, rainforests, a massive mountain range. It was named Hayestolia, after its founder, Edward Hayes. The current President, Daniel Hayes, is very distantly related to Edward Hayes.For centuries Hayestolia stood as a leading civilization, outpacing the rest of the world in the arts and sciences. Following an overthrow in 1892 for a socialist government, Hayestolia was renamed Hayesalia.

After 37 years of socialism, the government was overthrown in a civil war, whose leaders instilled a more democratic government. Even to this day, New Hayesalia holds some socialist values close to it. Following the 1929 Affair, Hayesalia was divided into over a dozen colonies, the most notable being Revoma, now the mainland of the New Hayesalian Capital Province.

In 1974, the colonies joined the Hayesalian Union, a region with mutual protection. In 1982, free trade was easy between all colonies. In 1987, the Hayesalian Union Department of Scientific Research (NHDSR) was formed, now the New Hayesalian Institute of Science. In 1989-1999 dozens of amalgamations saw the forming of the New Colonies Union, the colonies being formed as the current Provincs of present New Hayesalia. (The New Hayesalian Capital Province was then the colony of Ulatama)

In 2003, the armed forces of the colonies were effectively amalgamated as the Hayesalian Union Defence Forces. The best of all forces were used to create an extremely effective force, and equipment, drill and uniform began to be standardised amongst all forces.

In late 2005, discussions began about creating a new federation began in the headquarters located in Oppentin. The flag was of particular interest, with over 50,000 designs submitted. The current was chosen due to the abundance of colour, signifying the many terrains, the sun, a New Hayesalian cultural image, and a horizontal line arrangement to indicate new horizons. The design was submitted by a seven year old girl from the colony of Achiv.

In 2009, Revnami was named capital due to its cultural heritage, and the colonial governor of Mardio, Daniel Hayes (whose Vice-President, Frank Berland, was of Frapaco), was elected in a landslide in almost all colonies. On July 21, the Island Republic of New Hayesalia was formed, the colonies were formed as the current provinces, there was an incorporation of all Union Organisations (Education, Welfare, etc.) becoming national departments, as well as the forming of the New Hayesalian Military.

On April 15, 2011, New Hayesalia Unified with Animaliston. Animaliston is now the Southernmost Province of New Hayesalia. Please see our national page for our population and add 6,788,000,000 to it to account for the sentient animal population of Animaliston.

On June 4, 2011, the Unified Island Republic of New Hayesalia dissolved. It was replaced with the Greater Island Kingdom, and headed ceremonially by the new Queen, Olivia Granville I- the previous ruler of Montmary, which became a province of New Hayesalia.

Welcome to Animaliston. Population: 6,788,000,000 animals. Yes, animals. Allow me to explain. Here in Animaliston, we pride ourselves as being a safe haven for all aimals, great and small. These are not your average beasts however. I myself am well-versed in the English language, however at any time only the President of Animaliston and some key delegates are the only ones trained in the language. We animals communicate through telepathic means, and via the sounds of barking, whinnies and meows. We honour or forefathers such as Laika, the space dog; Goldie, the evasive eagle; and Private Wotjek, the hero bear. While only animals may be citizens, and inter-special marriage is not recognised here, we are intelligent animals. We are accepting of tourists, and we are heavily supported by the Island Republic of New Hayesalia and many hundreds of animal rights groups.

You may be wondering how so many animals eat. How can we hope to buy or make produce? Well, you misunderstand our culture. We are not a religious nation, but we believe in the circle of life. When we are born, we are welcomed into this nation. When we die, it is considered the greatest honour to become the supplier of food for your fellow citizens. The herbivores eat the amazingly fertile grass and leaves, which are famed for regrowing seemingly on a daily basis, as well as the grain and crop. The carnivores eat the deceased citizens, who donate themselves. The aquatic animals, the fish, graze on the plentiful supplies of plankton. Both carnivores and fish are given weekly rations to sustain them for that week. In the event more supplies are needed, animals are given a microchip which records their funds in the form of credits. Foreigners buy credits at the equivalent rate of a New Hayesalian Quat, and are given a credit card.

