A Simple Introduction
An Introduction to the Endorsed Factbook of the Empire
Written by the Imperial Hand of ACIA Tsar Kain II

I have always made it a priority of mine to make sure everyone gets the right to a decent education. No matter what the subject may be, I feel that everyone should be able to learn about something, especially if it intrests them. Now, I know I'm not the only man in the world that feels this way, as I'm sure most leaders of nations around this gigantic world of ours wish to teach people. But as I said, its not about what, its more how. How do we teach people about the things they wish to learn?

There is many diffrent ways on how it can be done. We could send endorsed teachers or even preachers around the world, to educate people on what they wish to know. However, wouldn't that mean various people would get diffrent sides of the story? After all, all teachers have their own opinion on the matters they discuss and even though we could regulate them to a teaching plan, wouldn't that stop the pupils from developing their own opinions with others around the world if they've all been taught in a 'baised' manner?

Now, from that you're probably already thinking what the hell is he on, surely then we would just allow them to speak their opinions on the subject? And the answer, in my honest opinion, is that it would still take away a persons own choice of opinion. Why? Well, here's how it goes in my mind;

When I was at school, at the age of fourteen, my dad off ruling the country with my mother - and I'm soon to join the Army. I had a history teacher, called Mr. Adams. Simple name, Adams. Sounds like a simple man. However, he was a Totalitarian. Therefore, he believed his view was the right one. Now, that is not always a bad thing as everyone is free to believe that, but this meaned he stopped us even trying to go against his own opinion. Everytime we tried to oppose his beliefs on a matter, he'd simply smack us round the head and tell us don't be silly! There's no logic in that!

It is true that yes, we simply ignored him. However, those who I wish to reach by giving them educational opportunities may not be feel so confident as to ignore the teacher that they have been sent - thinking that this would be the only chance they get so what they say must obviously be right. This could lead to arguements, more then proper debate. So, I feel sending out teachers is not a top priority. Instead, I believe we do one simple thing; give them all of the information, no opinions given, and allow them to develop their own. These would be in the form of Factbooks, or Encyclopedias.

This would, hopefully, given them all they wanted to know and not beat them down to believe one thing, and they can voice their own opinion. Positive or Negative. There's only one problem in this, and that is, how will we be sure they understand everything? I'm sure you're probably thinking now haha! Teachers! - and if so, you are again wrong. All it needs is the book needs to be written with character.

So, instead of giving them walls of information, you'd actually tell the person to write to book as if they were speaking. So, they would explain everything they said, be that words or certain facts. First thoughts; ...what? - I thought as much. Though don't worry, I'll be giving you an example, a full one.

Throughout this Factbook on the Imperium Antiquus (Ancient Empire), my wife Empress Eadion, daughter and Heir Apparant Princess Silvier Catherine Hyuga and myself shall be talking you through it, each taking various sections to write about. We will not be voicing any opinions, and will be reviewing each others work to make sure we are writing in the same form throughout so it does not get confusing for the reader.

Already confused? Good, that will give you much more reason to read on. My wife shall be taking the first section of this Factbook, and we shall follow on from there. At the end of it all, various details shall be given so people may be able to inquire if they still cannot understand, or if they wish to share their opinions with us - we'd love to hear them!

Now I leave you to read on, and explore. I hope that my goal is achieved, and that other countries follow the same idea - as I know a few already have.

History of us Ancients: An Introduction

Postby Kylarnatia » Thu Apr 28, 2011 1:02 pm

History of us Ancients: An Introduction
An Overview of the Chapter
Written by the Imperial Hand of HIH Empress Eadion Hyuga

The History of Kylarnatia is a long one,to say the very least. It has been written about so many times by so many historians, but soon their facts are outdated by new evidence that is uncovered almost every day. Not even we know all the facts about ourselves at this time. Though we know a great deal more then we did only ten years ago.

For instance, we have learnt more details of our past since the first settlements all the way back in 40,000 BCE, leading us to understand that the first dynasties to actually rule Kylarnatia were that of one of the most ancient civilizations themselves. We're still uncovering more about them as individuals, some things we may never be able to understand to much sadness. Though it may have been their own intent to keep their history hidden, knowing we'd look back on them one day. It all depends on how you feel the evidence presents itself.

Though we will not only focus on our ancient history. Though we will go into detail, we will survey all lengths of our history. This being from our actual independence as a Kingdom in 1200 AD, all the way to the years of the Empire from 1500 AD to present day. This will feature in-depth analysis, so that you may know more so you can make a justifiable opinion. We shall be giving you all the facts we know, but to wether some of them are exaggerated stories to absolute myths, is up to you.

