The Disunited States of Forum Seven(Invite-only, Discussion)

Postby Forum Seven » Sat May 21, 2011 8:33 pm

High/MT (Low PMT, minor FanT if permitted by Vortiaganica)

If you wish to be invited to help with this project, please telegram THIS nation, Forum Seven, with a Roleplay sample and any comments you may have after reading the thread.

NOTE TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN INVITED/REQUESTED AND BEEN ACCEPTED: Please read the following quote, it is important for character development.

Recommended Character Form:
*Guidelines: You don't need to actually fill it out, just include all the information in a single paragraph or biography that I can easily put on a post as a taster of your writing skills and your character for readers*

Name:
Official Job title: (Note to state leaders: Make one up as long as it is appropriate to your leadership role. The State of Arts won't have a generalissimo as its head, and the political/small State of the Assembly won't have a Godking Ruler of All the Lands and Pope of Everything, Destroyer of Injustice.)
Height: In meters OR feet inches.
Weight: Pounds or kg.
Race: Probably human, unless you've cleared with me before hand.
Noted Notabilities: Nothing Fantasy tech or Post-Modern tech unless you've cleared with me before hand.
State of inhabitance:
Nation of origin: (Feel free to use either Forum Seven itself or your own main if you wish)
History in short:

This is a discussion thread for myself (Vortiaganica) and other people to talk about the Factbook and RP of this nation, Forum Seven, an experiment into communal roleplay and developing multiple characters and players roleplaying a single government.

It shall, later on, become where we discuss a full factbook for this nation.

Much of the factbook will be communal.

However, there is a bit where you get free reign. Complete ability to make anything you want.

What Forum Seven is made of is multiple states, each corresponding to a particular real-life forum on Nationstates. (General, Moderation, International Incidents)

Forums in the same category have their states in the same 'region', or, neighboring each other and with a coherent culture compared to other regions.

You would get some power over a region, and in particular, a single state. You are also asked to create a single major character, with large importance in a single stance, that corresponds somewhat to a HUMAN, non FanT, or at most, minor FanT, persona of yourself.

The idea is that each state is independent, related to all the others simply by choice, and some facets of culture and traditional relations.

The main leader of the entire nation will be for the most part myself (a character based somewhat on Max Barry), leading the Moderation state or possibly to be changed.

If you have any questions, post here, and if you know anyone interested from any NS community, go ahead and invite them. As long as they can provide a good Roleplay link to me, I want to keep it, or at least the foundations of the nation and main characters, to decent roleplayers who you know fairly well. Later, I'll open up character creation for anybody to submit a minor character.

Part of this is that anybody I allow can roleplay as their state independent from the rest of us, although I have the right to speak for the nation, the states can rebel. All participants have to be ready to recognize that if their state DOES choose to go against the nation, it can't outright cede, and must respect my main character.

It's sort of like a miniature character RP in the general II, GE&T and Nationstates Nation RPs.

All states can have all sorts of types of political structure, as long as they have a singular head of their state, and tries to conform to the general Forum-Parody/Satire idea I have.

Official invitation on behalf of Vortiaganica.

viewtopic.php?p=5707784#p5707784

More information on the first post. It's an experiment at making a nation roleplayed by multiple people to more accurately roleplay as a nation with all its rival politicians, if a little exaggerated. Said nation is based on the Nationstates forums.

I asked my hippy friends for help. Well! You’d think I asked for a kidney. They kept bringing up the fact that I was using GM seeds. Eventually they all got together and said, “Max… we can’t help you any more. We want to. But you brought these problems on yourself. And the thing is, when you ask for help, you’re actually asking us to use our skills and knowledge to prop up a corporatized product that’s not just practically inferior to the free alternative you ignored, but actually bad for the world. We just can’t do that.”

And that was how I taught them to stop asking me for help with Windows. ~Max Barry

You are also asked to create a single major character, either in complete control of one state, or a major character with close connections to all states in the region, that corresponds somewhat to a HUMAN, non FanT, or at most, minor FanT, persona of yourself.

Nightkill, what you would be doing first is one: Creating your main character, and two: figuring out how NSG would be run if it were a country/state.

Ceann, if you want, it might be interesting for you to run Forum Seven's resident church, the [Holy Violet Church], which is the one that unites Forum Seven with its beliefs and words of apathy and tolerance and sacrificial victimizing. Otherwise, you may be interested in RPing some other forum?

You'd first want to design your main character, who would be the highest mortal member of the church (highest, of course, beingGoddess of Violet).

You get free reign over the church's individual history if such does not affect any other state in Forum Seven, otherwise you'd have to figure it out with the state owner.

If you want, you can talk over with Nightkill on how the church affected NSG and what it does there.

Regions and States

(All descriptions are JUST an idea for whoever takes that state. They are completely open to change, and both change and expansion are encouraged. The names should probably be stuck to though.)

