Greek Fire in your nation.

Postby Khazyan » Fri May 27, 2011 8:35 pm

Khazyan used Greek Fire until the year 1709, when it was temporarily replaced with natural oil found beneath the northern province. After finding this less effective, they would have returned to Greek Fire in the year 1801 had the formula not been lost. Khazyan did not use incendiary chemicals again until the invention of Napalm.

Was Greek Fire ever used in your nation? If so, how? Did it help win any important battles?

The early advent of gunpowder weapons in Xanicea (around the mid 5th Century AD) meant that Greek Fire was never really explored as a possible weapon. Years before the development of gunpowder, tar and petroleum (which was not known as fuel at the time) based pits and coated weapons were commonplace among both Northern and Southern Provincial troops as ways of quickly eliminating tightly-lined groups of soldiers.

Minoa is the homeland of the Greek Fire. But now it has been superseded by modern weaponry.

No,we have not used Greek Fire.
The closest equivalent would probably be oil which we then set on fire.

Well, they used different chemicals, but hey if you want to re-define flamethrower, by all means.

We use Greek fire regularly.

We're future Earth so we used Greek fire in all the ways history says it used in RL. In the more NS sense though the Rubble Navy employs a series of terrestrial attack munitions using a flammable gel that when ignited rapidly turns to superheated plasma, called Greek Fire.

What's a Greek?

We burn stuff. It's a fairly tried and true method of doing damage. Dunno if we do it 'Greek' though.

Our nation doesn't have a military as we have abandoned the concept of settling things over war a long time ago. So the answer to your question is no.

It was used by the early Tribes of Millia, but it has not been used in several thousand years.

Yes, we used Greek fire from its (independent) discovery in the 1200s CE until wooden ships were superseded by ironclads and all-metal construction. Of course, after the discovery of gunpowder rockets, the weapon was relegated to a minor role, but we still used it occasionally.
