Operation Backstep
This operation was solely created to utilize a newfound store of unobtanium, from ameteorite found on the island Arabat I. Samples of unobtanium exposed to high-velocity collisions with hydrogen atoms resulted in remarkable occurrences- the manipulation of space-time.
At the time, the scientist in charge of the experiment was Dmitri Petrovich, of the Department of Defense. They had set up a room, composed of Uranium-235 and a lead lining, where a “cannon” was set up to repeatedly fire hydrogen atoms at a block of 1mmx1mm Unobtanium. The resulting reactions would hopefully make space-time malleable, allowing the ability to travel back to previous events, forward in the event horizon to future events, and sideways, to alternate occurrences ofcurrent events.

On 2-18-2016, at 5:43:56 exactly, the device initiated, the impact was recorded to have ruptured space-time, and released an electromagnetic pulse, and scattered the radioactive particles all over the island of Arabat I. This was explained to the public as a routine nuclear test, but the radiation remained, and was predicted to remain for the next 5 million years. As a result of the first experiment, Project Backstep wasclosed down, and all assets and scientists were liquidated.