(OOC Note: The Regions of Roles are simply named as forums that were traditionally IC - and also the WA -, and the Regions of Rules, those that are traditionally OOC)

The Regions of Roles

The region of Diplomacy

The State of Factbooks (The State of Factbooks is known for being the region's real information supercentre, and is the nation's first call for information, as the State of Archives is extremely secretive. The State is also in charge of discussing behind closed doors any need to unite the nation, and is the one that is most likely to initiate any international actions, although many states are candidates for leading a reactive operation with international reach. It is the capital of the region, and everything happening is quickly noted by the staff.)
The State of Nations (The State of Nations is known for providing Forum Seven's most well known diplomats, ambassadors, and travelers. However, it is often one of the most critical of other states, and the state it hates most is the one tasked with the defense of the region of Diplomacy, the State of Incidents. Their rivalry means that the State of Nations would rather wait for someone else to help them over accepting help from Incidents. It carries out much of the domestic diplomacy activity, although any embassies or international work is done in the State of the Assembly)
The State of Incidents (One of the nation's armies, this one is one of the most varied of the lot, with both elites and grunt troops. Its grunts are known for their lack of professionalism, and are sometimes illiterate, while elites are both intelligent, well-trained, and sometimes imported from other nations with impeccable military tradition. However, while some elites are respected in both this state and that of Nations, many others, and most grunts, are highly critical of their higher-than-thou neighbors)
The State of Economics (The state is well known for holding the nation's reserves of gold, and its mints. The home of the nation's economy, and the closest thing that can be called a financial capital.)
The State of Sports (The nation's pride and soul as far as athletics and sports go. The home of the nation's best stadium, and while many sporting teams are situated here, these teams often recruit a large majority of their players from the younger, junior leagues in an associated external state, hiring children of retired sportsmen living here and older residents to fill out positions requiring the experience and skill that can be gained only through the insane training the state offers to its inhabitants, and staff.)

The region of Assembly

The State of the Assembly (Small demilitarized zone, capital of the region, its leader is a figurehead working for the Council. It is about an eighth the size of a regular state, contained within the Council. It is the place for international relations.)
The State of the Council (One of the nation's armies, this one is well known for often moving to condemn or commend other nations or states, trying to convince support for its actions before moving. Smallish but somewhat well trained, more uniform than the Incidentals, and more importantly, fanatical. About 7th the size of a regular state, making a full between it and the assembly.)
The State of the Archives (The secretive state that holds some of the nation's most prestigious inventions and science. They make money by holding experiments and documents etc. in their special built facilities, secret and protected by all of the nation's armies, each one recognizing the importance of years of archival information. Its few inhabitants are part of what is sometimes known as the nation's Illuminati, knowing everything, but refusing to act against their fellow states. However, they may on request by certain power-players in the nation move to release secret information sent by states for the good of the nation. Half the size of a regular state)

The Regions of Rules

The region of Games

The State of Games (They are the political think-tank of the nation, working with the State of the Issues. Both of these two states are small, and are half the size of a regular state between them.)
The State of Issues (The somewhat insane gang of people who write and publicize policies at the nation's federal level. The only real sort of united national stance. When they speak, everyone listens. When they do not, which is often, everyone continues as scheduled.)

The region of Nuts and Bolts

The State of Technicalities (The mechanics and creators of the land are born here. The technicians, the specialists, the motorcycle gang suppliers. They are those who keep the nation running in spic and span conditions. Half the size of a regular state.)
The State of Moderation (Home to the powerplayers, the most famous of warriors train and lead from here. The nation's idols aspire to be invited here, to dine with the Moderators. They someday will put on the badges of authority, and take on the power to remove from the nation those who annoy them. MOTTO: Exile at Will, License to Kill. These are their two favored punishments. They often refer, jokingly, to an exiling as a Ban from Entry, and a kill as a Deletion. A delete-on-sight is an outlaw, and murder of an outlaw has no legal repercussions.)

The region of Discussion

The State of Generalities (Discussion and discourse often takes place here. One of the bigger states in terms of research and education, it is well known for being instable and politically varied. It is often regarded as one of the few states that could stand to prosper in independence for any amount of time)
The State of Art (Known for being home to some very exquisite works of art and very strange inhabitants, it is known for containing everything from world-class museums to pony ranches that dress up ponies to match popular culture, both making fun of and joining in on mainstream international fictions, music and other fun little activities at a whim.)
The State of Forum Seven (What of this state is not uninhabitable has extreme population density issues. The capital building of the whole nation is situated here, and is often disregarded by other nations as a pub. The pub's existence in what is for the most part an alcohol-abolitionist state is a mystery, and is often thought to have something to do with...no, really, there is no theory. By now, the history behind its predecessors is of little importance, next to the fact that a nation of so many people is legally run from the upstairs of a seedy ghetto pub.)

I'm going to try working on a map.

But first, do either of you know anyone who would like to get in on this?

Also, would either of you be loathe to share your own factbook maps and allowing Forum Seven to have a land border with you?

We need to figure out all the regional climates etc.

It's Nightkill. He's been there so long he rents out rooms to other people at a flat rate, but demands cash up front.

Soon = Within the month if preferable.

Your promise has not been reneged on.

Nana shall be contacted within the week, and Ceann may or may not be prodded slightly.
Proud member of Ankh Mauta.

~Max Barry

Tiami is cool.

Swith: It's because you're so awesome. God himself refreshes the screen before he types just to see if Nightkill has written anything while he was off somewhere else.

Nightkill: Where does your character live in Forum Seven? One of the states.

Each state is a forum, like the State of Generalities. (Look up the page for the Regions and States Heading)

Also, invite will be extended to Great Nepal.

I'll do it a little later, and think about inviting OT, but I'll check out his creds first.

Also, your name would do well being slightly more normal. Just a little human.

But I need to figure out my own characters. Hmm.

EDIT: Also, after exams, I'll be creating some random music-songs and such on a program called Noteflight. I'll drop the links here and let you guys claim them for your various states and citizens, as either anthems or just popular songs or traditional/important songs.

Btw, a couple of things. We need to figure out what, if any, constitute the core or entirety of Forum Seven's federal laws.
