On the whole 1, but sometimes 2 or 5. Most people's bodies are disposed of after their organs have been appropriated for research or transplantation.

Tsvarchivan culture doesn't believe in burials; there are no cemeteries in Tsvarchi. The deceased are cremated and either returned to the family, or their remains are placed in a reflection pool.

Cremations are performed by fire.

It varies from district to district, but the most common method is to clean the meat from the bone using a relatively strong acid, then bury the skeleton.

Fatatatutians are not a "grave visiting" culture, so individual monuments are rare. There are symbolic monuments to soldiers killed on peacekeeping duties, sailors lost at sea, etc. but they don't mark actual graves. The dead who are buried are unmarked and life goes on over their graves.

Fatatatutians have a long seafaring history, so burial at sea is also very common. Cremation is rare as it is seen as an unnecessary and disrespectful waste of resources. (Although the term isn't used publicly, the dead are "recycled" in a natural way.)

2, all bodies are either buried underground or in an above ground tomb.

Lancovians are very strict about their burial customs. Nearly everyone is cremated by fire, as burial in the ground is seen as an affront to the deceased's dignity. Often the cremation takes place at the deceased's actual funeral, with friends and family standing vigil. A horse is customarily 'sacrificed' alongside the deceased, nowadays a very old or otherwise terminal horse is humanely euthanized and cremated alongside the deceased human, though even this practice is growing more uncommon. The ashes must be scattered on land somewhere, rather than kept on someone's mantel.

Under no circumstances is it culturally permissible for someone to be buried at sea, cremated or otherwise.

We have a few ways, with specific reasons for each.

Anything useful in criminals goes to medicine, to ensure others get a chance at life, with whatever is remaining going in a funeral pyre, purging whatever evil remains in their body.

Burial at sea, the Navy way of going, being kept where they were at their best.

Being shot into space, the Air Force way of going, to the final frontier they go, the higher domain of the Air Force.

Then, we have the way the Army and Marine Corps best go, a massive explosion, essentially going out with a bang.

Science experiments are the way the knowledgable go out, donating what is left of themselves to science.

Firemen go into a extremely deep fresh water lake, where they will never have to deal with fire, etc.

Then we have what those who don't fall into either group do, which is the going to medicine, anything useful goes to someone to ensure they can get a chance to live, with them usually receiving a specialized funeral depending on what civil service they went into, including 21 gun salutes, parades, etc.

Most people are eaten by Livestock (7) or used as plant fertilizer (8). However some are Cremated however this is frowned upon as it is a waste of resources (1) THe Elite Party Members are burried upon death (2), often in magnificent ceremonies (21 gun salutes, parades and all that jazz)

People do not choose what happens when they die, the State does.

1 and 2 are the most common ones, but 5 and 6 aren't unheard of (5 usually being used by the Navy).
Please note that Mid Lothian is based on fantasy. Any references to anything/one/where that exists is completely coincidential.
Frequently used abbreviations: HoS = Head of State; HoG = Head of Government; ML = Mid Lothian; KSS - Kate Stephens-Smith.
Fancy an embassy in ML? Click me for details. (PS - I'll return the favour.)
I am usually rewriting stuff about Mid Lothian - just because it's true today isn't necessarily true tomorrow.

The most popular means of disposing of the dead are cremation or burial; generally, the person must specify their preferred method of disposal in their will, but if no such specification exists then it is left up to the family. In rare cases, where no family exists or can be identified and no last wishes can be ascertained, the judgement is left up to the coroner, who will normally order the body to be cremated.

The government may seize dead bodies for use in investigating or prosecuting crime or to prevent the outbreak of disease; this allows the police to countermand the wishes of the deceased or his family if they need to gather evidence from a dead body, as well as allowing disposal to be delayed in cases where the cause of death cannot immediately be ascertained and the body must be examined. It also allows emergency services to destroy bodies carrying deadly infections in order to prevent outbreaks. After the government has no further use for the body, it may return it to the family of the deceased; however, it is under no obligation to do so and the police may order that the body be placed on permanent cold storage if they believe it necessary for the prevention or detection of crime.
