Asleep at the Controls How do you Deal with this?

Safety in Air travel is key, so how do you deal with situations that pose potential hazards, such as a Pilot or Air Traffic Control Operator asleep at the controls, loafing around or just otherwise not paying attention to their job?

If an ATC were to fall asleep on duty, or were to simply be inattentive, he may well be told to get his resume out on the market again, quick. This all depends on who's in charge.

If people actually died, or a serious but non-fatal accident transpired as a result, then criminal charges would almost certainlt be raised.

Pilots falling asleep while on duty would be handled in much the same way.

Of course we fix this in case of midnight-shifts comprising of more than one guy so meh.

Ruskarkands government controlled commercial flight system interchanges staff in and about at different hours, this keeps work ethic, effort and reliability in tip top shape in most cases.

However, there are some cases which we cannot fix, but it's never too serious an incident.

If there is harm in the form of death, injury or property damage, then those responsible will face criminal charges and/or civil suits, with the emphasis on rehabilitation and restitution. If there is no harm, repeat offenses might result in loss of employment.

If no harm was done: A warning.
If harm was done: Fired and criminal charges would be filed.

Repeat offenses will result in immediate termination.

Two words: Disciplinary Action.

Also, that's why we mandated two pilots, so one could take a break, and also no pilot should fly long-haul two journeys less than 48 hours of each other.

They'd either get screamed at by their boss or are fired. The former's more common. Of course, we don't have Air Control, we have Space Control, as we have spaceports, not airports.

^ What s/he said. (Also, pilots aren't allowed another short-haul flight within 24 hours of the last one, or a long-haul flight within 48 hours, regardless of whether it was short- or long-haul.)