Either way, I shall be taking you through the whole of this section on our History. It shall feature extracts from some of the most up-to-date books, written by authours such as Aidan Dodson partnered with Dyan Hilton. Others include Richard Overy, Richard Holmes, H.P. Willmot and many others shall be named. We shall also include old extracts from the brilliant notes of H. Taine.

There is a lot to get through, so don't be frustrated if you get lost a couple of times - you'll be able to find your place again in no time. So, without further or do, lets get started; the chapter list follows below. I hope you enjoy learning about our rich and old history.

History of us Ancients
|1.1| From Settlement to Civilization [40,000BCE - 2250BCE]
Written by the Imperial Hand of HIH Empress Eadion Hyuga

The dawn of the homo-sapiens. At first, weak and struggling, in small numbers they ventured. They lived off the land, its grassy knolls and long reeds, and the various animals that they could catch with either their bare hands or with a stick with a sharpened end, using some of the first man-made tools to do so. Oh how they developed, learning to share and communicate, to spread and to learn from one another. From these small pockets developed the complexity which we now call the human race. The expanse on the use of the brain power was unbelievable, atleast to themselves, and soon they began to create their own identities and that of other creatures by paintings on the walls which, in a few rare places; can still be found today.

Image
- The Paintings
But there's one unique band which hold an identity close to us. They symbolised themselves with a dangerous animal, a poisonous being which was frightening to most of the peoples that wondered into the swamps further south in which it lived. Many people would run from it, scared of the light but deadly hissssssssssss that came from the movement of its tongue. But one day, a certain band travelled together to the swamps and challenged this creature, this Black Cobra which poisoned many others who fell into its gaze. They killed it, destroyed its body and ripped it apart, cutting it open and spilling out all its poisonous liquids. Parts that didn't were eaten, and they used its blood to paint its indentity on the walls, but also theres. In light on this occasion in which they had destroyed a stalker, they named themselves after their fallen enemy. These people were the Black Cobra.

From then on, these people lived in the swamps. Adapting to their new area they began to defend it from others, arming themselves and even using the technique of experimentation to train themselves to attack and to produce their own form of communication that enemies would not understand. They even began to train their former foe, learning to live with it and even at times live like it in order to create a bond or pact with it. They also chose a leader, who was responsible for everything that was done by the group. This, in turn, is one of the first signs of hirachy and civil order. This would influence the others to move off and do the same, which would breed from the identities they had chosen which today would be defined as nationality. Oh how the people were growing in such a small space of time.

Soon, they would have to adapt once more as the lands such as the grassy knolls began to turn into deserts, and the people had to race along to the nearest vegatation to survive. They could not evacuate to the swamps, because the Black Cobra would easily kill them. They followed the animals, which could sense out the nearest vegatation and, in turn, the nearest sign of clean water. Eventually, from over thousands of years of living in huge expanses of green land, by 5000 B.C.E. people of all identities lived close together beside the huge straight known as the Nile. This saved them from death, but there was a problem. Due to the meeting of so many diffrent identities, who in turn had diffrent beliefs, conflict developed. These are undoubtly the first signs of conflict between human identitys [nationalities] in history, to date. All this resulted in mass murders, torture, and even in the worst cases; canabalism.

Many were wiped out in this race for supremecy. Soon only two major groups remained, with some of the others abandoning their original identities and joining a specific side. The two ends of the Nile were split in two, with the north being controlled by the Scorpio whilst the south was controlled by the Scarabs. For years a stalemate was in place, and many fell in pointless battles which gained very little for either side. During this time, the people once again developed, this time creating symbols to represent letters and therefore creating the first means of non-verbal communication and written orders which could be sent to commanders. One text, which has been translated below, details one mans feelings, from the side of the Scarabs, on the things that were going on at the time.

We sit quietly and wait for salvation. We wait for the time when we can all live in complete harmony. That day is not coming and seems that it never will. Whichever side loses will be slaughted by the other unless the loser converts to the others beliefs. But nobody will do that. We are too proud of who we are. Though isn't that rotting us slowly from the inner sanctum in which we inhabit?

For weeks now I have watched helpless families suffer, mothers struggling to work and find food whilst at the threat of being kidnapped and raped by the enemy when captured during night raids, whereas their children show me blank faces, all happiness they once held now lost as their fathers go to battle, witnessing the brutalisation of their mothers and the struggle to eat and drink. Their bones are visable to me and everyone else, and even themselves. The bodies of their friends lie dead of stravation infront of them. But they do not weep. They are too tired and hungry to weep. Another collapses every hour, and that is evident by the crying of their mothers. Only of their mothers.

Death. The stench of death is the only thing that inhabits this place now.

