If anything, the nation is truer to its myths and values than at any time previously, and the a good number of the people see it as such. Dissenters tend not to support the ideals of our traditions, rather than feeling we do not live up to them.

OOC: Uncle Sam is the "good" age-old image personified to represent the USA; but some would, and could, argue that "good" old Uncle Sam is the alter ego of today's *BIG* Brother, who / which is evil to the very core, based upon how freedoms and rights have, and continue, to either be eroded, or erased, or tipped towards the elitist / wealthy.

In essence, the "American Dream" has slowly over time become the "American Nightmare"; with "good" old Uncle Sam asleep at the switch, as his alter ego took charge of the average Joe and Janes' ( common people's ) rights and abilities to make a better life for themselfs and their future posterity. ( i.e. myth vs reality....in an "in your face" manner )