And how do we include animals confined to water, you ask? Well, our many natural reefs support much life, but each of our cities have two canal systems- one for salt-water fish and one for fresh-water fish.

And your final concern: Our buildings. Well, it's not a massive factor. Many animals do not need shelter, and for those that do, they have been supplied by foreign contractors, due to our unfortunate lack of opposable thumbs. We have a regular military force, based on the equipment of the New Hayesalian Military but suited for own needs. Over the Animaliston Army, Navy and Air Force [now incorporated into the New Hayesalian Military], we are a strong and varied force.

The uniform is also universal. However, there are other uniforms of this variety. Many times the jacket and tie are not worn for preferance to the short-sleeved shirt. Shorter pants may be worn. Headgear may be substituted for police wide brimmed hats in hot locations. Cold weater gear is available.

Federal Police CT Unis are trained for hostage and terrorist situations; however larger operations usually fall to the Army's SAS or Spetzgruppa Nachal'nik.

Vehicles are given many of the police upgrades, as well as-
-improved seating and restraints that allow two medics to treat patients while wearing safety belts (introduced because medics in today's ambulances often must ride unrestrained in order to take care of the patient);

-external cameras and, inside the cab, a video monitor that help medics avoid colliding with another vehicle or other object;

-a device that changes red lights to green at appropriately equipped intersections;

-external lights alerting other motorists that medical treatment is underway on board the vehicle;

-a Road Safety "black box" on-board computer system (similar to aircraft black boxes) that records vehicle speed, monitors the driver's safety behaviors (such as use of turn signals) and warns the driver about manoeuvres that exceed pre-set safety parameters;
highly reflective paint that makes the vehicle more conspicuous;

-cabinets designed to lower the risk of injury for anyone who falls against them;

-In Motion on-board mobile network gateway and GPS tracking;

-Marvlis vehicle routing and mapping systems; and

-wireless medical reporting that saves time, ensures accuracy and protects confidentiality in identifying patients, documenting treatment, and sharing data with hospital staff.

4. People and Population

CULTURE
No matter who you are, if you visit a home you will be given the best the family has. That is a New Hayesalian treatment for every foreigner. They are a warm peoples and their unreservedness brings to the fore their passion and sentimentality. However, they do not like publicly admitting they are incorrect. But, they are very down to earth and always mindful of not giving the impression that they think they are better than anyone else. New Hayesalians value authenticity, sincerity, and loathe pretentiousness- they prefer people who are modest, humble, self- deprecating and with a sense of humour. They have a good sense of humour and use it often in all manner of situations.

They do not draw attention to their academic or other achievements and tend to distrust people who do. They often downplay their own success, which may make them appear not to be achievement-oriented. New Hayesalians are known for being friendly, outgoing and informal. However they also maintain a sense of decorum and are very polite. Hospitality is an extension of this and they like to get to know people, say hello to strangers and invite people into their homes.

6. Military

Link to NWCDS and TNRDI
The New Hayeslian Military is a mainly Air Force/Navy based military, due to it's island geography. The Army still recieves the same amount as funding as the other services however. Members of the New Hayesalian Military pride themselves on their professionalism and hold themselves up to a very high standard. In a sense, they are the perfect modern-day embodiment of the medieval Knight, chivalrous, brave, and steadfast in their beliefs. However, this should not be mistaken for softness. New Hayesalian troops are capable of carrying out their orders with chilling efficiency and are not afraid to make sacrifices for the "greater good". They are quick to adopt to any situation, and often show initiative and resourcefulness. They excel at subterfuge and camouflage, and can rapidly deploy with precision firepower- so much so that an unofficial motto is taken "high speed, low drag". New Hayesalian view non-lethal weaponry as a godsend, and they excel in electronic warfare and directed energy tactics.