This brutalisation as the man called it, carried on for some time. Though soon a major offensive against the Scarabs would begin by the Scorpios, who themselves had actually been suffering the same things and more, with countless disputes over power and sometimes resulting in miniture civil wars, which could prehaps only last one or two days due to the desprate attempt to gain power. Eventually one man came out ontop, and gained his supporters by naming himselve after his own peoples identity. He was the Scorpion King.

Image
- The Narmer Plate
Now, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking that the Scorpion King was a movie character? Well, you're both right and wrong. New evidence suggests that a man, several men infact, named themselves the Scorpion King during the time period between 5000 B.C.E. and 3000 B.C.E., and as such give birth to the character on the big screen. Pretty cool huh? But anyway, what made this particular Scorpion King so important was that he was not only able to lead his people to victory, but was a great diplomat and able to convince all others to join his peoples cause. Well, not through the nicest means, as symbolised on the Narmer Plate, which shows him clubbing the enemy to death in order to show his power, but it worked and helped this particular civilisation of people along the Nile grow into one of the most well known throughout time.

Apon taking full control of the lands on which the Nile stretched across, the Scorpion King recorded his feelings through the newly, fully-developed symbols which today are known as Hiroglyphs, and he accounts his victory and his aims for the new kingdom he had given rise to.

I'm successful. I'm victorious. I'm a God. Oh how they all kneel before be, and how they all grobble and ask for mercy. I shall give it to them, in return for their eternal service. They accept, ofcourse, or face my mallet in which I shall beat them to death with. Re smiles apon me, he is proud of my doings and of my actions against these people who are not even worthy of seeing my image yet I give it to them. I'm Graceful. I'm Eternal.

Yet, there are more lands to conquer. Oh how I shall conquer them all. I have no doubt I shall be supreme ruler of all the lands. Though I'm not blind. I know traps are laid and I know we should not walk into them. Or, atleast I shouldn't. I send various men out to search, they tell me if it is clear and then I march. If people inhabit, I don't care. I shall slaughter them all and take everything which is rightfully mine and my peoples.

I shall slaughter every last one...

The Scorpion King had indeed sent out many men to search for new lands to conquer. He mainly sent them back to the old grasslands, which had now developed into what is now known as the Sahara. Though none never returned, and his patience grew thin. All that came back were the stray camels that carried their equipment. Oh it was a sorry sight for the wife and children of the fathers that never returned. However, there was also single men who went and died without experiencing a full life. Though amazingly, one man experienced something that hadn't been seen since the days of retreat to the Nile.

Image
- Pi
A young man by the simple name of Pi had been seperated from his group after they mysteriously disappeared when they came near the swamps, looking for shelter from the long stretch of desert after they ran out of water. What he discovered could have generally killed him, but how he survived can only be retold by the memoirs he produced. Firstly, lets look at a rough overview of what happened.

He had wondered into the swamps, as said, in search of shelter and water. On his travels he discovered various markers dotted around, some bearing simple lines or zig-zags, others drawings carved into the rock. What these meant he didn't know, but he took rough drawings of them on papyrus and soldiered on. Further along he saw horrible things, such as skulls on staved spears in the ground, and worst of all; the mutalated, freshly rotting bodies of his comrades. Pi ran in fear, though fell into one of the swamp pools to awake a sleeping crocadile. There was a scrap, in which the croc almost killed the man, however, he was eventually saved, by men and women armed with spears...

They looked down on me. Men and women taller then the trees themselves as they picked me up as if I weighed like nothing. Their faces blank, their eyes however full of the explosions of colour which could only be matched by nature. They wouldn't release it. They wouldn't release the fire or emotion that was trapped within them. If they could they would be truely amazing people, or even more amazing for that fact.

Though regardless, they quickly got rid of me like the found me. I leave the bodies of my friends with them, but I cannot shed a tear for them. What I have experienced was an eye-opener. These people are the greatest to ever walk the lands, greater then that of the Scorpion King himself. Regardless of wether he likes it or not, he shall learn of who truely are the most powerful...

And the Scorpion King truely did learn who was most powerful. In a fit of rage, he brushed Pi aside apon his return and headed out towards to swamps, to face the Black Cobra and see what was so powerful about them. None of his men returned, and neither did he. The Black Cobra became a horrified legend from then on, a part of civilisation that nobody wanted to encounter in that time. The Black Cobra overall preferred it that way, and how they did eventually choose to come and work with us is a slight mystery - though that can come later on, if all is fine with you. If you must, just skip ahead.

Though due to his demise, once again conflict resumed, though only for a short period of time. After some strife, around 3000 B.C.E., the lands were unified by one man and one man alone, due to his impressive skills in all sorts of situations.
