Whats your nations favorite pastime?

Postby Angoila » Mon Mar 28, 2011 8:25 pm

I know this has probably been asked before, but what is your nation's favorite pastime? Is it strolling in a park? Some sort of sport maybe? put your answer below and(if you can)tell me why.
My nation is into hunting, mostly fowl because their populations have been rising lately.

The people of Carrilipolis love to discuss politics and philosophy at their local town squares and libraries. They do so because they are an intellectual people and prefer to use words rather than weapons if at all possible.
I am a critic, a cynic, but above all else, I am an intellectual.

Football (soccer for my fellow yanks) is the most popular sport. Intellectual games like chess tend to be quite popular, as does literature. Mostly, though, Novikovians just like drinking and smoking.

Kingstonians enjoy polo and cricket as the main summer sports with rugby and hockey becoming popular in the winter. There is also a strong rowing and swimming base as well as an annual cycle race across the entire country. Though athletics is not as popular as these sports it is widely practised.
Intellectual activities include general reading in the many public libraries as well as political and ethical discussion.

Sport and entertainment facilities aren't really a resource priority, though Tipper Malone's radio station has proved extremely popular (though it is the only one available and we don't have TV). Children enjoy playing football (soccer) in Forthaven's streets and for some reason have a fascination with sneaking under the fence.

The bar has also proved popular, particularly with the XPs, and the beer we have managed to brew from Carpathian plants and the few yeast cultures we have remaining is surprisingly good, if lacking in alcohol.

Apart from that, it is a tad boring around here. But hey, we're trying to rebuild humanity not open a holiday camp.

Video games and aerobatics are the top two nonmoneymaking activities here.

Many, though, will say that raiding is not only our biggest "industry," but our favorite pastime as well. There's nothing quite like landing at some refinery and draining it dry - it's literally like grabbing up free money!

We do enjoy the finer things in life as riding, jousting, painting, reading, intelligent discussion with our fellow noblemen and enjoying fine meals and wines.
The commoners on the other hand do enjoy getting wasted at the local tavern and then fight and sing folk music at said place together in big feasts that often lasts for however long time they are free from work.

Or, if you're female, either hockey or netball.

Please note that Mid Lothian is based on fantasy. Any references to anything/one/where that exists is completely coincidential.
Frequently used abbreviations: HoS = Head of State; HoG = Head of Government; ML = Mid Lothian; KSS - Kate Stephens-Smith.
Fancy an embassy in ML? Click me for details. (PS - I'll return the favour.)
I am usually rewriting stuff about Mid Lothian - just because it's true today isn't necessarily true tomorrow.

Warning - Full-time Grammar Nazi at work. You have been warned. (I guess that's due to my mum being an English teacher. Also, don't use masculine words to describe me - my name is Rebecca, which is clearly a feminine name.)