Ammunition, for New Hayesalian forces, is non-existant. A high-tech oxygen based stystem, as long as oxygen is availble in the area around it, it can fire until its overheat point within the barrel, relieved via pulling the slider back, and if air is not availbale, a reserve compressed air supply can be tapped into- held in regular ammunition magazines.

- Vehicle Inertial Navigation

- 3D Mission Planner: A tool used in briefs to give a 3D image of the area and mission details about the area with high detail, using recon reports. Easily transportable.

- SALRDR "Salamander" Radar: A small aircraft detector system with capabilities to 275NM

- RBE2 Avionics: Terrain following technology, up to 500 aircraft tracking and identifying as well as ranking, high-res map forming

- Thermal Imagery Standard: Day/Night Situational Awareness, Navigation Aids, Multiple Operations (S&R, Security)

- Advanced Chaff/Flare mix, with EMP explosives which detonate and disable standard missiles

- Intelligent Radar: A small TV screen which also shows a corner image on the HUD, and gives recon and command abilities

- Recoil from weaponry is captured and used to charge batteries and such due to a series of linked generators.

-Composite helicopter blades: Helicopter rotor blades are made out of light, hardened material, and can sustain a hit from an RPG, albeit with possibly heavy damage.

- Hydrogen powered turbofan engines on helicopters

- AIRNET: Modern military vehicles wiring is often tedious work to install, difficult to maintain, expensive to replace, and fragile. Therefore, a stadard system exists to cut down on wire usage. The AIRNET cabling and command points can hold up to 20GB of data at any given moment, are made of synthesised corundum to ensure reliability, and a cheaper than the copper wire alternatives. Moreover, it gives the vehicles unparralled response time to human commands.

-TIMU: A military system which accurately estimates visual distance and times to reach that distance at speed.

-Chemical Cartography: A visual aid system which tracks atmospheric gases signature of humans and/or vehicles.

-Adhesive Grip: Selective gripping gloves and boots designed to selectively grasp surfaces to easily climb them, excellent for New Hayesalian tactics.

- Millimeter wave Active Area Denial for personnel

- High Powered Microwave Emitter. Heats water cells in human bodies to cause a burning sensation while not causing any physical harm. Used as a non-lethal system, but can be used to inflict massive damage if turned up. The lethal setting is much more fearsome and some commanders prefer not to use it as the end results are described as "horrific". A specialist version can be installed on tanks to replace supporting auxillary weapons. The results have had critics question the device and even had moves to have it banned in the WA. It is solemly used, but New Hayesalian tanks are regarded as fearsome opponents. Another variant is available as a weapon, sized as a pistol, the affectionately titled "Kettlepot".

- Specialised batteries. Often regarded as some of the most efficient in the world, a single fist sized battery kept an EyeHawk drone in the air for eight days. Their full capabilities are a closely guarded secret.

- Systematic Resetting: For tracked vehicles, more than one component, or even an entire engine, can be devoted to each track. If one is damaged, a system allows a reset amount of power for each. Instead of stopping still, a wounded tank can still limp away.

- Advanced Helicopter Gunner Sightings: Many modern attack helicopters monitor a gunners helmet. New Hayesalia takes it a step further, and monitors the gunners eyes, linking weapons the the precise location a gunner looks.

- IFF Explosives detections- Identify Friend or Foe will not allow explosives to detonate if a friendly is in range. Usually fitted to mines.

- Amphibious: Many New Hayesalian vehicles can travel across small rivers to reach a locations, such as the Ram Transport and Camel IFV.

- Rimfire: Any barrel set to fire conventional ammuntion has had grooves installed for accuracy

- Aerogel: Used as an insulator to protect items from fire. Lines Chameleon uniforms.

- Elastic Conductor Screens: Instead of regualr television screens, ECS is used as it performs to the exact standard, bur is lighter, can be rolled up, harder to damage, impossible to scratch and EMP immune.

- Non-Newtonian Fluids: A fluid which has the density of water until sufficient force is placed upon it. Thus, it is used in all armour as a layer of protection,as it is light and keeps mobility, and can be used as a very efficient body armour system.

