( OOC: Disregard the title in whole, as it was mainly used as an eye-catcher :lol2: )

NOTE: Primarily for those nations which have a lineage of "male" leadership.............>

Can a son who is born as a bastard ( i.e. born out of wedlock ) ever aspire to the top leadership role of your lands and people; or instead, is such position only afforded to those who are of "pure" blood breeding ? ( take into consideration whether or not there is an heir of "pure" blood )

NOTE: Same question could / should be asked regarding a female as well.

There are no bastard children, only bastard parents.
Muammar Muhammad al-Gaddafi, also known as Colonel Gaddafi, siezed the leadership of Libya illegally through force of arms on 1 September, 1969. Those who call him the legitimate leader in Libya really need to do some more homework, and perhaps take a good look at themselves morally.

Both sides have problems, and the rebels are certainly working with criminals, but the man they are fighting is not a saint. Remove them both, and let the Libyan people decide. Is it too much to request a little backbone from our leaders in this?

Why?
Kalaspia-Shimarata's flag represents the Union between K&S. The dark blue represents the sea and the light blue represents the sky. In Kalashi language considers light blue and dark blue to be different colours. England colonised, and unified K&S, between 1774 and 1953, and English, light blue and dark blue are considered to be the same colour. Therefore, the contrast between dark blue and light blue represents the union, but the differences between K&S where as blue being two but simultaneously one colour represents K&S being two, but simultaniously one entity. The opposite to the symmetry represents the unity and indipendance of K&S, whilst also representing the Kalashi culture of opposite symmetry.KS is 75% Christian, hence the cross.

100% of children in Tsvarchi are born out of wedlock; marriage is not a legally recognized, nor is it a socially relevant, institution in this country.

We're a democracy, so we don't have a "line of succession". However, it is widely believed that Carmen "Shimmy" Dykstra is the Prime Minister's "unofficial" daughter and she's also considered to be third in line for leadership of the Socialist Party, after Education Minister Schuyler Marmish. So the likelihood of her being Prime Minister some day is fairly high.

Defense Minister Harmony Chang is the daughter of former Prime Minister and current President Mickey Chang. As the senior Communist Member of Parliament, she is a likely choice for Prime Minister in the future. Mind you, she's about as close to "legitimate" as it's possible to be in Fatatatutti.

OOC:

I think that I may have not expressed myself clearly enough; as this thread is primary directed to those nations who have a lineage / dynasty of a ruling family; and not so much pertaining to any common "bastard's" ability to aspire to his nation's highest elected office.

However, all information is welcomed from all nations.

In such cases I would imagine it would be a toss-up between calling on some obscure man from a cadet branch of the ruling house, or declaring the bastard son to be legitimate. It's usually done like that in such nations.

There will be a big affair who gets to marry the closest living woman relative so that the son form that marriage will be loyal to the right house.

No, a bastard child cannot aspire to any hereditary leadership role, whether that be Lord of a House or the King itself. A bastard does not carry the House name.

Women cannot inherit lordships anyways.

This is generally how the proper Ducal families act, but since the National Senate gets to select the Grand Duke from whichever Duke they wish, and the Dukes are chosen by the lesser senates from whomever they wish (though it is generally from among the traditional ducal or noble families) the matter is more a tradition than law and has not prevented "bastard" children from reaching the height of power.

Presidency of Souffrance is acquired on merit and popular vote.
As the people here value personal responsibility highly, they would not elect a president just for having good family; they would expect a president to be honest and hard working, as they expect of all citizens.
Men and women are equal in Souffrance, and both get elected as president with a fairly equal ratio.
And marriage here is really of no consequence; it's purely a social thing.
