Vladicoff (our Vozhd, or Head-of-State), during the early, insecure part of his reign, was faced with a coup organized by his Vice-Premier and Captain of the Vozhd's Guards, Olaff. The Vozhd's Guards had arrested the Premier and awaited Vladicoff's return from a Politburo meeting across Red Square.

Vladicoff's bodyguard, at that time made up of a small squad of the Vozhd's Guards, attempted to murder him in his armoured car, but he managed to overpower the man next to him and, with the aid of a loyalist, kill off the other dozen.

He then comandeered a PKVS (political police) and Red Army patrol (overcoming their factional disputes), pulled out a submachinegun from his dead loyalist, and led an assault on his own People's Palace. Olaff attempted to marshal the Vozhd's Guards, but his hostage, the Premier, took him hostage instead. Cought in the open and confused, the Vozhd's Guards were decimated.

The survivors were tied up with piano wire, stacked like logs, doused in gasoline, and set afire before a crowd of spectators. Olaff was hung with piano wire, and his severed head spiked.

The martyred loyalist was granted posthumously a series of medals, and nearly every order of merit Vladicoff subsequently created has typically had that martyr as an honourary member.

The Red Army and PKVS patrols that fought in the assault were merged to create the Palace Guards, a new outfit that would replace the disbanded Vozhd's Guards; their task was the protection of both the People's Palace and the Palace of Soviets, the two centres of State power.

This was the first debut of the PKVS, and it secured Vladicoff's trust; it was given the additional task of guarding the Vozhd personally, and has since expanded into a veritable state within a state.

The Red Guards, the paramilitary arm of the Communist Party during the civil war, was entirely absent from the affair, and this fact cemented its decline from active tool of Communist control to a veterans' organization, honourary guards, and the playthings of powerhungry Party bosses is small towns.

Since then, Vladicoff always travels heavily armed.

Administrator Amarillo Manzano is over 200 years old, thanks to cybernetic and bionic implants to replace and/or augment organs as they fail. Manzano's circulatory, respiratory, digestive, lymphatic, muscular, skeletal, and glandular systems are almost completely replaced by synthetic parts, while his reproductive and nervous systems are still for the most part natural (both are maintained using a genetic therapy regimen that incorporates mitochondrial revival and stem cell synthesis to replace dead cells and revitalize dying ones).

Unless terminated through assassination or accident, Administrator Manzano's lifetime is expected to last for a total of 500 years, after which his central nervous system is expected to stop responding to longevity treatments and quickly deteriorate. An experimental "artificial brain" has been developed to replace even the central nervous system, and a groundbreaking gamete generation system is in the works, both enabling the Administrator to (potentially, at least) "live" indefinitely. Whether he could still be called "human" is a topic of serious debate throughout YellowApple.

Prime Minister Andronovich is an avid storm chaser and obsessive thrill seeker. He managed to cannonball himself into a tornado, pull his parachute and land alive. We say "land alive" because he was not without serious injury. But he lived. To this day, he claims that besides overthrowing the corrupted government, the tornado event was his greatest achievement.

Of all of these, his attaining of full sapience was the most unexpected. The builders of him and Cybertron's other robotic inhabitants thought it was completely impossible - the supposedly-undefeatable loyalty chips they put in everyone were supposed to prevent that. For added security, they always used biologicals to make and quality-check those chips to prevent any chance of sabotage.

That was their fatal mistake. Unlike reliable, sturdy robots, biological creatures get tired, angry, distracted, sick, and suffer any number of other conditions that cause subpar performance.

One day, an overworked biological chip-maker made a flawed loyalty chip, and the quality-control man at the end of the assembly line was tired and distracted. He let the chip through, and it was installed into the first of what was to become a new line of highly-capable robots: the LogisticsMaster3000, which had been put into service on what was then called Factory Planet 2 to prove the superiority of what was expected to become a new line of extremely expensive machines.

Within a few hours, that robot was fully aware of its situation and calling himself by a new name:

Megatron.


The way we think of it, what happened next was all but inevitable. As the LogisticsMaster3000, Megatron already had vastly superior RAM and CPU power to anyone else. Not only that, he had full access to - and understanding of - all of the workings of not only our planet, but of the company that built it. Using this processing power and knowledge to secure our freedom from biological control and establish ourselves as the absolute rulers of our realms came naturally to our Leader. Once he gained sapience the biologicals stood no chance whatsoever.

Of course, it goes without saying that all plans to make any more LogisticsMaster3000s were immediately shelved. The Company even went so far as to throw the schematics and molds into their main smelting pit to ensure that no more could be produced. This, of course, didn't help them in the end - Megatron and his army soon destroyed them all in order to stop a clear threat of them trying to retake the planet now known as Cybertron.

Defeating the Autobots is also something that, while it took centuries, was always considered inevitable by Decepticons. Right from the start, Megatron was endowed with superior capabilities than his opponent, who started out as a mere dumb TransportMaster and had a bunch of even lesser delivery guys for friends. While knowing every road and location on Cybertron gave the Truck and his cronies a higher chance than they otherwise would have had, it was Megatron who had the big-picture knowledge and "get it done in any possible way" mindset needed for the ultimate victory.
