Schools normally operate for 9 months out of the year with breaks during that time and a three month vacation for the summer. All schools in the nation are private, although the government subsidizes tuition for students of lower income parents.

Fatatatutti has an endless summer and students have a mostly self-guided curriculum, so there is a variety of ways in which the school year can be broken up. Some opt for a long break and some prefer several short ones. A few will go straight through without breaks but that isn't recommended. Teachers have similar flexibility. They can take time off to train with the Reserves or take university classes or help with the pineapple harvest.

In Turmoilandia, the school year runs from mid-August to mid-June. The summer break is exactly 8 weeks. This applies to all grades from Pre-School up to 16th Grade. Students get off for Independence Day (September 6), Christmas (Christmas Eve until December 28), and Good Friday to Easter Sunday. This means a minimum of 4 school days off per year and a maximum of 7. School is in session between 213 and 216 days (snow make up days are not required unless the school year falls below 210 days).

This only applies to public (government-run) schools. Private schools are rare in Turmoilandia and only the super-rich attend them, but they can set any schedule they want.

During the Summer, schools remain open, offering summer classes. These are usually taken by both gifted students who want additional credits to get into a good college and by students who failed a class. Summer classes are generally more difficult than the courses offered during the regular school year.

Our students go to school for 200 days in a year. They go to school Mondays through Fridays. They have a December Vacation that is a week and 2 days long, an April vacation that is a week long, and a Summer Vacation that lasts from the last week of June (Date varies with snow days) to the second week of September.

Yeah, the fact is, the summer here is only around 15°C.
In overseas territories it's different. With the hotter summer, they have summer holiday.

The first semester of school begins on September 1st, every year, and ends on November 30th, with Sundays off. The second semester starts on December 8th, and ends on February 20th, with Sundays and Christmas off. The third semester starts on March 5th, and ends on June 15th, with Sundays off. Students then have from June 15th to September 1st off from all schooling.

Equestrian schools have summer vacations. We're an agrarian nation, so young Earth ponies are needed to help out on the farms during summer weather. For young Pegasus ponies, summer means flight camp and part-time jobs moving thunderstorms. Young Unicorns often end up in summer school; magic, after all, is a demanding skill to learn.
