What Would You Do ?

Postby GOLTZBORG » Sun Apr 17, 2011 9:44 am

Provided that you are the leader / ruler of your nation, if there were to ever be a time when your people were in revolt and demanded your immediate resignation, what exactly would you do ?

Would you stay and fight ?

Would you pack up and flee ?

What would you do ?

OOC: Think of the difference in what the leaders of Egypt and Tunisia decided to do; and compare it to what *Kadaffi ( *several spellings ) has been doing.

If it was actually my human self, I would shit a brick or two at the thought of being trapped in a nation full of sentient Dragons who hate humans with a passion.
If I was a Dragoon, I would simply resign as they say and let another leader step up, but I would stay in my nation as a citizen and enjoy some nice visits to the national landmarks I thought up of, it would be one hell of a sight seeing trip.

any protestor would be killed on sight, mass protests would be met with live grenades, airstrikes, artillery shells, APC Fire and Machinegun fire, not a single one would be spared. IF necessary Chemical and Biological Weapons would be used, entire towns and cities demolished. The government would fight.

Not that would ever happen considering the People of Koyro are taught from a young age to love thier Great and Glorious Leader, Comrade Marshal John Ohanka.

Well, if it was me, Oterro would be nothing like it is; vive la democracy, and all that. Incidentally, they'd be surprised to find their Duke not fluent in French. But I'd have attempted to fix the rife poverty and inequality.

Providing my abdication was still demanded, I'd step down peacefully. (and wealthily.)

If it was actually James Sharpe he'd probably end up ordering his guards to charge the rebels or something silly (he's not very wise) and get himself hung/guillotined.

The question is moot. The government has no means of fighting against the people. The police and armed forces are loyal only to the people.

Depends on how many people, the kind of people rebelling and the type of government. We are a democratic government, I'd put down the rebels regardless- they can always have used peaceful means to amend the constitution or change the makeup of government- no reason for armed conflict unless they wish to forgo democracy and impose their will on the unwilling.

If it was me? Surrender.

If it was Tomaster Mokidi? He would most likely have soldiers and guardsmen shoot them, probably taking a few shots at them himself.

By law, if the Collective Council demands the resignation of the Grand Chancellor due to his inability to rule or inefficiency, he must step down and allow for a new Grand Chancellor to take power. The Chancellor has declared that he would surrender his position of the Council ordered his resignation, but not the people; they can be moody and temperamental, and therefore are unfit to make decisions regarding his office.

If the monarch were as unpopular as it seems, then they wouldn't need to revolt. They'd simply remove him from office via a citizen's initiative and recall election.

Now, if for some reason they decided to actively revolt than go through the peaceful channels of recall, HRH King Whirnak would step down, obviously.

If they meet me with violence, I will meet them with violence. If they meet me with reason, I will meet them with reason. I will step down though, assuming they have good reasons to protest. If I can convince them to calm down, I will form the government into a republic assuming it was extreme. After that, I'll keep my bodyguards on my personal pay roll to avoid future assassination, assuming they (being the succeeding government or protestors) ever come after me.

unlike most nations my military is loyal to me. that is because most of the population is or has been in the military. i garner great support from my people, any subversion groups are free to protest my rule peacefully. but force will be met with force.

If it were a civil war, then force would be used to put a stop to it, though President Middleton would likely resign as soon as the last shots had been fired.

If it were just mass protests on a nationwide scale by an overwhelming majority of the people, then he would resign immediately, and let the Vice President take the Oath of Office.
Muammar Muhammad al-Gaddafi, also known as Colonel Gaddafi, siezed the leadership of Libya illegally through force of arms on 1 September, 1969. Those who call him the legitimate leader in Libya really need to do some more homework, and perhaps take a good look at themselves morally.

Both sides have problems, and the rebels are certainly working with criminals, but the man they are fighting is not a saint. Remove them both, and let the Libyan people decide. Is it too much to request a little backbone from our leaders in this?

In Great Kingston the leader would have resigned long before revolts were necessary, at the very least he would have received a vote of no confidence and stepped down. I would do that. If the people have decided that I cannot benefit their nation anymore then I would go without a fuss.
