Overview
The Republic of Luansing is a federal republic made up of three states which are also the three main island groups of the archipelago. Its population of 146,100,000 are located in a 300,000 sq km archipelago, the nation formerly known as the Philippines. The population density is high, 487 people per square kilometer. The nation is highly urbanized, and most live within the cities.
When the Philippines regained independence from the Japanese on 1945, the road was paved for the birth of Luansing. Elections were held and Andres M. Luansing was elected as President of the Third Philippine Republic. Luansing led the nation through its rebuilding efforts and he was instantly treated as a national idol. Suddenly talks of a monarchy became the hot topic but Luansing declined and congressmen and senators had the idea to rename the nation to Luansing. It passed and Luansing after deep consideration signed the bill into effect.
Geography
Luansing is an archipelago comprised of 7,107 islands which are volcanic in origin due to its position within the Pacific Ring of Fire. The highest point is Mount Apo within the state of Mindanao with a height of 2.95 km above sea level. The second highest point is Mount Pulog in Luzon with a height of 2.84 km above sea level.
The islands have numerous streams and coastal plains. All islands have sand beaches, which are a popular tourist attraction. Before, most of the nation was covered by rainforests, but illegal logging reduced this to about 15% of the total land area.
Climate
The nation has a tropical climate characterized by high temperatures and lots of rainfall. There are only two seasons, wet and dry. May is the warmest month and January the coolest.
The average year-round temperature is 26.6 C (79.9 F). Elevation factors the variation of temperature significantly. In Baguio City, the average temperature is 18.3 C (64.9 F). On Mount Banahaw, the mean temperature is 14.6 C, a difference of 12 C from the lowland average temperature.