- Transparent Aluminia: Used in place of glass, it is three times stronger than steel of the same thickness. It is used as windows on vehicles and aircraft, and the helmet on Chameleon vests.

- Carbon Nanotubes: The backbone and building blocks for New Hayesalias military, and most civil, ability. New Hayesalians are skilled at creating it, and their uses are basically unlimited.

- Uniform (Hellfire) Grenades: Act as air-fuel ignition, fragmention, stun, noise, flashband, hedgehog, adhesive and even an anti-tank variant, switching with a few clicks of a button.

- Trident Missiles: Specialised missiles which have developed to cover any explosive used in the military. It can traget anything, by equating range, needed firepower, direction, etc, all in one system. It's energy design mean the pod it is fired from is the only solid structure. The outline of the pin is shaded gold if it was received with honours or in an advanced training course. To represent further achievement, bronze oval rosettes are worn to the side of the ribbon, left then right. Five bronze ovals are replaced by a silver one. A silver one is replaced by a gold. In the unlikely case that five gold rosettes are earned, a green one overrides all.

This weapon launches high-density kinetic projectiles from space. These projectiles have no explosives inside, but are rocket-assisted for guidance. They speed towards the Earth at around 6 miles a second. When one of these "rods" impacts the surface it releases a massive amount of energy. The resulting blast is roughly the same as a very small to very large nuclear device.

Another aspect controlled by the Air Force is the SSC - Strategic Space Command. They control the SLAMS-CTVM (Sea Land Air Missile System- Communications TeleVision Meterology) Satellite System, which handles the bulk of New Hayesalias Intelligence gathering. It uses EMP and Ballistic Systems to strike a target- most likely a rocket or missile, but air sea and ground targets have been fired upon- to take them out with deadly force. The EMP strike fries electronic systems, and its Class 5 strike can make fuel, electronics, and other devices explode. The EMP is large enough to darken a carrier group or military base, including it's original target of nuclear missiles. It has varying diameters of effectiveness, and after it's largest strike is recharged from solar energy is about seven minutes, with emergency reserves on tap. The Ballistics Missile system is a fired rocket, which is guided from the satellite to the target. They contain a small amount of explosive material, however the force of a small missile hitting its target alone at such speeds is equivalent to a small nuke, minus fallout.

The kinetic kill vehicle launch platform consists of a satellite armed with 36 telephone pole sized Tungsten-Corundum rods loaded into 36 launch tubes mounted on the satellite . The satellite employs high efficiency photo-voltaic panels or "wings" to generate electricity directly from sunlight. The satellites are then placed in orbit and must be reloaded after each use- as constantly done, or de-orbited and a replacement launched. The current New Hayesalian system consists of an unknown number of such satellites, though the number is assumed to be more than one.

It is programmed to detect and intercept greater than 99 percent of nuclear missile launches. New Hayesalia tested it by launching dummy nuclear salvos at itself. The SLAMS successfully intercepted every missile.

Their civilian aspect makes them excellent recon birds, as their camera is strong enough to read the name tag of a person or a car badge in a low-lying area.

Another development is the inclusion of the "Laser". Not so much a laser, but the system is classified. However, foreign scientists have inferred the system is a high powered chemical laser.




PROTECTION

Despite the SLAMS chemical laser having the capability to intercept hostile objects, New Hayesalia has developed small drones armed with the same technology to defend the SLAMS. Four are attached to a satellite at any given time and can be detached when hostile objects are detected. They are charged by the SLAMS itself, and they have a direct ability to "leach" onto the hostile object, and use powerful propulsion systems to steer it away, or into the beam of the chemical laser.

They also have their own, smaller laser attachment to melt away sections of the objcet. The guidance system of a rocket, the camera of a satellite, or the warhead of a nuclear device. They are controlled by officers at SLAMS Command when the demand is made for them to be used.

