Monetary Manipulation

Postby Monetar (Ancient) » Fri Apr 22, 2011 2:45 pm

Does your nation have a government organization (e.x. Central bank) that can manipulate the monetary supply of your nation's currency?

If so, how has this been used in the past, and what agency oversees this?

If not, how is the monetary supply maintained?

While the Empire does not engage in monetary policy instead living it to the individual nations to handle monetary policy all of which have central banks (though known as different names) that do engage in monetary policy.

This is primarily used to control the cash rate within the nation to stabilise and keep inflation within the range as set by the government.

No such organization exists. The money in our nation corresponds to a specific physical quantity of gold, with each Howie being serially numbered and corresponding to an actual piece of gold stored in a vault somewhere. The bearer of a Howie note may physically go to this vault and exchange it for the actual gold at any time during standard business hours, although due to the fact that the specific location of storage may be physically remote, it is more common for the note to be exchanged for another equivalent note corresponding to a locally stored piece of gold, which is then exchanged for that piece of gold. The fact that the currency is hard and 1:1 exchangeable for the actual specific piece of gold that it represents prevents any kind of currency manipulation.

Money is only a medium through which economic infrastructure operates. If the infrastructure is properly controlled, the currency keeps itself in balance.
