Man-in-the-street Hendric Grun says, "Do I trust our government? Well, look, ultimately, we are the government."
Yannia's nation page contains an error. The population should be in millions, not in billions.

Well the House of Commons is generally viewed as self-interested, ambitious and yes, corrupt.
The House of Lords is just viewed as a house of inebriated aristocrats who occasionally have something worthwhile to say but most of the time are asleep.
However the Queen they are most fond of and think most admirably of.

After the implementation of several measures to stop corruption in its tracks (e.g. Transparency), the majority of the population now view the government as "not corrupt", however still view it with strong suspicion, and have incentives for whistleblowing.

Compared to governments of the rest of the world, Front Rangers think (correctly) their government is pretty honest. Still doesn't mean they trust the government as a whole as far as they can throw San Angelo, although most individual politicians would be considered trustworthy.

Why MY people see their Glorious Government as 'Not Corrupt' is because we PROGRAMMED them to think That. Also that they are Happy. And Anything else That the Companies want.

Corruption is low in our government and when found out it is addressed immediately. Although there will always be corruption amongst some officials, but if the people bring this to the attention of the government, then the guilty people will be removed from their posts and possibly prosecuted.

Of the interviewees-

Tanja Ingeborg- "Government corruption.... I don't really know. Can't remember the last time I even had to deal with the government."

Mahmoud Tariq Abu Al-'alla- "There is no corruption here since we don't really have much of a government. It keeps us safe from foreigners, murderers and robbers, and sometimes when there is extra money maybe throws a little at the poor to send their kids to a good school. All it does. And it seems to do it well. Look at our crime rates."

Huang Xiaopeng- "Once in a while, you can make things go a little faster, like registering property, by slipping a few golds to clerk at the local office. Beyond that, can't think of anything."

Donna Janevski- "Ummmm...... Nope, can't think I've dealt with much."

Eric Mecklenberg- "I would hate to be a politician. They are under a constant microscope and are held to standards that ordinary Dagnians are not, even legal ones. They can't even have booze or more than a few cups of coffee, since they are forbidden any mind-altering substances. Gods forbid if one was caught taking bribes or abusing authority. They can get public corporal punishment for that in addition to losing their jobs for that."

Monika Anna Sojka- "Not much, but I have heard of some bribery at the local level, at the clerks' offices."

Maha bint Muhammad Abd al-Aziz- "I interned at senate offices here and studied abroad. I saw none here. Even if there is any, it is nothing compared to some other nations. I didn't even have to intern in their governments to see corruption. In some of them, they want bribes at every step of the way from coming to leaving, and they will make you miserable if they don't get what they wanted. You give a bribe in Dagnia, it just makes stuff work faster but they still do it right for you if they don't get it. In some of those other countries the bribe is mandatory."
Wait an hour, and it will be now again

The vast majority of people don't even know what the government does
The Principality of The Blood of 999 Goats recognizes the Libyan National Council as the legitimate government of Libya. Add this to your sig, substituting your nation's name.

Listen, everyone has food in there mouths and a bed to sleep in, but government officials are eating steak every night and sleeping in goose down, 1000 thread count sheets. They are better off than us, but at least there not prospering while we're starving, like in other countries.

Interviews done by an independent organization. Question was: "Do you trust the government? Do you think it is corrupt?"

"Of course I trust the Grand Empress. She'll try to do the right thing. And how the hell can a government consisting of pretty much one person be corrupt?" - random passer-by, Ft. Aquilaine

"Government? Que est-ce que c'est?" - random Sylvari passer-by, The Grove, the Crown of Sylvaria

Pretty much most of the people had one of those two opinions. The government's approval rating is at a stunning 99%.

Peter Livorno, on the government of King Astorias Maldivis III:
"You bet I trust him. He's a good guy, and if he slips up, we'll just lynch him. After all, it'd be, what, forty against five? So yeah, there's a lot of incentive for the government to respect the people."

The Empire of United Japan's government is not corrupt, we are the most non-corrupt government to exist. Citizens are taught this from birth and every other nation are corrupt imperialists who wish to destroy our way of life.

"Do I trust the government? Not as far as I could throw a Senator, but there is a reason I'm a citizen, the government provides a necessary service that I consider worth my money and my allegiance, but if that ever changed, well I'm no more inclined to be robbed by the government as any other brigand."
~ Sierrium Citizen

"I need not trust any government, because I have no government, the government's dominion governs only those who hold citizenship, their property and anyone who harms them. So long as I stay at peace with it's people it will stay at peace with mine and my own."
~ Denizen

"I am loyal to my Republic and as a leader and role model for the people, I trust it to bring about the greater interest of our society, but I do not trust it implicitly, if I were to see corruption, I would root it out, for the state is not an end in itself, it is the means through which we safeguard our security and freedom, it is our servant to our cause, not a master, I am merely a guide for the people and not a leader."
~ Patrician

"There are far more important things to care about then the going-ons of our diligent body-guards, this galaxy revolves around trade not muscle, so long as the government stays out my life and my commerce, they may take a share for protecting our fair Republic and her interests. "
~ New Venezia Citizen

"Oh heavens, the government, know why are we worrying our silly little heads over the government, there just men, men with guns whom we've decided to put our trust in to protect us, if we ever lost that trust, well we'd just as soon find another group of strong men, that's the beauty of a voluntary society, those men with guns don't have any power of me or anyone else, except what we give them and I? I haven't given them any yet."
~ Denizen

"We've lived tough lives out here, tough lives that breed tough people, we don't need the government to tell us what to do or where to go, and they know better then to try, but when the chips are done and we're in trouble, I'm glad to know that the cavalry's coming over yonder spacehill. Even if we don't need them."
~ Outer Colony Citizen

"I moved out here for the work, not the politics, frankly I can't imagine how you can stare into the abysmal evil of the fringes and say you wouldn't want the government at your back, flawless? Maybe not, but so long as they keep the pirates back, they have my trust."
~ Fringe Colony Citizen
