Kaihokudo (Japanese: 海北道 Kaihokudō, literally "North Sea Circuit, officially 海北道人民共和国 Kaihokudō jinmin kyōwa-koku), is an island nation in East Asia, composed of the island of Hokkaido and the Kuril Islands. Located in the Pacific Ocean, it is east of the Sea of Japan (East Sea), and the Sea of Okhotsk.

The main area of activity in the nation is the island of Hokkaido, which accounts for over 81% of the population and over 76% of land area. Hokkaido has the longest life expectancy of any nation, and one of the lowest rates of infant mortality and homicide in the world.

Kaihokudo is officially a pacifist nation, and has renounced the right to declare war unless provoked. It's entire armed forces consists of less than 20,000 people, one of the smallest in the world. Kaihokudo also has one of the highest GDP per capita's in the world, and even though its population consists of less than 20 million, the country has a trillion dollar economy.

History

A young prince on Hokkaido would found the nation on September 2nd, 943 BC. He waged war with the other princes of the island and took control of most of the island on Hokkaido. Under his grandson, the entire island was united.

Kaihokudo colonists landed on the Channel Islands in 1533, colonizing modern day Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

The monarchy of Hokkaido was abolished in 1772 after the bloody Hokkaido Revolution, in which the entire royal family was executed.

In 1821, after socialism became the dominant political idea in the nation, the new party in power decided to rename the country as the "People's Republic of Kaihokudo".

A civil war took place in 1833, in which the nation was divided into north and south, with the north winning.

The constitution of the People's Republic of Kaihokudo was first drafted in 1772, when it was known as just the Republic of Kaihokudo.

Preamble
We, the free people of the newfounded Kaihokudo Republic, for the common good of all man, woman, and citizen, create this document to protect the natural, sacred, and unalienable rights of our people.

1. All citizens, equal in the eyes of our law, are equally admissible to all public areas, dignities, and employment, based on nothing other than their virtues and talents.

2. Man and woman are born free and equal in rights.

3. Laws may only prohibit actions which either harms others or is hurtful to society.

4. All those that reside inside the Kaihokudo Republic have the freedom to worship whomever they like, and also to not worship, without the interference of government unless it advocates for the injury of others.
