( general terms apply, things are not always black & white, but more in shade(s) of gray/grey )
After WWII, the US govt changed the name of the Dept of War to the Dept of Defense; which was due to the fact that the term or view of being "politically correct" was becoming the right way of publicly conducting things within the govt.
( i.e. in the new age....always be seen as being the victim, and not so much the villian )
Euphemisms are society's way of allowing, or accepting, an image that is unpleasant; such as in the case of the name of the Central Intelligence Agency; whereby, the word "intelligence" is much more accepted than what that agency actually does...i.e...it "spies" on governments and people all around the world...including American people, and that agency is well known to conduct it's missions of spying with "extreme mean" means and measures.
( Note: that agency also conducts other missions, which are much more positive operations )

QUESTION:........
What are some of the most popular or common euphemisms / "politically correct" expressions known within your nation's government, or within your nation's social orders ?
Example in Goltzborg:................>
In Goltzborg, the term to "cleanse the indigenous personnel completely", does *NOT* mean
to "wash the local people thoroughly with soap & water"; but instead, actually means:......>
to "exterminate the local people with extreme prejudice".
( i.e. the word "cleanse" leaves a lesser negative tone, than does the word "exterminate" )
NOTE: More times than not, a person will overlook an issue if he or she isn't over whelmed by a word or a phrase; which is exactly what most governments and corporations want and hope for.