The Morlon Mortar, named after its' designer, Jackson H. Morlon, is a two-man mortar system firing variable Oxygun explosive shells over 1.6km at a rate of one round every six seconds. The crews have an accuracy rate of over 91% on stationary targets the size of crouching personnel, and 96% for vehicles such as tanks or APCs. The weapon is feared mainly by vehicle crews for its lingering EMP affects, which can damage electronics and such in targets 50 metres from point of detonation.

The Hades Missile Launcher is a new addtion to the New Hayesalian Military. The system fires the same rounds as the SLAMS system, but at a more limited range of ~250km. The explosives yield the equivalent of a 5 kiloton yield. The much heavier version fires twice the amount of rockets over 350km with a yield equivalent to 8kt, and this model is called the Slammer. Both are heavily armed and can hold weapons systems similar to the Thor platform, and a Boxer-style system is in place for personal protection. The fearsome and tough nature of these vehicles have earned them the distinction of the "Brick House".

New Hayesalian Commandos- Grey-Blue Beret
The New Hayesalian Commandos includes members that come from many elite special operations groups. This variety is considered an advantage by NH commanders. Commando units are encouraged to stick with the tactics and doctrines of their original units rather than conform to one universal rule set. This means one group of Commandos may behave and function in a manner that is radically different from another. New Hayesalian commanders feel that this will help keep their enemies off balance and allow for more specialized deployments. All Commando battalions excel in urban and counter-terror operations.

Spetzgruppa Nachal'nik- Forest Green Beret
Sometimes just being a soldier in the NHA isn't enough. When a typical SAS Trooper or Commando wants to go one step further, he or she becomes Spetzgruppa. Just like the SAS, the SN come from every branch of the New Hayesalian Military as well as numerous intelligence agencies and private organizations. The SN can quickly and effectively deploy an array of advanced weaponry and other devices that may give their nation a valuable edge in battle.

Soldiers come from every branch of the New Hayesalian Military to join the ranks of the SAS. Walk into any SAS barracks and you'll see men and women from NSOG, Commandos, Parachute Regiment, and even Combat Engineer teams. This means that many fresh SAS recruits have already undergone extensive training before they even put on the SAS uniform. The purpose of SAS training is to unite all the different doctrines from other special operations unit into one, unified doctrine. Born in Arrianetica, Piltomana. Attended the New Hayesalian Union Defence Force Academy (NHUDFA), in 1996-99 and graduated with a Dux and excellent tactical knowledge. She joined the NHU Air Force in 2000 and after completing training was assigned to the Northern Command Group as 2IC. Transferred in 2004 to Spetzgruppa Nachal'nik as a tactical officer. She was married in 2001, but divorced in 2004. At SN her ability to command major operations effectively and quickly resulted in the nickname "Grey Ninja".

As a commander for the New Hayesalian Military, Jordan Scotts commands the structure of the New Hayesalian Military. She commanded the actions of New Hayesalia's assistance in the Zellatian Civil War, Israelite Conflict, the Missourian Rebels War, the ARDC-NH Conflict, and takes an active role in all military activities.

Born in the naval town of Statca in the old colony of Frapaco, Fisher joined the Frapaco Naval School in 1974, graduating early in 1976. He was first sent on a destroyer, the FNS Hallmark as a young officer. He was eventually reassigned to the armoury officer on the aircraft carrier FNS Finn. He was injured severely when a Mirage 2000 exploded, breaking his legs and collarbone, and maiming his left ring finger beyond repair. It was amputated at sea.

Reassigned to Naval Command as a higher ranking officer in the 2009 Amalgamation, he was selected as Chief of Navy amid controversy of violence on the Finn, but this was disproven. He was married in 1982 and has three adult children.

Originally a Revoman conscript, Knight was drafted at age 20. He went and joined as a professional soldier, and was promoted to Major within six years. His outstanding work in commanding mechanised and infantry battalions while he himself was under fire saw him be promoted to Colonel before he was 30. Known for his ingenious tactics, like using a civilian corpse as a major "officer" with fake intelligence, he found himself promoted to Army Chief in the 2009 Amalgamation.

