Volmachtia's space program has lasted from 1958 all the way to modern day 2081, with over 5800 landings of either cargo or astronauts and an estimated expense of 561.3 billion Volmarks (Roughly 1.2 trillion USD). Twelve large settlements currently exist on the lunar surface, originally began with the Earthrise Project in 1962 in which twenty-seven soldiers were stationed on a self-sufficient lunar outpost. Over the next two decades, three commerical mining outposts were founded, and a new Volmachtian Air Force Space Corps division established a base for its newest space interceptor craft. As of 2081, roughly 4,000 people live on the Moon, most of them in non-military bases, primarily intended for mining either titanium or Helium-3 for Earthside use. Twelve cargo ships go in between Earth and the Moon every month, usually landing in the spaceport of the primary settlement, New Volmat.
