Disease, Death, Destruction...and Drugs !!!!

Postby GOLTZBORG » Sun Apr 17, 2011 3:44 pm

Other than seperation, disease, destruction, death, etc....how much of an issue has illegal drugs been to your military operations during a time of war; and what was the social aftermath that followed those personnel who became addicts while they served in a combat zone ?

( OOC: Think of the many Vietnam Vets who returned as drug addicts.....and other wars too )

The drug industry was put down with an iron fist long ago.

Vecerians would never take any drugs other than marijuana (because of medical reasons), just because of the different effects of such substances on the Vecerian organism. Drugs other than alcohol are banned from being taken during military exercises and deployment.

Stop it with the damn threads, you could probably combine about half of your threads because their topics are so closely related.

Illegal drugs are not an issue because drugs are not illegal. The military has no authority to ban its members from using drugs. However, if drug use impairs the soldier's ability to perform his/her duties, that is grounds for discharge.

Drug rehabilitation programs are avaiable to all Fatatatutians who need them. We don't consider drug use to be a social problem.

This, though they aren't very common.

Almost unheard of as Military Ranks have stronger discipline. Still Military has its own Rehab services for it but the person entering must achieve independence from drug use in a certian amount of time or be discharged and face civilian prison.

Most Leazusians compulsively consume opiates, methamphetamines, alchohol, and tobacco prior to military service, during military service, and upon retirement of military service.

We do not see it as a problem.

Marijuana however is punishable by Knout

Possession of drugs is grounds for prosecution/discharge/execution, usage/trafficking of said drugs is grounds for execution after trial, considering that the mere fact that they were brought to trial, they're probably guilty, combine that with generally overwhelming evidence, then your screwed.

Others are not subject to our laws and systems (unless if they have been conquered), which are minimally invasive concerning everything BUT our drug laws, which are quite invasive in general.

Muammar Muhammad al-Gaddafi, also known as Colonel Gaddafi, siezed the leadership of Libya illegally through force of arms on 1 September, 1969. Those who call him the legitimate leader in Libya really need to do some more homework, and perhaps take a good look at themselves morally.

Both sides have problems, and the rebels are certainly working with criminals, but the man they are fighting is not a saint. Remove them both, and let the Libyan people decide. Is it too much to request a little backbone from our leaders in this?

Generally, drug abuse was never a problem beyond a few individuals in war time.

OOC: I must reject your statement in whole; as Hollywood depicted that part of the Vietnam War very-very well...I'm sorry to say. ( in fact, they may have not depicted it as bad as it really was )