He has a wife, Ann, and one son, a Captain in the Parachute Regiment.

Well known for not speaking to anyone not directly related to his operations, and his signature black beret and balaclava, X never wears any identifying markings apart from a Presidential Letter of Recognition. It is believed he took command of SN in 2009. His rank is also of question; as Nachal'nik members are permitted to wear any markings they wish, provided they don't exploit it. It is believed he holds a rank of General, but he maintains that his true rank is Brigadier.

In 1990 The Hayesalian Union assigned him as part of their focus on the growing threat of terrorist action and cyberwarfare. He speaks English, Russian, German and Italian fluently, as well as his native Spanish, and can make himself understood in most other European languages. In 2010 with the development of SLAMS and 2011 with G-SAMS, Tonks is directly responsible for a large portion of New Hayesalia's nuclear defence.

Hynes' passion and understanding for languages has held him in good stead within the NHM. He is married with six adult children.

Lieutenant Brigadier Sebastian Bell

Bell is well aware of New Hayesalian Military life. Following six years as a Retalimoran Army Cadet, he joined as a tank commander at age 22. Ten years later, he was assigned command of the 6^th Tank Division. His first overseas deployment saw him commanding T-90 tanks in wargames in 1995. He was credited with a kill-to-death ratio of 13:1. During the 2009 Amalgamation, Bell was instrumental in the development of the Mammoth and Ogre tanks, as well as the Camel IFV. As of 2011, direct command of Mechanised Corps (ie, Transport Corps) is Bell's.

Field Marshal Derrick Mitchell

A vivid reader of war novels and a chess champion, Mitchell was well placed to become a tactician. His first role out of the Ashanan Army Educational Centre was assisting in coordinating military operations of the Ashanan Special Forces. He was held hostage by Islam extremists however, when the Marbag Special Forces base was captured and thirteen people were slaughtered. Then-Major Mitchell used a mirror to help Hayesalian Union Forces figure out what was going on in the building. In the ensuing firefight, Mitchell used an extremist AK-47 to kill three of the enemy. For these actions, he was awarded an Ashanan Commendation for Excellence.

He was later promoted to Colonel commading the 10^th Spetzgruppa in the 2009 Amalgamation, and was recently promoted to Commander of Ground Corps, which includes all infantry. He is married to Colonel Kara Yort, the intelligence officer of the Special Forces during the Marbag Base Siege. He had an adult child, now deceased (killed serving in Missourian Rebels).

Nicolas was born in the tiny township of Zhaboodoo, Retalimora to an Explosive Ordanance Disposal private. His mother died at birth. Growing up, he was obsessed with fireworks and pyrotechnics, partly from his fathers stories of EOD work. It also inspired him to join as a Private to the Retalimoran Armed Forces, but as a combat engineer. He was eventually promoted to Corporal and became an armoury supervisor and did demonstrations of the M72 LAW, a small rocket launcher.

In 2009, he was selected from 50 Warrant Officers to become Chairman of the Enlisted Reference Group, an oversight group who manage the wellbeing and operation of the enlisted and NCO's. He has been married twice, and has six children.

An obsessive military tactician, Nuttal is often the back seat driver to New Hayesalian military activities. He is a veteran member of the SAS, where he earned his comission. He is not well-known, except to the people under his command. Ask an infantryman who he is, and they'll tell you in detail. Ask a tank ommander, and you'll likely recieve the simple word- "who?". He is not married, and it is only known he has a sister.

Leah Rowley was born in the Quepasan coastal town of Port Jugas. She was exposed to heavy trade, and spent three years as a worker at the port. She was conscripted into the Quepasan Army before the amalgamation, but the conscription ended six months after it's conception. She found that working as a logistics "guru" was in her blood, and she rejoined as an officer. However, she was posted to the Quepasan Navy as a logistics officer. She later became the Quepasan liason officer at the Hayesalian Union's military command. Her knowledge of the country had her promoted to Logistics Commander.
